    After scanning a few of the reviews it was obvious that Biden was the favorite for most people.

I caught a few minutes during the extended ABC commercial breaks and a few clips on MSNBC and agree with two things I’ve heard. 1. Whatever world Trump thinks he sees around him is one only he can see and 2. Savannah Guthrie had D’umbass for dessert last night. I hope she had a large bicarb of soda before she went to bed.

    I wanna throw things when I hear tRUMPsky’s voice.    I must not be the only one, as there’s an ad that runs here with no voiceover from anyone, except SFB approving the message at the end.   It’s still all lies, because it’s tied to tRUMP.
     
    I did see a still shot from NBC’s town hall.  Not enough orange spackle to cover his giant head.   You know what?  Steroids will make your head bigger.

    For those used to the battery of “what the fuck?” reactions to events headlined by Trump, transitioning to Biden’s 90-minute town hall was borderline jarring. There were no new policies pulled out of thin air and in contradiction with opinions stated only days ago; interrogatives from host George Stephanopoulos were answered with aplomb rather than outrage; at no point did Biden semi-endorse a death cult.
    The Trump campaign appeared flummoxed at how to spin what they had been hoping would be a humiliating defeat for Biden in the race for ratings.
    “Feels like I am watching an episode of Mister Rodgers [sic] Neighborhood,” summed up Trump campaign adviser Mercedes Schlapp midway through the dueling town halls. To Schlapp’s credit, there was a gauzy softness to the event that might bring to mind the Neighborhood of Make-Believe rather than the usual Trumpian apocalyptic predictions for the suburbs in a post-Trump era where cardigan sweaters are set aflame with reckless abandon.
    Still, to various players and operatives in Trumpworld, the president still managed to dramatically improve his public messaging compared to his widely panned (including among his close advisers) performance in the first Trump-Biden debate. Granted, that was setting the bar through the floor.

I do want to be clear – I’ve never cared much for Savannah Guthrie’s interviews on the Today Show and accordingly had very low expectations.  After seeing some of the exchanges I want to congratulate her – she did a very good job of calling him out on his lies and leaving him flummoxed and babbling.  Yes, yes he babbles all the time but he seldom seems flummoxed.  She got him there.

Renee, I’m of the opposite opinion regarding D’ump doing another debate with Biden.  I think he’s itching to do it.  He thinks the first one went very well, at least he says he thought it did.  I think he loves to be in a position to bully and interrupt a nice guy – makes him feel like he’s strong and thinks that’s what a debate is about.

Poobah, that Axios piece you linked has Stepien’s 3 paths to 270 for D’ump.  2 of them require him to win Michigan and 1 to win Pennsylvania, where RCP has Biden at 6.7 & 5.7 respectively.  It is only Trafalgar and Insider Advantage polls that hold his polling average down in PA and Trafalgar in MI – without them the RCP numbers are 7.25 in PA and 8.2 in MI. 538 rates Trafalgar at C- and doesn’t even include IA.  538 has Biden at 7.5 in  MI and 6.9 in PA.  I don’t remove pollsters from the 538 calculus because they weight results based on pollster ratings.

  66. Looking at this article from WaPo, I’d say Biden needs to turn some of that $383M to Facebook ads in the states he has to have.

It funded an estimated $794,000 per day as October began on ads to convince wavering voters and to turn out his base in several states key to his 2016 victory.
     
    Democratic nominee Biden spent about $621,000 per day on those types of ads in the same time period.
     
    That’s according to an analysis for The Washington Post of Facebook ad data published by the platform and provided by the New York University Online Political Transparency Project. The analysis looked specifically at paid ads targeted disproportionately to swing states, presumably to win votes, and did not include ads with broader reach, such as nationwide appeals for donations or email addresses. It also shows the voting blocs they’re both targeting, including seniors and Hispanic voters.
     
    Both campaigns are duking it out in key states, with Trump recently upping his Facebook persuasion effort in Florida and Biden doubling down on Pennsylvania.
     
    Biden has clearly widened the electoral map. Flush with cash frommotivated Democratic donors, his campaign is running Facebook ads in several states Trump won in 2016. He began spending an estimated $30,000 per day on vote-oriented ads around mid-September to contest the formerly deep-red state of Georgia. Notes about fossil fuel production in the U.S.  Many Gulf of Mexico platforms are still shut in, not producing oil.  There is still over capacity in the oil production so that is a problem if you do not like low gasoline prices.  Wind energy production in Texas keeps increasing with the resulting decrease in oil-gas use for energy.

    Off shoot of life, fantasy life that is – Just saw when Leroy Jethro Gibbs (NCIS tv show) enlisted in the Marines, 1976.  When he did that was a non-war year and he was not eligible for veterans benefits.  Part of the VA benefits is that you had to have served during certain wars or armed conflicts.  He stayed in the Marines and served in the Gulf War thereby getting VA benefits.  The TV series never shows him going to the VA or using any VA benefits.  I have had the unpleasant duty of informing people who had served in the U.S. military, but not during armed conflict, that they were not considered “veterans” under the law.  That has been pretty much changed as the U.S. has been in armed conflict since 2004.

    Dems could add as many as 14 senate seats. I’ll predict a pickup of AZ, CO, IA, ME, NC & GA (warnock) and a hairline loss of AL, for a net gain of 5.
     
    AK, MT, KS, NE, KY, TX, SC, GA (ossoff) and Jones in AL are also possible, but unlikely, wins.

    I’m praying for a clean sweep.

    1912, with taft coming in 3d out of a field of 4, w/23% of the Popular vote and getting only 2 states and 8 E.C. votes out of 531 was the worst. And trump deserves that record much more than taft did.
