    The Trump administration has ordered State Department employees to report on any instances of coworkers displaying “anti-Christian bias” as part of its effort to implement a sweeping new executive order on supporting employees of Christian faith working in the federal government.
    The department, according to a copy of an internal cable obtained by POLITICO, will work with an administration-wide task force to collect information “involving anti-religious bias during the last presidential administration” and will collect examples of anti-Christian bias through anonymous employee report forms.
    The cable was sent out to embassies around the world under Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s name. The instructions also were released in a department-wide notice.
    The document says the task force, which was established by the executive order, will meet around April 22 to discuss its initial findings.
    The cable encourages State Department employees to report on one another through a tip form that can be anonymous. “Reports should be as detailed as possible, including names, dates, locations (e.g. post or domestic office where the incident occurred,” the cable reads.
    Some State Department officials reacted to the cable with shock and alarm, saying that even if well-intentioned, it is based on the flawed premise that the department harbors anti-Christian bias to begin with, and warning it could create a culture of fear as the administration pushes employees to report on one another. There are large white christian nationalist organizations in Colorado Springs, home of the Academy. Quite a few cadets and staff have been tossed out, but leadership has encouraged the outsiders to operate there. At least until they are moved out.

    However, one section further down specifically mentions the U.S. military and the administration’s intent to have enlisted service members participate in civilian law enforcement actions.

    Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security and the heads of agencies as appropriate, shall increase the provision of excess military and national security assets in local jurisdictions to assist State and local law enforcement … [and] shall determine how military and national security assets, training, non-lethal capabilities, and personnel can most effectively be utilized to prevent crime.”

    *Well, habeas corpus is out the window, so throw out posse comitatus, too. Aaand, when SCOTUS says no, he’ll do it anyway. So much for turning everything back over to the states. This is authoritarian rule.

    Craig – I posted this last night, and this smells like martial law to me. Military assets to help state & local law enforcement deal with “crime.” ??? The US is a huge landmass (islands, aside), snd there are far more citizens than troop…and a lot of those citizens are armed. It seems that the US is not enough of a police state to satisfy Stephen Miller. If there was a mandate for what SFB is doing, they wouldn’t need to illegally deploy US troops on the citizenry.

    I made the mush. from scratch. I grew my corn, ground it and cooked it.
    Preparing for the coming apocalypse.
    Not going total old school, yet, I cooked it in a microwave and fried it on an electric induction range top. Also, the maple syrup was from Sams Club.
    BTW, I wanted to do a traditional Ozarks breakfast but I didn’t have any sorghum.

  24. Historical note. The US/Mexico border was wide open until after WW I. It was only partially limited until WW II. From then until well into the 1970s, regular ease for shopping etc at the major dual city locations was allowed with minimal ID other than crackdown periods such as the Eisenhower “wet backs” program. Of course there was the whole bracero program that brought in work crews for agriculture. Mexican school children attend US schools.

    When I think to the hundred or more times, I’ve crossed the border, it infuriates me that it is so big a political mess. Of course drugs and crime are a problem, but the majority of the people along that border simply want to work or shop and go home.

We already know that he has the Nixonian belief that if the president says it, it’s law. the foreseeable result is the military, at the direction of Dumbass, directing state law enforcement activities, in effect exercising martial law without having to say that’s what he’s done.
