  1. Pete Buttigieg draws a stark contrast between the concepts of “freedom” as put forward by Democrats and Republicans. Stick around for two more segments with Pete Buttigieg

    also click here for

Pete Buttigieg points out that a significant number of Republican figures, including current elected officials, appeared at the DNC because they don’t support their party’s nominee for president.

  2. I hope Bill hits the road for Kamala. I thought his address last night was very effective. “And I’m still younger than Donald Trump.” That’s after being out of office for almost 24 years. Draws a great contrast between Dumbass and Kamala.

  3. I thought Oprah would trigger him, but it was Shapiro…

    Donald J. Trump

    @realDonaldTrump

The highly overrated Jewish Governor of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, made a really bad and poorly delivered speech talking about freedom and fighting for Comrade Kamala Harris for President, yet she hates Israel and will do nothing but make its journey through the complexities of survival as difficult as possible, hoping in the end that it will fail. Judge only by her actions! Yet Shapiro, for strictly political reasons, refused to acknowledge that I am the best friend that Israel, and the Jewish people, ever had. I have done more for Israel than any President, and frankly, I have done more for Israel than any person, and it’s not even close. Shapiro has done nothing for Israel, and never will. Comrade Kamala Harris, the Radical Left Marxist who stole the nomination from Crooked Joe, will do even less. Israel is in BIG trouble!

  4. bet he didn’t write that one.  even if he did, from the looks of all the commas and words not usually used by him, it was edited.

  5. …he’s probably using the voice-to-text function on his phone, hence the lack of his signature caps-lock

he’s already defeated, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the highly-motivated vipers in his party are, their motivation is to not be exposed for their stupidity in nominating him, and that’s one helluva motivator

Vance’s political career is over if he loses, and i don’t see him having a lot of transferrable skills, and you don’t hear a lot from him lately, which means he’s scheming. What’s his value to his tech-overlords if he has no political influence? They’ll probably turn him into a living battery for one of their floating cities

they’re running the worst political campaign ive ever seen, it’s like the demon-spawn of the Dukakis and Kerry campaigns

ok i thought this was funny ✌️:

  6. BTW, some background as you watch the Walz family reacting to Coach Tim’s speech:

Tim Walz’s son Gus has a learning disorder. Can his visibility help disabled Americans? (msn.com)

    […]
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the vice-presidential running mate of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, has spoken openly and lovingly about his 17-year-old son Gus, who has ADHD, along with a non-verbal learning disorder and an anxiety disorder. Walz and his wife, Gwen, both former teachers, said recently in a statement to People magazine that they never considered Gus’ conditions an obstacle.
“Like so many American families, it took us time to figure out how to make sure we did everything we could to make sure Gus would be set up for success as he was growing up,” the couple said.
“It took time, but what became so immediately clear to us was that Gus’ condition is not a setback — it’s his secret power,” they added.
When Walz delivered his acceptance speech inside the packed United Center arena Wednesday night, Gus watched from the audience with his mother and sister, Hope, and sobbed.
“Hope, Gus and Gwen – you are my entire world, and I love you,” Walz said.
Gus Walz sprung from his seat, moved by his father’s words.
He pointed his index finger, saying “I love you, dad.”
    […]
In their statement to People magazine, Tim and Gwen Walz said they noticed Gus’ special abilities at an early age.
“When our youngest Gus was growing up, it became increasingly clear that he was different from his classmates,” they said. “Gus preferred video games and spending more time by himself.”
When he was becoming a teenager, they learned that in addition to an anxiety disorder, he has attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, a brain development condition that starts in childhood and is marked by trouble with maintaining attention, hyperactivity and impulse control difficulties.
ADHD in adults is relatively common and affects between 139 million and 360 million people worldwide, according to the Cleveland Clinic. With treatment, people can usually live fulfilling lives with limited effects from it.
    […]
Sen. Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War veteran who lost both of her legs and partial use of her right arm when her Black Hawk helicopter was hit by a grenade, said Walz’s openness about his son will benefit all Americans with disabilities.
“For so long, disability was a hidden thing – you took care of your loved ones, but you didn’t talk about it publicly,” Duckworth, D-Ill., said after speaking to disability advocates at the Democratic convention. “Many disabled people stayed in the home, are not out in the workplace, and we really need to normalize those people with disabilities in a normal society so that you can get the job, you can show people you can do the job.”
Regardless of the election outcome in November, Walz is already spotlighting ADHD and other learning disabilities just by talking about his son during the campaignadvocates said.
“We love our Gus,” Tim and Gwen Walz said in their statement. “We are proud of the man he’s growing into, and we are so excited to have him with us on this journey.”

  7. Those  people have to win this election or all their lives will be ruined.  That’s a pretty strong motivation.  They have no choice, win or be doomed.   (Actually, they’re already doomed, they just don’t know it yet.)

  8. Last thing we need is Donald Trump mishandling another virus… NYT: A case of the new and deadlier version of mpox has been confirmed in Thailand, health officials said Thursday. It’s the second time this version of the mpox virus, known as Clade lb, has been found outside Africa.

  9. Harris Thankfully Inherits Biden’s Economy in North Carolina – Bloomberg

Nowhere is the presidential race more transformed than in North Carolina where record personal income growth in the booming Biden economy has Harris poised to win the Electoral College for only the second time this century.

by Matthew A. Winkler, Bloomberg News

The vice president has essentially closed the gap with Donald Trump in this critical state, where jobs are being created by the thousands.

  10. Ah, Sweet Home Chicago.  What better place to throw a party?  Next time lets party in New Orleans, then maybe New York City.
All the rest of the country is just too dull.
    Jack

  11. Craig
Some good basic /disruptive ads, just use his quotes and a few pictures like this  “the new Republican party’ and then ask “are you sure you are still a Republican?” Run them in every suburb/small city in the nation.

  12. Buddy Guy – saw him about a dozen years ago at the amphitheater down by the Flats in Cleveland.  Phenomenal player and phenomenal show.  A kid had brought a guitar with him to have Buddy sign.  Buddy called him up on the stage and had him play a couple of songs with him. It was a really nice gesture.

  13. Sifting through my various news sources, The Democrats have done a very good job of getting their surrogates out and messaging. Not just the usual cable outlets, but also places like Bloomberg, with a corporate feel good message.
    Jack

  14. Overnight ratings for Night Three of the conventions. Seven networks combined:

    DNC – 11.7 (9-11:45p)

    RNC – 9.1 (10-11:30p)

    Difference: 29%

    ———————

Ratings for the speeches by the VP nominees:

    Walz – 11.9 (11:15-11:45)

    Vance – 9.6 (10:45-11:30)

    Difference: 24%

    ———————

Dems won Night 1 by 21%, Night 2 by 37%

  15. A few years back, Mr. Ivy’s summer vacations were going to guitar camps. One summer they went to Chicago and Buddy Guy held a teaching session for them at his club. Old guys are welcomed, but it was the kids who stole the show. Many child prodigies out there we can hope to see one day.

We always go to his shows when we can get to one. He loves his audience. Imus made a wisecrack one time about “backstage Buddy.” It was mean and anything but the truth.

Maybe the old days. He does have some wild stories he tells.

He gets his money up front. Stiffed too many times.

  16. He knows he has zero impulse control. His loose lips will sink his ships.

Donald Trump told the Daily Mail he would not be getting intelligence briefings as the Republican nominee for president for fear of being accused of leaking classified information.
Said Trump: “I don’t want them, because, number one, I know what’s happening. It’s very easy to see what’s happening.”

  17. The fake Christians aka MAGAts apparently don’t know what familial love looks like.   The Walz family is beautiful, but all the MAGAts see is emotional weakness and disability.
Oprah is too powerful for Adolf to target, no matter how pissed off he was at her speech. He needs PA, so he has to go after Shapiro.
JD is just a younger Ted Cruz.  Snakes.

  18. Ivy – I say they feed him a piece of fake intel and see where it ends up…or  how quickly it ends up in Moscow.

  19. https://www.texastribune.org/2024/08/22/colin-allred-dnc-kamala-harris-texas-ted-cruz/

Speaking of Snakey Ted, here’s hoping Allred’s  speech at the DNC tonight helps him kick Cruz to Cancun, without hurting Harris.

“He has so far run his race largely independent of Democrats outside the state, focusing on Texas issues rather than yoking his candidacy to the presidential ticket. During an address to the Texas delegation on Thursday morning, Allred leaned heavily into attacking Cruz without mentioning Harris.”

“In an interview Thursday, Allred acknowledged that voters he is trying to court may not be as supportive of Harris, who was a much more progressive lawmaker during her time in the U.S. Senate. Allred has voted against his party on recent messaging bills, including on the administration’s handling of the border.”

He needs to pick a side of the fence.   I’ve become disillusioned with Allred, but he’s better than the alternative.   I really am concerned about how he’ll come across tonight.

  20. I know what I’ll be doing. We get them at Sam’s Club. Quick and easy. They don’t mark the little cards anymore.

The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday approved the latest slate of annual Covid vaccines, clearing the way for Americans 6 months and older to receive updated shots in the midst of a prolonged summer surge of the virus. In recent weeks, people have been hospitalized with Covid at a rate nearly twice as high as during the same time last summer. By late July, Covid was killing roughly 600 Americans each week, a substantial drop from this winter but double the number from this spring. The availability of boosters has not translated into actual vaccinations. By spring, only one in five adults had received last year’s updated Covid vaccine. Even older Americans, who are at far greater risk of being severely sickened, largely spurned the shots, with only 40 percent of people 75 and older taking last year’s vaccine.

  21. https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/dnc-democratic-national-convention-08-22-24/index.html

“Former President Donald Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club will host an “awards gala” next month to recognize the men who contributed to the “Justice for All” song and who were incarcerated for their role riot on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

“Trump has been invited to the September 5 event, which will be hosted by a pro-Trump PAC NEW GEN 47 and Vote Your Vision, as a guest speaker.”

“As of now, it is unclear whether Trump would attend the event, a source familiar with the matter told CNN, adding Trump had not accepted the invitation to speak.”

It’s being hosted at his property, so…let’s see if that comes up at the debate in the 10th. Between the 5th and 10th, let’s hope for leaked footage, even if he doesn’t speak. Let’s see who comes and goes the day of the event. Traitors!

  22. Last night the Democratic party served notice that it is not satisfied with its coalition of African Americans, Hispanics, progressives, urbanites, suburbanites, union workers, and educated professionals. Democrats are making a play for rural white voters, too. It was an extraordinary piece of programming aimed at the heart of the Republican coalition and it suggests that Kamala Harris is not trying to win a narrow, blue-wall victory. She’s making a play for a realigning election.

  23. Ivy – It’ll be jab #7 for me, if I can find one.  The nearest chain pharmacy is 30 miles away, and I have highway driving anxiety.

  24. It would not surprise me if President Biden put restrictions on what the IC can tell sfb.  Also, there may have been specific pieces that were given to the orange idiot that were overheard in the Kremlin or North Korea by Western IC people.  His actions from the start were for his BFF puttie.  He also let the world know he favors his intelligence coming from puttie.  He will rot.

  25. Leave it to conservatives to attack an emotional kid with ADHD, an anxiety disorder and a non-verbal learning disorder as being disabled.  Morons.  The number of kids dxed with ADHD is pretty large and anxiety is as common as rain.  And non-verbal learning disorders occur in 3-4% of the population, and it isn’t disabling.  Insensitive asshats.

“Rather than wring their hands, his parents emphasized that he “is brilliant, hyper-aware of details that many of us pass by, and above all else, he’s an excellent son and brother to his sibling.”
“Walz appears to be doing his part on improving the lives of people with disabilities as governor. As my friend David Perry wrote, he’s worked on phasing out parental fees for children on Medicaid, which would reduce the financial burden for parents of children with disabilities.”
“Similarly, the Walz family is fortunate to live in Minnesota, which has programs like Partners in Policymaking (established in 1987) to help people with disabilities and to help their loved ones become better advocates. An AARP survey ranked Minnesotaas the No. 1 state overall for long-term services and supports. As for Harris herself, she was the first presidential candidate to release a disability policy in the 2020 Democratic primary.”

  27. i completely understand the trump crazies, if you’re an anti-lgbtq racist, trump’s your guy!

the people i don’t understand are the suburbanites who would sell their entire society for a tax-break, so myopic

(maybe they are also anti-lgbtq racists, and the tax-break shit is just what they say to people like me )

  28. Read them, report them as spam or hate speech or bullying or posting false information, then block them.  It’s my favorite pastime I retired.   Do not engage directly. Yes, more bots and trolls will show up, but once in awhile you get to send a real MAGAt to time out.

  29. no one under 40 knows what “comrade” even implies, guy is stuck in 1985

…and he just told them for 8 years to like Russia 🤦‍♂️

i enjoyed when he said yesterday, “maybe she’s a marxist or maybe she’s a communist, i’m not sure which” 😆

Oh and he also told the crowd of country folk “I used to be friends with Bill Clinton, did you know that?”, they must have been so confused

  30. Loved watching everyone rocking out to John Legend last night.  Pink and The Chicks confirmed for tonight.  Whether the rumored Swift and Beyonce will show is unconfirmed.  Mix that with politics you can believe in makes for a great show.

  31. So he’s going to go back to “Truth” Social and apply his fictitious view of his accomplishments as president as a real-time fact check on Kamala’s speech tonight?  I suspect he’ll wear out the all caps button on his phone tonight doing his LIVE PLAY BY PLAY. Maybe Faux will split screen it.

  32. If he listens carefully and takes notes, he’ll no doubt learn he’s the proverbial marked man and she’s a marks-ist.

(Only in the political sense, of course, not literally, though we English majors love to say “literally speaking,” mark my word.)

  33. Never Voters…they’re probably not tuned-in but there has to be a way to reach them with the urgency of their participation.

  34. Ivy – “marked man” has a lot of meaning today.  There is/was a search for a male who had made threats to make holes in one sfb when he was blabbing about how the U.S. has collapsed and waves of immigrants were crawling over him to get into Texas.  There are a lot of threads, so I will not bother with those as they do not matter.  What matters is that apparently stupid was not informed of the manhunt until faux snooze talked to him.

Hehe.  This has to add to his paranoia of the real world encroaching on his alternate universe.  I had pondered a while ago about why we never heard of assassination attempts on the orange idiot.  It was quite odd to hear nothing.  Now we have two, one attempt and one trying to attempt, within weeks.  The first was obvious, death and serious injuries, along with one that needed a Maxi-Pad on an ear.  Today’s seems to be taken very serious by the Secret Service.

The bullet proof glass yesterday and now another possible attempt to kill him, sfb must be starting to think he might not be “loved” anymore.

  35. CNN on TV ratings: Last night Dems 20 million, GOP 3d night 18 million.

Chris Wallace: “three nights in a row more people watched the Democratic convention”.

Fun Fact: In the last three Presidential cycles the candidate with the larger TV audience for their nomination acceptance speech has gone on to win the Presidency.

  36. Kelce has a pre-season game tonight, playing the Bears, but in KC.  Maybe…

BB – It does seem odd that an apparent attempt that resulted in death and injury to others is not a story.  Why? It’s weird, yeah?

Vice President of the United States

  38. bId – I am stunned by what little coverage there was of the man who was killed.  There was some notes on the media, but a lot not.  There was nothing about the three who were also hit, but not killed.  Locally there was something about how far magat the former fire fighter was, he was far magat.  There was a little about the guy who fired the rounds and he was a republican.  almost all of it was skimmed and forgotten.

  39. Joe Neguse is my new Joe. I like him better than the no-name Gary Palmer.

Our Rep. Gary Palmer did nothing, no word, not one thing in the wake of our devastating covid loss. Worthless anonymous politician.

  40. Ted Lieu… should have been in a better time slot.

He got the best time slot, i’m ready for bed.

Walz was on wayyyy too late, thankfully the clips were compelling

Liz, the President that should have been

That should have been her farewell speech after two successful terms 😒

(oh wait, this would have been her reelection, time’s a flat circle 🤷‍♂️)

  41. An aside – How many of you have stood in front of a crowd and delivered a speech? It is not the easiest thing to do. Some find it fun and exhilirating, others pee their pants.

I am so happy to see an excited crowd.

  42. Blue Bronc, I have. It’s hard. I was always relieved when I was done.

I usually had to write them too. That was more fun.

  43. this whole Rev. Al/CP5 segment is amazing

guy in the jacket and cap is my new hero

Wow, i didn’t know Kamala was the one who shut-down backpage, i remember the story though

  44. He’s impervious to facts. It’s all his gut and he has a big gut. No wonder he spends all night on the toilet.

  45. So if y’all didn’t understand DJ’ing before, you do now

a lot of very impressive speakers

  46. It used to be my job to tally the Affirmative Action data and one time I had cause to inquire a certain blue-eyed blonde employee’s form. She assured me her grandmother was full blood Cherokee.

  47. Normally these forms were anonymous but on this occasion, her hiring was being challenged in an EEOC discrimination charge that I defended and won.

  48. My first psychometric gig was on Sand Mountain in NE ‘Bama – testing kids with Native American heritage to qualify for special grants. All had been cleared as having one full blooded forebear within 3 generations. The kids ran from light skinned blonds to kids who had dark skin, black hair and distinctive NA features. Great kids. None seemed to question the heritage of any others.
    Fuck Trump.

  49. Mitt having fun…

    Mitt Romney
    @MittRomney
Contrary to fake news posts, I am not the surprise guest at the DNC tonight. My guess is that it will be Beyoncé or Taylor Swift. So disappointing, I know!

  50. I’m glad we are taking back our flag. I was never one for flag-burning and the upside-down-flag-desecrators I see in our neighboring Boebert County are in that unpatriotic category, freedom of speech notwithstanding. As the mother of a 4th of July baby (like Michelle), no one is stealing my patriotism. 🇺🇸

  51. this is the hippest sober dance party i’ve ever seen

    Joe did this ☝️

OMG, DL had some good jokes 😆

  52. Meghan McCain
    @MeghanMcCain
Maybe republicans just shouldn’t have conventions… just forfeit because I DO NOT KNOW HOW YOU CAN COMPETE WITH THIS! #DNC2024

  53. Leon Panetta, good message to Republicans.

    The hell you can.

Donald Trump does not understand… anything.

  54. that american flag optical illusion is crazy. oh wait, it’s a curved screen maybe 🧐

    Curved screens are crazy

i was wondering what trump is saying but on 2nd thought i actually don’t give a shit

  55. Pathetic…

    Donald J. Trump

    @realDonaldTrump

LYING AGAIN ABOUT PROJECT 2025, WHICH SHE KNOWS, AND SO DO ALL DEMOCRATS, THAT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH!

  56. She’s an awesome orator. Will run rings around him at the debate anytime he pauses to catch his wheezy breath.

  57. Lying Sack of Shit. He THANKED the Heritage Foundation for writing the policies he’d enact when elected

  58. Trump is having a multi-post breakdown.

On the balloons, currently about 17 of 20 people have micro plastics in their bloodstream contributing to heart disease and cancers.

  59. i liked the microplastics episode of Doctor Who

Aliens used nanotechnology to control the microplastics in the bodies of all earthly organic beings to try to conquer our world, but Doctor Who and pals stopped them

Maybe the DNC used soy balloons 🤷‍♂️

just kidding but if they were latex they’re biodegradable

  60. wow that’s joke of the year

a close second is DL Hughly from tonight:

“I can’t wait for trump to debate Kamala. He is about to find out what it’s like to try and win an argument with a black woman. I am 0 for 93,000”

ok pardon me, i am high on hope, let’s gooooooo 🇺🇸 😴

  61. Peaceful transfer of power is going to have to mean something more than caving-in to a thief’s hollow claims of victory.

  62. https://grist.org/article/griscom-dnc/
“Environmentalism is descending on the Democratic National Convention this week in the form of biodegradable balloons and recycled confetti — and that’s just the beginning.”

Couldn’t find anything for this convention, just this from 20 years ago, so I’m sure they handled the ballon drop responsibly.   In fact, at least at the time of this article, there was a Coalition for Environmentally Friendly Conventions.

  63. That thief has corrupt SC justices in his pocket, and an assload of supporters with more bullets than brain cells.

  64.
From the NOAA, Marine Debris Program web site

Balloons can be made of either rubber or plastic. Plastic (Mylar) balloons have a seam and are made of a metal (foil) coated plastic such as polyethylene or nylon. They usually have a shiny, reflective surface and oftentimes have designs with pictures and/or words. Latex balloons are the traditional ‘party’ balloons. They are also often used at festivals, open houses, sales, mass balloon releases, etc. These balloons are made of natural or synthetic latex, are usually round or oval in shape, and can come in a variety of colors.

  65. BTW since it was indoors, the balloons will lose their helium over night and gently fall to the floor when they will be sweep up and hauled off to a landfill along with all the other stuff too expensive to sort, probably outside of Chicago in Republican Illinois.
