Former vice president Joe Biden leads the Democratic field in a new national poll, followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), but all of the top-tier candidates had a slide in support.
Biden was supported by 19 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents while Sanders was supported by 14 in the Reuters/Ipsos survey published Thursday.
They were trailed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), with 9 percent support, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D) with 6 percent and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg who made his debut in the poll with 4 percent.
The top for all saw a dip in support since the last Reuters/Ipsos poll. Biden’s support slipped by 2 points, Sanders’s support fell by 3 points, Warren’s support declined by 2 points and support for Buttigieg fell by 1 point.
Those numbers are also significantly lower than those in the RealClearPolitics national average of polls. In that average, Biden has 27.8 percent support, Sanders 15.6 percent, Warren 14.2 percent and Buttigieg comes in fourth at 11.4 percent.
Nearly one-third of those surveyed in the Reuters poll, 31 percent, said they still don’t know which candidate to support, the highest indecision level since the same poll in April.
Researchers surveyed 719 adults this week who identify as Democrats, independents and politically unaffiliated. It has a credibility interval of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
The Iowa caucuses, the first national 2020 contests, will be held in less than two months on Feb. 3.
More than a dozen people are vying for the Democratic presidential nomination.
does that make those left unnamed in horsey’s cartoon merely potted plants or does it mean booker & klobuchar still have a chance?
General Sir Nicholas Carter has also said Syria is a “tinderbox that could very easily ignite a wider conflagration”.
Biden is still being Biden which is why I won’t be voting for him unless he actually wins the nomination and I am forced to do so. Do not expect any excitement about it.
Asked during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” whether he has spoken with “a single GOP colleague in the Senate who’s even considering voting for impeachment,” Murphy answered affirmatively.
“Yes,” he said while declining to name any colleagues.
“It’s a small list, on one hand,” Murphy said.
The senator also pushed back against calls for an anonymous removal vote.
“I don’t buy this secret ballot thing. If there was a secret ballot, there’d still be only a handful of them that would vote to impeach this guy,” he said.

Talks about a potential plea deal are under way between federal prosecutors and an attorney for Lev Parnas, a Rudy Giuliani associate indicted for making illegal campaign donations who helped Trump lawyer Giuliani’s search for dirt in Ukraine on Joe Biden, says an attorney familiar with the investigation
The talks appear to be in early stages, but the lawyer familiar with the investigation and ex-prosecutors say that pressure mounted on Parnas to cut a deal after prosecutors revealed on Monday that he and his business associate Igor Fruman, who was also indicted for making illegal campaign donations, are “likely” to face additional charges.
If Parnas strikes a deal it could put further legal pressure on Giuliani, who is facing a growing number of legal woes including some relating to his international consulting business as part of an investigation of alleged crimes including money laundering, wire fraud, campaign finance violations, making false statements, obstruction of justice, and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
[…]
As detailed in the 300-page report by House intelligence committee Democrats and other documents and reports, Parnas played a Zelig-like role in Ukraine and the US in tandem with Giuliani and several other conservatives to try and boost Trump’s political fortunes in 2020.
[…]
Parnas’s lawyer Joseph Bondy declined to comment on whether plea talks were under way, but Bondy told the Guardian his client wanted to help the House of Representatives in its impeachment inquiry.
In a statement, Bondy said that they are producing materials to the House intelligence committee “… and that Mr Parnas remains fully committed to providing relevant and accurate sworn testimony”. But Parnas needs to be “granted a level of immunity, such that his statements in the impeachment inquiry cannot be used against him in his federal prosecution”.
Parnas and Fruman’s efforts to help Trump’s political fortunes go back at least to April 2018 when the duo were invited as prospective donors to a small Super Pac dinner with Trump at his DC hotel. There, Parnas talked to Trump and warned him that Ambassador Yovanovitch was hostile to his policies, to which Trump replied she should be fired, according to the Washington Post. Their $325,000 check to the Super Pac, America First Action, arrived a few weeks later.
In a statement, the Super Pac indicated it has voluntarily cooperated with the federal inquiry, and the $325,000 check was put in a “segregated bank account … until these matters are resolved and a court determines the proper disposition of the funds”.
Biden did not handle that voter very well. He’s too sensitive about his only living son. He needs to get a handle on his emotions and fast… cuz those types of questions will be following him all throughout his campaign.
Our country doesn’t need senior executives who go from zero to ninety when irrational remarks trigger them. They can be dangerous to the extreme.
We were spoiled by Obama, excite the base without scaring the middle. Just don’t see it this time. Maybe Hillary should run.
Well I don’t think Martin Malarkey would think much of Biden’s bus tour. A famous cable television pioneer from Pottstown PA
I am seeing a lot of baloney here though. Just say no to Joe — he would guarantee a SFB victory
And no to the media pet Buddagoogoo
I’ll take the unpopular position and say I thought Joe’s response to the lying sonofabitch, while a bit harsh, was largely appropriate. It’s his no Malarkey tour, which I think should be renamed No Bullshit Bus Tour and festooned across the bus in larger than life letters.
I think Biden should have asked him what radio station he heard it on and did he also know that other radio stations had all carried the story that the charges were a crock.
The guy was clearly some gooper plant and not a Democrat.
KC, with the exception of a poll here and there, (Emerson, for instance) Biden consistently does better head to head against SFB than any other candidate. Aside from your own opinion what do you have to back up your belief that Biden would guarantee the re-election of SFB and anyone else on the Dem side would not?
KC, I’m 98% certain he was a GOP plant, but he said he heard it on MSNBC. Joe said he didn’t hear any such thing on MSNBC.

oh BTW…. same thing with Nancy. I LOVED her response to that reporter.
I think Biden’s response was perfect, call a troll a troll. That man came for one reason and doesn’t deserve respect and everybody knows it.
Next time all he needs to do is point to the crowd of reporters in the back. Say, “Lets save some time, go ahead and get interviewed( which is what you came here for) and we will pretend like I offended you, now lets listen to someone who really has a problem” BTW at this time your staff should have identified someone you can point to. As for wanting Obama back? really? the man got his head handed to him by the milk toast branch of the Republican party. Wouldn’t stand a chance in todays climate. I want the Big Dog, the last Democrat to pass a meaningful progressive agenda. Besides he knew how to tie the Republican up in knots. Drove them crazy.

Back to the children in cages.
Last May a 16 year old boy died while in Border patrol custody. The Border patrol claimed they did everything they could. Well ProPublica, an excellent type of new journalism obtained the surveillance video of the youths final hours. I have not watched it but will take others statement that it is disturbing.
This is, at least, manslaughter, some one needs to go to jail.
The cellblock video shows Carlos writhing for at least 25 minutes on the floor and a concrete bench. It shows him staggering to the toilet and collapsing on the floor, where he remained in the same position for the next four and a half hours.
According to a “subject activity log” maintained by the Border Patrol throughout Carlos’ custody, an agent checked on him three times during the early morning hours in which he slipped from unconsciousness to death, but reported nothing alarming about the boy.
The video shows the only way CBP officials could have missed Carlos’ crisis is that they weren’t looking. His agony was apparent, even in grainy black and white, making clear the agent charged with monitoring him failed to perform adequate checks, if he even checked at all. The coroner who performed an autopsy on Carlos said she was told the agent occasionally looked into the cell through the window.
The video makes clear that CBP, the Border Patrol’s parent agency, inaccurately described how Carlos’ body was discovered. Contrary to the agency’s press release, it was Carlos’ cellmate who found him, not agents doing an early morning check. On the video, the cellmate can be seen waking up and groggily walking to the toilet, where Carlos was lying in a pool of blood on the floor. He gestures for help at the cell door. Only then do agents enter the cell and discover that Carlos had died during the night.

Biden is a proven loser and the people who won in 2018 neither looked or sounded like Biden
The media is in large part responsible for the ability of SFB to lie with impunity with their fake equivalency form of reporting.
It’s a shame when people think they know the truth but are really only repeating the misinformation they have heard from weird sources.
KGC, true and yet he is the best you have, get used to it.
Nobody is electing a Harvard professor from Massachusetts, who has all the problems of HRC with none of the positives. Every thing begins in less than 60 days. and will be grinding to it’s obvious conclusion 30 days later on super Tuesday. It is too late for the a single digit candidate to do more than play the spoiler. So it looks to be Bernie , Biden or Warren and Warren is fading fast.
Fact is these three are all well known and nobody is going come from behind to knock them off.
Jack
Kennedy was a radical leftie (for the era) on race relations, which I’m guessing is the criterion Mr Jack uses to rate JFK as a left winger. He even had Sammy Davis, Jr over for dinner. I mean, radical ! [snicker]
He was also a bigger bombs boy. Kennedy ran to the ‘right’ of nixon on nukes and rockets. If he’d lived, JFK would have been a neo-con. He had way too much faith in nukes, rockets, the bundys & mcnamara.
The media should do its job.
I’d like to point out to Katie Tur that most of the forested land in California belongs to the Federal Government and California state policies would do things about climate change but the asshole and his enablers keep trying to roll them back. This is a national issue.
A Few Menu Suggestions
Klobuchar/O’Rourke, Biden/Abrams, Warren/Castro, Landrieu/Harris, Patrick/McGaskill, Booker/O’Rourke, Harris/Franken
What, not enough votes? At least to this point Joe doesn’t seem to have that problem this time around. Up against Barack Obama – something intriguing, shiny and new? Again, who? Mayor Pete? His support is somewhere south of half of Joe’s. I’m talking votes next November.
XR if I had to bet I’d bet Biden/Harris today.
Harris won’t go with the loser Biden
Just a little bit about what the far right republicans, Putin lovers, russian operatives, and kkk white nationalists are looking at on Facebook, and, other places on the webtubes. I am not sharing the links, there is no reason to share their hate in usage.
They absolutely believe the Obama administration was the most corrupt group of people ever in the government. I have heard and seen this since 2009. They refuse to believe that SFB is anything other than a man beating back the corrupt Dems and their attacks.
It is how we fight that perception that matters. They have been fighting a black man since 2008. To them the Dems are a single Black Man – Obama. The racist, white supremacist party is the republicans. How to win white supremacists to a “we love you no matter your skin tone” is up to people smater than I am.
patd, it’s ALWAYS dirty tricks with the repubes!!!
Joe did well with the troll. He showed he’s a ‘man’s man’ without violence. Challenging the troll to a pushup contest is funny.
If trump ‘debates’ Biden, an attempt to intimidate as he did to HRC will backfire. Biden will make him like look like the loudmouth weakling he is. reggie van gleason ?

probably true, as I’m interested in beating Trump. Where as you….. but keep dreaming and please don’t choose another Dukakis. The nation can’t afford it.
Jack
Dukakis ? Mondale !!!
Throw in [or out] Kerry !
KC, you are just being snarky. Are you FOR anyone or just against Joe? JHC …
New Yahoo/You Gov Poll
Reg Voters Impeach and remove 47 – 45 : +2

tiptoe – That’s quite almost from the ~good~ old days.
My ears & eyes are being bombarded with Mike Bloomberg ads. Don’t be surprised if he’s the Dem nominee, even though he’s a Repug.
