  1. So William Barr knew of the investigation into Giuliani friends Parna and Ferma, arrested today, back in February.

    Yesterday Barr visited the SDNY prosecutors who filed these charges.

    Also yesterday the two dudes pictured above had lunch with Giuliani, then they immediately bought one-way tickets to Germany and were arrested at Dulles airport hours later before they could use those tickets.

    Did Barr tip off Rudy, who tipped off the suspects?

  4. President Trump said Thursday that he doesn’t know the two business associates of his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani who were arrested on campaign finance charges, but acknowledged he may have been photographed with them at some point.

    “I don’t know those gentleman. Now, it’s possible I have a picture with them because I have a picture with everybody,” Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House.

    “I don’t know them, I don’t know about them, I don’t know what they do,” Trump added. “I don’t know, maybe they were clients of Rudy’s. You’d have to ask Rudy.”

    joe peel was a Stetson grad and lawyer, who moved to West Palm Beach in the late 40s. He did not live by his oath. He liked living beyond his pay. After becoming a judge, and to make ends meet, he took up a part time job as a grafter for bootleggers and the illegal bolita business. As a judge, peel could tip off bootleggers and bolita sellers when police were going to stage raids. Entrepreneurs who didn’t pay the judge got caught. In a very short time peel was making 2 to 3 times as much from his racket than from being a judge. All this was fine until a client from years back complained that as a private attorney, peel had botched her divorce. peel told her she was divorced, but she wasn’t. She got remarried and found out several years later that she was a polyandress.

    The un-divorcee’s complaint landed on the desk of a starched underwear sort of judge named Chillingworth. Judge Chillingworth began proceedings against peel, which would ultimately mean disbarment and the loss of peel’s license.
    To protect himself from Chillingworth, peel talked a lowlife (and republican!) named Holzapfel into murdering the honest judge. Holzapfel took on an assistant named Lincoln, who was a bigshot in bolita sales, and the two went off to drown Chillingworth. Things rarely go exactly as planned, and so it was with the snuff plot. At exactly the wrong moment Mrs Chillingworth showed up, so they had to murder her, too.

  10. I seldom agree with George Will, and can’t remember the last time I quoted or posted a link to one of his articles.  I will make an exception.  Here’s his from today’s WaPo.

     
    Trump’s gross and comprehensive incompetence now increasingly impinges upon the core presidential responsibility. This should, but will not, cause congressional Republicans to value their own and their institution’s dignity and exercise its powers more vigorously than they profess fealty to Trump. He has issued a categorical refusal to supply witnesses and documents pertinent to the House investigation of whether he committed an impeachable offense regarding Ukraine. This refusal, which is analogous to an invocation of the Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination, justifies an inference of guilt. Worse, this refusal attacks our constitutional regime. So, the refusal is itself an impeachable offense.

    As comparable behavior was in 1974. Then, the House articles of impeachment against President Richard M. Nixon indicted him for failing “without lawful cause or excuse to produce papers and things as directed by duly authorized subpoenas issued by” a House committee, and for having “interposed the powers of the presidency against the lawful subpoenas” of the House.
     

    If Trump gets away with his blanket noncompliance, the Constitution’s impeachment provision, as it concerns presidents, will be effectively repealed, and future presidential corruption will be largely immunized against punishment.

    Trump is not just aggressively but lawlessly exercising the interests of his place, counting on Congress, after decades of lassitude regarding its interests, being an ineffective combatant. Trump’s argument, injected into him by subordinates who understand that absurdity is his vocation, is essentially that the Constitution’s impeachment provisions are unconstitutional.

    The canine loyalty of Senate Republicans will keep Trump in office. But until he complies with House committee subpoenas, the House must not limply hope federal judges will enforce their oversight powers. Instead, the House should wield its fundamental power, that of the purse, to impose excruciating costs on executive branch noncompliance. This can be done.

    peel only gave a small amount of the money he owed holzapfel. holzapfel had to go on the lam, because he’d been tied to a different murder. lincoln was caught by the Feds and put away for a few years on a gambling charge. When holzapfel showed up again and wanted money, peel tried to recruit a couple more lowlifes to drown that problem, too. Another murder was necessary because peel had an idea that he should become the governor of Florida. The lowlifes peel had in mind to kill holzapfel were actually informers in the pay of the Palm Beach County prosecutor, a pugnacious guy named Phil O’Connell. peel’s life fell apart like a brand new Yugo. The trial was held in 1960.
    lincoln got immunity for testifying against peel, and was freed in 1962. holzapfel didn’t get a deal, but was spared electrocution for testifying against peel. He died in prison in 1996. Peel was found guilty of being an accessory to murder, and served from 1960 to 1982. He died of cancer 8 days after his parole.

    An NPR/Marist poll released Thursday indicated that 52 percent of Americans back the impeachment inquiry, with 43 percent opposed. Independent voters had flipped within a few weeks from majority opposition to such an inquiry (50 percent to 44 percent) to majority support (54 percent to 41 percent.)
    Several other recent polls, from Ipsos, YouGov and Quinnipiac University, have shown rising support for impeachment. The Quinnipiac poll showed an outright majority (53 percent to 43 percent) supporting the inquiry, and a sizable minority (45 percent) wanting Trump removed from office outright.
    The Fox News poll released Wednesday found that 51 percent favored Trump’s removal from office, a position shared by 57 percent of female voters, 50 percent of white female voters, 39 percent of independent voters and even 12 percent of self-described “Trump voters.”

    Oct. 10 (UPI) — President Donald Trump said Thursday that former Rep. Trey Gowdy must wait a “couple months” before joining his personal legal team one day after his new role was announced.
    Trump said lobbying rules are preventing the former Republican congressman from South Carolina from joining the team immediately.
    “I think there’s a problem with … he can’t start for another couple months because of lobbying rules and regulations,” the president said. “So you’ll have to ask about that. I just heard that Trey Gowdy can’t start til some time after January because of the lobbying rules and regulations. So I don’t know. We’ll have to see.”

  30. It might be telling that Gowdy is actually following the law and not taking the lawless approach that is the normal SFB path.  The banana pudding brain (took that off the Twitter machine) talking about the time issue might be signaling that he wants Gowdy to break the law.

He’d just be another shitbucket lobbyist in a government so overflowing with shitbucket lobbyists that it’s like a sewer backing up, with a tidal wave of fecal material from yesterday and yesteryear pounding relentlessly against the Senate. 
    gowdy might prefer prostituting himself among DC’s disease-raddled derelicts.

According to two different White House general staffers and a mid-level aide in the West Wing, Trey Gowdy sat with both President Trump and Vice-President Pence for several hours today to discuss the “future of the 2020 ticket.”
    Rumors have been swirling around the Executive Mansion for weeks that Mike Pence may feel like he could be more beneficial delivering the state of Indiana and running for Senate to fill the seat of Kelly MaCadoo, who has decided to join the ranks of the RINO and retire in 2020. Pence is the best option to keep that seat and it still put him in a good position to run in 2024.

  39. The House can organize the impeachment process in any way it wants. If it were to decide to hold an Australian vote on the matter, I’m guessing that the Senate would follow suit with the trial.
