This North Korean documentary, although a tiring and repetitive 42 minutes long, really is kinda fascinating (you can always fast-forward for just a sampling). It shows what our media would look like if Trump and his courtiers get their way.

âWhatâs He Doing Here?â: Inside Trumpâs Turbulent Relationship With Michael Cohen
At the Trump Organization, the future president appreciated lawyerâs loyalty but doubted his professional abilities and judgment; a big pay cut
Donald Trump summoned senior aides to his 26th floor office at Trump Tower around 2009 for an unpleasant task: Persuade Michael Cohenâa top lawyer at his companyâto resign, according to one of the aides.
Mr. Trumpâs frustration had reached a breaking point, the aide said. Mr. Cohen wasnât getting things done and Mr. Trump didnât believe he was a good fit at the Trump Organization, even though he liked him and didnât want to fire him. âWhatâs he doing here?â Mr. Trump demanded.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trumpâs former campaign chairman Paul Manafort is set to ask a federal judge on Friday not to revoke his bail and send him to jail pending trial after Special Counsel Robert Mueller filed new charges of witness tampering last week.
[âŚ.]
Muellerâs team this month asked the judge to revoke Manafortâs bail, saying his âobstructiveâ conduct âinstills little confidence that restrictions short of detention will assure Manafortâs compliance with the courtâs orders and prevent him from committing further crimes.â

BiD, looks like Stephen Colbert agrees with you
Hollywood reporter:
[âŚ.]
Colbert, who is a practicing Roman Catholic and at one point taught Sunday school, particularly took issue with Sessions’ explanation of the policy using passages from the Bible on Thursday. “I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained the government for his purposes,” Sessions said on Wednesday, after an American Catholic cardinal criticized the administration for its separation policy. “Orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves. Consistent, fair application of law is in itself a good and moral thing and that protects the weak, it protects the lawful. Our policies that can result in short-term separation of families are not unusual or unjustified.”
In response, Colbert shot back: “Hey, don’t bring God into this. First of all, I don’t think God picked you, because I don’t worship Vladimir Putin.” He also advised Sessions read further, to Romans 13:10, which called for people to “Love thy neighbor as thyself” and consider love “the fulfillment of the law.”
“It’s just plain wrong,” Colbert ended his speech. “So for Father’s Day call your elected representatives and demand they do something. Because I sincerely believe that it doesn’t matter who you voted for, if we let this happen in our name, we are a feckless country.”

Manafort Heads to Jail After Judge Criticizes Witness Tampering
Update: Paul Manafort was ordered locked up ahead of his two trials for bank fraud and money laundering.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington revoked Manafortâs bail Friday after prosecutors said Manafort, President Donald Trumpâs former campaign chairman, attempted to tamper with witnesses for his trial.
Jailing him before trial adds to the pressure Manafort faces to cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller and spill any secrets he knows about Trump and the campaign. Confronting possible criminal charges in New York, Trumpâs former lawyer Michael Cohen may have a similar choice ahead of him. Cohen hasnât been accused of wrongdoing.
Prosecutors made the Manafort detention request on June 4, when they argued in court papers that he tried to tamper with two witnesses after he was indicted in Washington for a second time on Feb. 23. Four days later, a grand jury indicted Manafort anew, accusing him and an associate of witness tampering. Manafort has pleaded not guilty.
Jackson said she had no way to stop Manafort from contacting people while heâs out on bail.
âThis is not middle school,â she told lawyers. âI canât take his cellphone.â

New York Court of Appeals says the case can move forward.
The New York Court Appeals denied Donald Trumpâs motion to dismiss the Summer Zervos defamation lawsuit against him. This is the third time the president has tried and failed to get the case tossed or delayed, reports ABC News.
Thursdayâs decision allows discovery in the case to move forward â something that Trumpâs legal team likely fears because it could force the president to testify about his treatment of women, among other things, under oath.
[âŚ.]
Trump still has another appeal pending, but Thursdayâs ruling basically means Zervosâs attorneys can keep gathering evidence â which could eventually lead to Trump being deposed in the case.
Trump isnât totally out of options. The courtâs decision didnât rule on the merits of Trumpâs argument â whether state courts donât have jurisdiction over the president â and instead said it couldnât yet rule on because the lower court hasnât made a final decision on the presidentâs motions.
âThe Court of Appeals did not address the merits of the issue at stake here (an issue first raised by the U.S. Supreme Court in Clinton v. Jones) â namely, that, under the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution, state courts do not have jurisdiction over a sitting President,â a spokesperson for the presidentâs attorney, Marc Kasowitz, said in a statement to ABC News.
The Zervos lawsuit may seem minor compared to some of Trumpâs potential legal troubles. But if it does go forward, the discovery process could reveal evidence about allegations of sexual misconduct against Trump, and, if it gets that far, force the president into a deposition.
It might also matter to the just-filed New York attorney generalâs lawsuit against Trump and his charity. As University of Texas law professor Steve Vladeck pointed out on Twitter, it could also cement âthe propriety of the major new suit by [New York state Attorney General] being brought in state â rather than federal â court.â

I resent the fact that the map maker placed Minnesota on the wrong side of the border.
Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia also belong with the sane states.
If it weren’t for the cheating, PA, WI & MI would be on the correct side of the border, the latter two linking up with IL. If that could be fixed, only NM & CO would be left as islands in the sea of hate and ignorance. Of course, they could revert to Mexico, which would probably start the 2d Civil War or the 2d Mexican War. I’m sure NATO would help the forces of Light.

A federal judge on Friday refused to grant Michael Cohen, Donald Trumpâs longtime personal lawyer, an immediate restraining order against the attorney for the adult film actor Stormy Daniels.
US district judge James Otero said Cohen had not shown he would suffer âimmediate, irreparable injuryâ without emergency relief against Danielsâ lawyer, Michael Avenatti.
Daniels claims to have had a sexual relationship with Trump. In October 2016, Cohen set up a limited liability corporation, Essential Consulting, that was used to pay Daniels as part of a hush agreement. Cohen was reimbursed by the president.
Cohen has been under the microscope since FBI agents raided residences and an office belonging to him on 9 April.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, a day of high political drama, Trump said Cohen was ânot my lawyer any moreâ.
âI always liked Michael Cohen,â the president said. âI havenât spoken to Michael in a long time.â
He added: âNo, heâs not my lawyer any more. But I always liked Michael, and heâs a good person.â

wapo:Â Â âNothing to do with our campaignâ: Trump seeks to distance himself from Manafort before heâs jailed
President Trump sought Friday to distance himself from his former campaign manager Paul Manafort just hours before a federal judge decided to jail Manafort while he awaits trial.
âManafort has nothing to do with our campaign,â Trump told reporters at the White House, adding that he felt âa little badlyâ that prosecutors were targeting the longtime Republican operative for actions taken more than a decade ago.
âYou know, Paul Manafort worked for me for a very short period of time,â Trump said, before ticking off other Republican presidential nominees with whom Manafort has been affiliated. âHe worked for Ronald Reagan, he worked for Bob Dole, he worked for John McCain or his firm did. He worked for many other Republicans. He worked for me for what? For 49 days or something? A very short period of time.â
In fact, Manafort served 144 days as Trumpâs campaign chairman. He was hired in late March 2016 and resigned in mid-August of that year â a stretch that included the Republican convention where Trump was formally nominated.

cbs news:
Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani suggested that once Special Counsel Robert Mueller wraps up his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, President Trump could issue pardons to some of the people swept up in the case.
“When the whole thing is over, things might get cleaned up with some presidential pardons,” he told the New York Daily News — on the day former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was being sent to jail for violating the terms of his bail for witness tampering.
[âŚ.]
Giuliani, who is a former federal prosecutor, also questioned the judge’s decision to revoke Manafort’s bail. “I don’t understand the justification for putting him in jail,” Giuliani told the Daily News. “You put a guy in jail if he’s trying to kill witnesses, not just talking to witnesses.”

China will slap hefty tariffs on U.S. goods in retaliation for President Trump‘s decision to levy duties on $50 billion worth of Chinese imports.
Beijing will impose an additional 25 percent tariff on a total of 659 U.S. imports worth about $50 billion, according to a statement on country’s Ministry of Finance website.
The first batch of tariffs will hit 545 U.S. products worth about $34 billion, including agricultural products, such as soybeans, corn and wheat, automobiles, beef, pork and seafood, and will start July 6.
hina then plans to levy the tariffs on 114 more U.S. products including oil, gas, coal and medical equipment that will start at a later date.
China’s Ministry of Commerce had promised swift retaliation after Trump announced the tariffs on Friday morning.
Trump said that if China counter his move he would consider additional tariffs.

Bloomberg:
U.S. prosecutors reconstructed 16 pages of shredded documents that were part of the material seized April 9 from President Donald Trumpâs former attorney Michael Cohen.
The government said it also obtained 731 pages of messages, including call logs, from applications such as WhatsApp and Signal, which encrypt data, and about 315 megabytes from a BlackBerry. The material is the most recent to be produced to Cohenâs legal team out of more than 3.7 million items taken in the FBI search of his home, hotel room and office.
The information was contained in a letter updating the judge who is overseeing the review of the seized files. Lawyers for the government on Friday detailed files that were turned over to Cohenâs team in the last two days. Both sides asked U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood to give Cohenâs legal team 10 days to review the new material.

“The statement by the USAO that the FBI has recovered 16 pages of shredded documents and 731 encrypted messages may be ominous for Michael Cohen,” Mitchell Epner, an attorney at Rottenberg Lipman Rich who was previously an assistant US attorney for the District of New Jersey, told Business Insider.
Epner said that while the encrypted messages may not prove incriminating, the 16 pages of reconstructed shredded documents seemed “more likely to be a problem for Mr. Cohen.”
“Given the lack of rigor with which Mr. Cohen apparently conducted himself, I shudder to think what was so sensitive that even Michael Cohen thought, ‘I better shred this,'” Epner said.

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team scored a procedural victory Friday in its case against a Russian company accused of bankrolling a vast campaign to meddle in the 2016 election, successfully fighting back an effort to review the instructions given to grand jury before it indicted the company.
Federal Judge Dabney Friedrich rejected a request by the Russian company, Concord Management and Consulting, that asked her to examine the instructions provided to the grand jury. Concord accused Mueller’s prosecutors of giving faulty instructions, tainting the grand jury’s decision to approve charges.
Concord had sought the judge’s review of the grand jury instructions so it could later build an argument alleging due process violations. The company plans to eventually file a motion to drop the indictment.
The judge also signaled that a protective order would ultimately be imposed in the case as the discovery phase begins and both sides start sifting through millions of digital records. Mueller’s team had asked for a sweeping protective order that would restrict how Concord handles documents and what would get shared with the other defendants. But Friedrich said she preferred a middle-ground approach.
