Pete vs Bernie

After a virtual tie in Iowa looks like a do-over in NH.

Republican Bill Kristol (MSNBC) : “People have discounted Buttigieg too much…. People are underrating what he did with that showing in Iowa. It does remind me a little bit of Jimmy Carter, who was able to come out of nowhere to become the nominee, and the president.”

Meanwhile…

Stephen Colbert: “Hearing Mitt Romney give that speech was like finding water in the desert… Please join me in thanking Mitt Romney for being honest, for not lying to us or to himself, for serving the Constitution rather than that monstrous child in the White House.”

Buttigieg on Colbert tonight.

  1. still chuckling over nancy’s “it was the courteous thing to do considering the alternatives” wondering  just what alternatives she had in mind.   wadding up each sheet of speech and hurling it at his comb over?  stuffing it down his throat in mid-speech?

here’s jimmy kimmel’s suggestion:  “I will say, I didn’t like that.  I think tearing up the speech was a bad move. she should have rolled it up and spanked him with it.”

sorry, kimmel, IMpotus probably would enjoy that too much.  mixers, any more suggestions for alternatives she could have taken?

  2. I’m glad Washington votes by mail.  The Democratic party is running out of candidates I’m willing to go around the block in order to vote.

  3. I liked the gesture – the fat baby is so petty that he refused to shake her hand – what’d he expect, a standing O and “thank you sir, may I have another” from her at the end?

  4. As it is…  I’m still giving Biden my vote here in NH.  If I change my mind, I’ll vote for one of the 2 women.  I look at it as the “anti- Bernie” vote.

  5. The dictator’s friends on 4Chan clogged the polling lines in Iowa.  That’s the kind of dirty-trick-crap that the basket-of-deplorable repubes do!  The Dems need to up their bastardly game all around!!!  They’re just to damn nice, ethical, and moral!!
At today’s supposed-to-be bi-partisan breakfast, the dictator when after Nancy, a Catholic, and Mitt, a Mormon. Won’t be long before he goes after their religions.  Why does the religious, Bible-thumping right support him?  He hates religion and isn’t religious at all. Oh, it’s them conservative judges and tax cuts!! Bastards!!

  6. Take away from Iowa,
Bernie’s support is steady but flat, he is nobodies second choice
Bernie out performed Biden in the African American precincts and Latino.
A personal guess is that he did well with Latinos because like my neighborhood eligible voters tend to trend younger than the general population
Mayor Pete did better in rural and outlying suburbs.
Money can’t buy you happiness per 538 both Steyer  and  Bloomberg underperformed their poll numbers.

  7. Jack, I can give the Idiot’s Guide to the Trump Impeachment Speech in 4 words:
Sham impeachment witch hunt.  (Repeat for time allotted for speech).

  8. Amy is still looking as the best for the country.  Maybe if the top four self destruct, the media might start talking about how good she is at her current job.

  9. lol keep dreaming Jamie

competency is a liability with this electorate.  platitudes and blather win the day

oooh, “ST” stands for “Super Tuesday”. proud of myself

  10. I believe I made this point months ago when I was talking about  Beto (remember him)
Demonstrated experience and competence is not required to be president.  Look at our last 7 seven presidents.
Only Bush sr  had national experience, maybe Reagan as governor of CA. With that in mind, then Mayor Pete and Stacy Abrams are a prime presidential duo.
But in reality, this one looks as if it is going to the convention where it will be hammered out and the Bernie bros are already throwing 2yr old tantrums.

  11. Pogo, words can’t carry the “pitiful me” whine that Trump is emoting. Folks need to quit listening to his words and talk about his whine. Such a baby, he needs to put his big boy pants on.
    Jack

  12. You see, the sad truth is that this nation frequently  goes slap fool crazy, and it has been that way since before the revolution. The whole nation just absolutely off the rails.

  13. sturge, ‘fraid you’re right.  we politically waiver between hutsut ralston on the rillerra  to puff the magic dragon

  14. Maybe, just maybe, they can make Bernie’s health an issue.  Another heart attack is likely within 3-5 years.  Milwaukee in July.  Should be an interesting convention.
Trump supported a pro-choice Republican, Kay Granger, so why aren’t the far-right shunning Trumpsky?  Because they are just Christians in name, as well.   There is a Christian Left, but the numbers are much smaller.  They’re the ones doing community outreach and not trying to get attention for it.    The prayer breakfast is disgusting.

  15. Sturgeone, the ship of state has sailed right into Putin’s open arms

blue, I know one couple here who are Christian left. And they, like everyone here, don’t/won’t talk politics.

  16. trump called one of his aides “good talent” in a speech from the WH?!

if you didn’t know, “talent” is slang for “sex-object”; don’t kill the messenger

  17. John Harwood on CNN when asked about IMpotus’ rant:

“This is somebody in deep psychological distress right now – self-pitying, insecure, angry…”

  18. I caught a little bit of the idiot’s rant. My god what a pathetic thin-skinned narcissist. I listened for about 5 minutes then turned on Classic Vinyl. Doobie Brothers are still running through my head.

  19. I think the best thing to do for the Democrats is to ignore SFB completely.
The media should not cover any lies or report them as lies

  20. The good news coming out of Iowa : A. 5/6 of the republicans attending in 2016 stayed home in 2020.
    B. 1/3 of the trump supporters from trump’s 2016 second place finish stayed home in 2020. 99.7% of the non-trumpsters stayed home.
    C. trump did not score a clean sweep, as William Weld blocked him for a delegate.
    D. More supporters turned out for each, bernie!, Buttigieg and Warren than for trump. And almost as many turned out for Klobuchar.
The total number of Dem attendees was more than 5 times the republican count.
