  1. bet many a Mormon will remember in november how Mitt was treated by IMpotus and his maga’ts.

Sen. Mitt Romney will not be invited to this year’s CPAC, the conservative conference’s host chair announced Friday in the aftermath of senators voting not to hear additional witnesses in President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.
“BREAKING: The “extreme conservative” and Junior Senator from the great state of Utah, @SenatorRomney is formally NOT invited to #CPAC2020,” tweeted Matt Schlapp, chair of the American Conservative Union, which hosts the conference.
    […]
Mike Lee, Utah’s Republican senior senator and a frequent CPAC attendee, tweeted a message of support shortly after Schlapp’s announcement.
“Mitt Romney is a good friend and an excellent Senator. We have disagreed about a lot in this trial. But he has my respect for the thoughtfulness, integrity, and guts he has shown throughout this process,” Lee wrote. “Utah and the Senate are lucky to have him.”

  2. also rep. senators who will be punished by the cult for saying this as reported by politico :

ā€œIt was inappropriate and wrong for the president to do what he did. I think it was proved. The question is whether you apply capital punishment to every offense,ā€ Alexander said. ā€œAnd in this case I think the answer is no.ā€
In making his argument against witnesses, Alexander had actually gone much farther in condemning Trump’s behavior than many of his GOP colleagues.
The reaction in his party was mixed. Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) agreed Trump’s actions were ā€œwrong and inappropriateā€ and Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) put it this way: ā€œLamar speaks for lots and lots of us.ā€

  3. In his editorial New Rule, Bill tells Democrats it’s time to fight dirty and offers up some unscrupulous material to get them started.

  4. Funny when fighting dirty involves little more than telling the truth about SFB and his band of merry criminals.

  5. the hill also watched bill last night and quoted from his monologue:

“OK, I’m going to try not to cry during the show because we lost Democracy this week,” Maher said. “I feel like I’m standing over a casket and thinking: ā€˜Hmm I should have been nicer when it was alive.’ā€
ā€œIt’s a done deal. This is going to happen,” Maher added later in the show. “Trump will be acquitted on Wednesday. Republicans have nothing left to do but dot the i’s, cross the t’s, and f— the u’s.ā€
The staunch Trump critic also alleged that the president and the GOP-controlled Senate is “corrupt.”
ā€œWe always knew Trump was corrupt but now we found out the Senate is too,” Maher charged.Ā

  6. MSNBC banner asking whether the Senate failed democracy. No. The Senate Repugnicans failed democracy. Full stop. The only impeachment trial in US history in which witnesses were not allowed to testify Ā and documentary evidence was not allowed to be introduced.Ā

  7. Did Trumpsky have to provide DNA in the E Jean Carroll tape investigation? Ā  If his vibe was ā€œsubduedā€ at Mar-A-Ego last night, could that be why? Ā  Or, do they need to tweak his meds? Ā Ā

  8. last year at SOTU the dem ladies all wore white (celebrating suffragettes and the many fems elected in 2018).Ā  this year both men & women should wear black to make a statement about the state of IMpotus.

  9. It is very interesting that SFB has almost no tweets during the last twenty-four hours, and those put out do not “sound” like him.Ā  Is it time for another visit to Bethesda to do some pre-examination work ups?

Trying to nurse along the batteries in the old truck finally failed.Ā  It was cold last night and those batteries did not have enough left to get the truck going.Ā  It has a diesel engine.Ā  Time to visit the battery supplier.Ā

  10. Pelosi can turn her American flag pin upside down, to signify the country is in distress. Ā  She’ll be right behind SFB’s giant, orange head, so she’ll have about as much screen time as Trumpsky. Ā Ā

  11. yellow dog democrats, unite!

“I mean, who doesn’t want to meet Bailey?” says one Elizabeth Warren campaigner. Days before the Iowa caucus, the Democratic presidential hopeful brings out her golden retriever during a meet-and-greet.

  12. PatD – The Oscars are coming up and, unfortunately, more attention will be paid to actors are n LA than the bad actors in DC. Ā But, they have people’s eyes and ears; they can make a pitch through their dress (Dem blue), and the winners during their speeches. Ā  Ā Trumpsky’s base won’t care, but if there is anyone still on the fence (which seems impossible), maybe it will help wake them up.

  13. taking a look at giving some small donations to viable opponents against vulnerable republicans. Don’t guess we can put Lindsey on that list? Flatus, Sturg, any chance he could be beatable?

  14. Biden calls Iowa ā€œa toss-upā€? Ā Spoken like someone who is NOT up to taking on Trumpsky. Ā  Did Joe think it was going to be easier? Ā  Ā  Amy got another endorsement; Yang is trying to get higher profile from his celebrity affiliation with Dave Chapelle; Bernie’s folks are acting out and he needs to reign them in, because he’s well-aware of it by this time; Ā Warren’s plan-for-that brand Ā has been overshadowed by touchy/feely stuff; Bloomberg, well, we’ll see how much attention he can buy with his Super Bowl ad. Ā

  15. Craig, Jaime Harrison, an activist Democrat of color is running unopposed for the senatorial nomination. I believe he has a fighting chance to kick Lindsey’s ass if he can marshal rural voters who often don’t have a perceived reason for heading to the polls. I support him financially. I also financially support Mark Kelly from AZ. He’s the brave astronaut, retired Navy captain, who’s gonna kick that good for nuthin AF woman’s Repugnant butt. Mark is determined to complete his wife Gabby Gifford’s work that was cut-short by a would-be assassin’s bullet.

  16. Thanks for your thoughts Flatus. Seems like Jamie is worth helping. Let’s all work together on a list with donation links of Dems we can help to win the Senate. I’ll make a special page for that going forward.Ā

  17. Cracker Family PAC supports Mark Kelly and also donates to the Gifford Kelly gun safety initiative
Hillary Clinton STFUĀ  you lost get over it and stop doing shit that is or could help SFB
    I sent Rashida Talib some money.Ā  I like her.Ā

  18. Yep. Ā Now is not the time for Hillary to try to get attention or whatever she’s trying to do. Ā Neither is it the time for Bernie’s folks to be kicking up a fuss with Hillary. Ā  We have a common enemy. Ā

  19. We’re in this situation because of voters and commenters like you, BiD, so maybe take your upside-down flag pin and affix it to your…

  20. How did i know all the people who helped get us into this mess would eventually fancy themselves freedom-fighters? Ā  so dumb

  21. Oh, Bink. That’s bunk. Ā  Bernie’s time was 2016 and Hillary & the DNC weren’t having it. Ā  It’s time for Warren. Ā

  22. Apparently not

it’s cute how liberals just lose, lose, lose, while thinking that next big win is right around the corner.

  23. what are you going to do if Trump wins again? Ā declares martial law? Ā makes himself king?

…post more stridently? Ā  ooh, the Rethuglicans are sooo scared of your posts, and your $2 to some also-ran

  24. I wonder what the timing of Bloomberg’s ad will be in relation to the Trumpsky interview/national pee break? Ā Ā

  25. Yo Mr. C,

Was that stuff you posted about intimidation of Lamar Alexander and associates anecdotal or was it reported somewhere?

  26. TT, no. Ā Bink’s not a repube.Ā
Tlaib isn’t helping. Joe, Bernie! and Warren all have a chance, in that order, and I hope BS doesn’t fuck things up again and go on a six week pout when he doesn’t get the nomination.Ā

  27. Bink

That lose, lose, lose party took back the House and stands a good chance of taking back the Senate.Ā  Whether or not we can take back the Presidency will depend on who hates whom, stays home, votes 3rd party, suffers GOP voter suppression or Russian interference just like in 2016.Ā Ā

  28. i’ll venture efforts are best spent directed at the most vulnerable seats, such as McSally(AZ), and Gardner(CO), and maybe even Cornyn(TX) if what BiD and others say is true about Texas ā€œturning blueā€.

Ā i’d further assert that Senators from states without Republican-controlled legislatures are another good focus in efforts to flip the Senate. Ā i say that because Republicans are so incomprehensibly underhanded that any Dem running against powerful, entrenched GOP-political machines like those that exist in states like KY and SC is severely disadvantaged, at best.
    Ā
Will all the money in the world help Doug Jones(AL) keep his seat? Ā Probably not. Ā So there’s a -1 loss before a single vote has been cast.

    Jamie,

i was happy for the blue wave, but what have they achieved against McConnell? One guy steamrolls an entire party, every time. He’s like our Putin: an evil
    political-genius that never loses.

…and yes, from personal observation in my own community, to CC’s anecdotes, to images of armed lunatics taking control of the Kentucky Statehouse this week, etc., voter-suppression and intimidation are huge issues to face.

  29. Bink I fear you’re right about Doug. My home state is full of idiots.Ā
And suppression and intimidation? Ā That describes the Iowa caucuses.Ā

  30. Yes, ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the President. Ā If Trump wanted Yovanovitch out, he could have just issued a simple directive to replace her. Ā So, why did he try to use backchannels to try and pressure her out, using language that could be construed as encouraging, if not overtly asking for, an assassination of her?
    Ā
because he didn’t want to bring attention to his henchpeople’s efforts in Ukraine.Ā

  31. To my way of thinking, the only repug senate candidate who seems impregnable is the jerk from Louisiana. 23 rippers seats are at risk (so far) vs 12 Dem seats. All things being equal, the Dems should pick up 5. But, all things are not equal. There’s a reason that trump chose to attack Biden by alleging his kid is corrupt, rather than harping on the women and dope. Obviously trump attacks on the basis of sexual impropriety would backfire. This year is the year red states decided that drug addicts and street pushers are the victims. That’s cuz the ‘opioid epidemic’ occurred mostly in red counties, and red states, among reds who are white people. It makes a big difference. So, the drug theme attack is a non-starter.
    Ā
Corruption is the biggest news this year, and the trump attack on the Bidens was meant to dull public anger over trumpite rottenness, by smearing Joe with ersatz corruption : “Aw Mom, all the kids do it. Lookit Joe !” Corruption kept popping up in big ways during the impeachment and trial processes, so trump’s schemes actually made things much worse for himself and 51 ripper senate seats, of which 23 are up for grabs. Even Dershowitz’s scqreubawll constitutional argument ended up seeming shifty and rancid. And now the Senate repubs are positively wallowing in Dersh’s corrupt opinion.Ā
    Ā
This year all Dem candidates need to do is yell, “Health Care !” and then go for their opponent’s rotten jugulars with fang and claw. Ā

  32. I proffer my apology to the Management and Readers for my band width violation, in the fond hope that I’ll be forgiven a little.
