Making The Disabled Work Again

WASHINGTON (Miami Herald) — “President Donald Trump fulfilled a major campaign promise Tuesday, proposing a $4.1 trillion budget plan that would upend Washington in a big way. … The proposal reflects a conservative vision of smaller government, a drastic rollback of programs for the poor and disabled to prod them into the workforce and a robust hike for the military and border security. It foresees scuttling Barack Obama’s health care law and an overhaul of the tax code, a boon to the wealthiest Americans. … The plan is laced with $3.6 trillion in cuts to domestic agencies, food stamps, Medicaid, highway funding, crop insurance and medical research, among others. Many of the voters who propelled Trump into the presidency last November would see significantly less from the federal government.”

Stephen stance on the White House’s proposed slashing of the food stamp program and children’s health insurance program is somehow radical in 2017.

  2. Trump’s budget is a vision of the GOP idea of the “deserving & undeserving” poor.  No excuses.  If you are unemployed and/or poor, you must have done something wrong in life including picking the wrong parents.

  3. I guess this is his idea of being Christ-like and commanding the disabled to”Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.” (John 5:8)

  4. Johnny Cash’s Cadillac Song. It’s said that Nixon wanted him to sing about the ‘welfare’ Cadillacs at the White House, but Cash refused. Good for him.

  5. The middle class sure sent those fat cats in Washington a message!

Hey, i just found a copy of the message! It reads: “fuck us harder, we won’t do shit about it”.

  6. The criminalization and punishment of the poor

BID got it right..something only an Evil Loser would do

    ps
No wonder Donald Sr likes real Donaldjr and her spouse turns out Jared is a slum lord

Since only tax payers have a right to speak..can we expect the return of the poll tax?

“I know this is an unpopular position these days, but I believe children should go to the doctor and eat.”

I believe the same goes for all age groups.

  8. More on realDonaldTrumpjr’s head.  Covered her head for the Pope–

so did Melanoma who should refuse to wear anthing on her head on style grounds yikes

You mean, the deadbeat pussypincher has no right to speak ?!?

  10. boss, I think this is the real shocker for critterville to see in that poll:

American voters believe 54 – 43 percent that President Donald Trump is abusing the powers of his office, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

isn’t abuse of power one of the main pillars supporting impeachment? and if it was good enough for dick and bill, it should be good enough for lil Donnie.

  11. craig,  whites made up 71% of the electorate and college educated whites comprised 37% and non-college whites comprised 34%. If those opinions translated to votes it would swing the white vote by 8 points among non college whites and by 9 points among college educated whites.  That would result in a 6% swing overall.  Plus, and this is telling IMHO, Trump’s approval rating among white non-college is 15 points less than his support was among that group in the election.  Think that might make a difference, say, in the 2018 midterms if those attitudes hold? Looking at teh particulars of the poll, I wouldn’t bet on Trump or anyone associated with him in the voters’ eyes (except of course in those safe gerrymandered republican districts).

  12. Looking at Melania in the Vatican, I suspect she would be much happier as a Sister with Mother Teresa in India.

  13. Continuing from last night’s post.  When I applied for Social Security Disability in 1991 I was dying of Hepatitis C and B, and other unknown diseases.  I had blood transfusions in 1980 which were contaminated with HCV, HBV and other diseases.  Hep C was unknown  to the general medical community until 1994.  My doctors and all the specialists never tested me for hepatitis because I did not do drugs and had no tatoos.  A prejudice of white male power.  Even after I forced my docs to test me for HCV and it came back positive the results were dismissed.

My SSD application in 1991 was rejected, as almost all are on first submission.  I picked up a lawyer.  The appeal was rejected and off to court in 1992 we went.  The judge received the medical reports, eleven of twelve state I was dying and they did not know why.  The judge ruled from the bench that I was to receive SSD.  I was also put on the death track.  There are two tracks of SSD; those expected to die within a year (IIRC) and those who were disabled but could survive and possibly go back to work.  My track had the nicety of not having to prove I was still disabled every year.

I like many others on SSD wanted to get off and earn money again.  The amount of money each month on SSD is not great.  The problem is if you fail or end up in a job and Social Security decides you are healthy again and refuses to allow you to go back on SSD.   There are many things involved so it is not this simple.  But in my case I was going to be off SSD whether or not I would survive.

I tell anyone to never take the ticket to work route.  Refuse it.  If anyone says they can help you see if you can work, refuse it.  Never allow the path to work show up in your world.  If you try to work do not take pay until you know that you are strong enough to live outside of SSD.  Once off you will have a hard time getting back on.  And, never do anything during a recession or depression and there are no jobs.

  14. I remember the contempt with which the deadbeat pussypincher treated a working man with a disability.

  15. Let the disabled build the stinking southern border wall — work camps are cheap to build and keep plus zika is ramping-up in the Rio Grande valley of Texas…just in time for insurance companies to drop healthcare for the poor and sick…how else can they make any money?  Get Mexico to pay for our sick humans or stack them up to make a wall.

Good to see you ping, I still think your lord and master, trump is a dick and a crook.  you are putin’s pawn as we all are. Russia played us all including comey with fake memos and news…we are all suckers and now have a commander-in-thief…no mandate, no win, just digital manipulation.

  16. Wow Rep Al Green suggests impeachment and Trump supporters threaten to lynch him

  17.  Craig

    Corrected your typo

given our low voter participation.   given our high voter suppression

  18. Craig, nice article about your father. 🙂

I was listening to these dumb, young guys at work talking to this cute girl at work. Really sad to hear the dumb rude conversations they were trying to have. All I could think of was “It’s pig-slapping time!”

  19. Gang, this isn’t about Trump being a pussygrabber, or a totally unqualified President.  The key factor here is Carville’s “it’s the economy stupid”.    When we have 23 million people kicked off of health care, those in Trump districts; will make the difference.

It will be the impact of this crazy SOB’s proposals and bills that will get him killed – not the nonsense that he’s shown as our President.

It will be the threat of the cancelling of SNAP and CHIP.  The increase in health care bills – especially for those in their 50’s and 60’s.  Sooner or later the “lower masses” will figure out what he is about – and oppose him.  Once that happens – the uber-rich will drop the offense as they’re deathly afraid of the pitchforks and riot mobs.

Hopefully these draconian bills won’t have to pass and take effect – I think the Senate will take care or this.  It’s the Senate who may take this guy out – they house is wayyyy too worried about the next election.  I’m impressed with some of the comments by Senate leaders in the past several days.

    Or I’m wrong ;o)
