  1. The Muppets aren’t wearing masks.  They are all crowded into a car and they are headed home to be among all the friends and relatives.

Big question:  Will there still be Muppets at New Year?

  2. in the meantime, there’s georgia on our mind

If you thought the start of a new year would let us all put the insane 2020 election cycle behind us…think again! Because of Georgia’s (historically racist) runoff election system, our stomachs get to continue knotting themselves right into the new year!

  3. jamie, not to worry. they all got their vaccinations, are in open flowing air and have masks in pockets to whip out as soon as they get there.

  4. Well, Gail dropped a couple inches of heavy snow here in East Bumfuck.  A mild annoyance at worst.  We were right on the rain/snow line all afternoon and it turned to snow around 5, was done by midnight.  Tried to post an image this morning but … Apple ….

  5. Jamie, that’s our running “newsflash, it’s raining in the Northwest” joke with Mrs. P’s Mom and brother in Seattle.

  6. yeah…   we got a foot overnight.  It’s still snowing….  supposedly to stop around 3-4pm.  A nice day for hot chocolate and a good book.

  7. Mitch only agreeing to COVID relief as GOP GA polls show Dems boosting turnout on that issue. Giving Perdue/Loeffler chance to brag about relief not helpful to Dems in runoff. Those in need get much more next year if Dems win Senate. They’ll be cut off if Mitch keeps power.

  8. Those points should be beat like a drum – Dems want to give hurting Georgia residents more, Repubs want to give them less.  Simple message, easy to back up with simple numbers – should get those hurting voters to go to the polls.

  9. And now D’umpass is threatening to veto the military spending bill.  Apparently he wants to make sure bases named for confederate traitors continue to be named for them.

  10. given the veto threat to military budget & that huuuge hack into our security intel by russia to say nothing of the damage he’s done to democracy, hard not to believe conspiracists who think d’ump is putin’s puppet.

  11. Good double-mask technique- i approve👍

Christians sure are wedded to that Winter holiday they stole from the Pagans, eh?

Well, at least they came up with their Spring fertility ritual on their own.  Oh, wait…

  12. Wapo reports that Biden picks Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) to be first Native American interior secretary.  Good choice.  About damn time, too.

  13. Time to treat Russia like the joke it is. Smaller economy than Italy’s with only one aircraft carrier (that’s falling apart). As John McCain said, “A gas station masquerading as a country”

  14. Bink

If it is any consolation, I really haven’t cared what Biden did beyond his VP pick and now interior.  Of course getting rid of Trump makes anything Biden does look like a vast improvement.

  15. Bink … I am a pragmatic Democrat.  What I consider imperative for myself is to give an honest opinion.  With that said… I’m not annoyed by anything that Biden has done so far.

  16. As a principled liberal I……..oh…..I forgot….. I’m an un-principled liberal…..I’m annoyed by everything……except pork chops.    And steak.   And roast beast.    Oh, never mind.

  17. I’ve had quite enough of Thomas Selleck,  and I’ve had enough of the Half Motorcycle-Half surly actor.

  18.  Biden selects Deb Haaland as interior secretary, Michael Regan as EPA chief

Regan is currently the head of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. He previously worked for the EPA during the Bill Clinton and the George W. Bush administrations. Before leaving the agency, he served as a national program manager responsible for designing programs aimed at reducing pollution and improving energy efficiency and air quality.
As the administrator of the EPA, Regan would be charged with a leading role in overseeing Biden’s ambitious proposals to combat climate change, invest in green energy and infrastructure and take on environmental injustice.

  19. Andrew Weissmann, a former prosecutor for special counsel Bob Mueller, predicted that the case could “quickly turn into a criminal inquiry.” Last week reports broke that the Manhattan district attorney’s office has interviewed employees at Trump’s bank and insurance broker in a similar criminal tax fraud case, a signal that the investigation has intensified mere weeks before the president leaves office. The presidential pardon power does not extend to convictions at the state and district levels.

  20. No paperwork for you.  One of the things I like best about Biden is that he put Mayor Pete in his administration.  All that crap that Warren gave him during the primaries for taking money wherever he got it was… well crap.   Go Joe!

  21. Air pollution  in low income areas.  Michael Regan as EPA chief,  a black man.
This is a man bites dog story going forward.
As is that Interior appointment.  The BIA used to be stuck in there.  Haaland  is the first of many strong women coming of political age in New Mexico.
Progressives need to sit down and shut up, and get those two seats in Ga.

Trump remains silent as massive cyber hack poses ‘grave risk’ to government

(CNN)When President Donald Trump convened his Cabinet at the White House Wednesday as Washington absorbed news of a massive data breach, the heads of most agencies relevant to the intrusion — including the Department of Defense, the State Department, the Justice Department, the director of national intelligence and the Central Intelligence Agency — were absent.

After the meeting, Trump said nothing about the attack, which went undetected by his administration’s intelligence agencies for months. As those agencies now mobilize to assess the damage — which the government said Thursday could be more widespread than initially thought, posing a “grave risk to the federal government” — the President himself remains silent on the matter, preoccupied instead with his election loss and his invented claims of widespread voter fraud.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson doubled down on mocking incoming first lady Jill Biden on his Wednesday show, labeling her as “illiterate” and blasting her doctoral dissertation.
On his Wednesday show, Carlson continued his criticism against Biden and her doctoral degree in education, piling on earlier attacks after The Wall Street Journalpublished an op-edlast week encouraging her not to use the “Dr.” title as a nonmedical doctor.
On air, Carlson took to criticizing and nitpicking Biden’s doctoral dissertation, which she earned from the University of Delaware in 2007, calling it “our national shame.”

  24. Tucker got a BA in history  from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut  He’s worth $30 Million , his mother fled the family before  he was 10.  His father was an LA News anchor.  He married the heir to the Swanson TV Dinner fortune. Patricia Caroline Swanson.

Tucker has a lot of “Mommy Issues” .

  25. This Dr. Jill thing  really  sticks in my craw, and  I’m  a dropout .
Getting a PHD  is not easy .  And for a guy who got  a BA in history , to start whining about  Dr Jill .  Is a bit like a mole hill  shouting at a mountain, hectoring it about it’s true altitude.
    These attacks are  just starting.

  26. The wisdom of ignorance –
Is an idea that just because one knows little , one carries   a lot of wisdom never the less.

Ignorance  has just beat wisdom  to a bloody pulp .

  27. My  nephew  Travis  , named after that  guy at the Alamo.
He barely  got out of Texas A&M , but he set up a food delivery service  in Corpus , and sold out.  Bought a van , blew a transmission.  Moved to Manitou Springs.
When to work in the pot business.
This is his first winter in Colorado.

I sent him a “Care Package”  in August .  $32 bucks in postage.
    I sent  the following –
My cowboy boots.  With 16 inch red tops, and black bull hide vamps.
Your are 3′ taller in these boots.
    Sweaters
    My Buddy Holly jacket
A  brand new atler pipe  I made.
    And my drilling overalls .

He walks to work , he loves  my old drilling overalls.
    And my old sweaters.

  28. My Buddy Holly  jacket  is  a black  Levi  jacket . I bought it new for me , I had the contract  for his 50th  birthday  party  for shirts .
I printed  that image  on the back .  I then sewed patches of my travels  all over it.  There is a B-17  patch  on it .  I went with out for days to pay for that flight.

  29. Fluffy trying to pick on a PHD plays to the far-right, neo-nasty base; they fear/hate intelligence because they think it’s elitist.  They fear/hate intelligent women because they are misogynists with tiny-hand syndrome like tRUMPsky.

  30. The most  power full  3 mins , I ever lived .
Me –  Lewis , what  are  doing  ?
Lewis –  Bob , I’m  jumping out of helicopters  and scaring the shit out of the wildlife .
     –
Me  –  Can you get me a job?

I sold everything  I had  to get to Utah.

  31. I rolled into Morgan in a cab from Ogden with a duffle bag and ten bucks.  3 hours late.  But Mountain Geophyisical put me on never the less.
8 months later,  I was drilling the “World’s  Highest Shot-Hole”.   Crossing the Unita Mountains.
And I loved it .  Every morning  I got to get up and go to work  never knowing  if I would die .
It was all very  dangerous.  And we were all very much alive doing it.
This why we love NASCAR,  Grand Theft Auto , and War.

There is nothing like knowing  you should be dead.

  32. Sturgeone

Be nice to Tom Selleck. He’s a good dancer, even if I felt like a midget while doing it.  His father was retiring as the head of the Woodland Hills Chamber of Commerce and he flew in from Hawaii for the event (yes it was a VERY long time ago).  The ladies were quite pleased with this development.
