Supreme Court has no power in the words of the Constitution to uphold, reject or rule on anything about state or federal laws, executive orders.
Alito saying abortion rights not in Constitution means judicial review invalid, because it’s also not in Constitution.
In Marbury v Madison (1803) the Supreme Court gave itself the right to do judicial review. No “strict constructionist” can honestly justify that.
Biden could say Marbury was wrongly decided and by Executive Order I am protecting abortion rights, which is not reviewable by Supreme Court under a strict interpretation of the Constitution.

I musta been prescient yesterday when I posted that telemedicine and online pharmacies would make states violate the ECPA if they tried to prevent women ordering abortion meds online.
Abortion pills by mail pose challenge for officials in red states
Remote prescribing and overseas generics are among options as women manage their abortions
By Christopher Rowland,

Jacob Bogage
The end of a national right to abortion could trigger a surge of interest in a method of pregnancy termination that has become popular in states that already restrict the procedure: Abortion pills by mail.
Many Republican legislatures have tried banning the pills from being shipped or prescribed. But some women have been able to circumvent the restrictions by getting their pills online from overseas pharmacies that can’t be reached by U.S. laws. The five-day regimen of tablets usually comes in an unassuming envelope, making it hard to police. With the Supreme Court possibly poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, people seeking abortions in the United States will probably flock to these sources, experts say.
“This is just not going to be stoppable,” said Gerald Rosenberg, a law professor emeritus at the University of Chicago law school.

Great minds..? Maybe I should have aimed higher in law school…
pogo, but what about those who don’t have or know how to use the requisite device to order or the wherewithal to pay for such items? what about those who help such folk by informing them about the pill existence/availability or even ordering it or accessing it for them in cases of disability?
aside from the real derby, the oaks, the kenDUCKY derby, the bed races, Thurby and more there is also the KY turtle derby. could it possibly have been inspired by or in honor of sen mcmyrtle?

The Founders wanted to exclude religion from governance but without hurting their feelings.
It’s time to hurt their feelings. The religious zealots just want to keep peeing their waste into the punch bowl.
Yes, it’s time to tell them to go to hell. They would kill people if they could just like they always have every time they get any kind of power.
Zero Tolerance for the evils born of religion.
EO!
patd, there is no doubt that there will be folks who won’t know how to or be able to access the abortion pills sold online. I think you’d find that the percentage of teenage girls who don’t have some sort of access to the internet either by themselves or through a friend or family member is exceedingly small, but I could be wrong about that.
Virus Cases Grow After White House Correspondents Dinner

Poobah, of course they did. Ya pays your money and ya takes your chances. Shows that even the strictest pre-event protocols don’t prevent virus spread at events where masks aren’t practical. Vaccines don’t prevent the spread (although they do lessen the incidence) and tests are not 100% accurate.
So due to a series of inconvenient events I learned that consistent with WV and Joe’s suppression of alternative energy use to preserve the WV carbon based industries, registrations for hybrid and electric vehicles in WV carry an additional fee of $100/year for hybrids and $200/year for electrics to offset lost gasoline tax revenues that go to road repairs. What a state.
I gotta hand it to Steven Colbert when he quipped, I understand why John Roberts is so upset. The Supreme Court’s right to privacy has been violated.
Colbert has been great on the issue:

What is a bumble match?
Craig… that Gaetz statement is said by a man who has to pay underage girls to have sex with him…
According to the Google tubes
And according to Dudehack, Bumble is
And keeping with the Colbert accolades – commenting on that Gaetz tweet (or whatever it is) he said (paraphrasing here) “Of course for Matt Gaetz, an over-educated woman is anyone who finished high school.”
Poobah, after the Derby runs maybe someone will invite you, me, Sturg and patd (for her ‘”show” pick) to their Julep party. Unless the oddsmakers are wildly wrong (and they seldom are) we aren’t going to be hosting any party.
We’ll have a party—we’ll just Charge It.
The gimmick on bumble is that the woman initiates contact, so i don’t know how that bucktoothed creep’s “tweet” makes sense, but i’m not trawling the internet for women like he is

No Bumble matches: That was Gaetz way of calling women fugly/un-eff-able.
He may also have been calling them old, as millennials have aged out of his dating pool.
“Under-loved” Gross, Matt, just gross.
Colbert also came up with this one: “I can’t believe how gullible Susan Collins is. But Susan Collins can.”
How do we boycott the SCOTUS? Well, companies are going to help women get what they need, even if the Republicans want to control the lives of women.

Of course, if a woman is forced to carry to term, that hurts their businesses, so…
Maybe all males should have forced vasectomies until they reach an age of seniority and can be means tested to support any/all offspring.
Maybe the rich, white men who want to overturn Roe (and they are on the record) should be forced to pay child support to any woman not allowed to make a decision to end a pregnancy.
Who is going to pay the medical bills? Who is going to do the work? Who, in the Republican Party, is going to care when some of these women die because they weren’t allowed to make their own choice?

Meanwhile, while Republicans are whipping up the culture wars…
“…Scott’s tax provisions, which would require all Americans to pay some
income tax
so they “have skin in the game.” The Tax Policy Center found that the plan would raise taxes on mostly lower-income households. Households that make below $54,000 would pay for over 80% of such a tax increase. Under a plan with a minimum tax of $100, the lowest-earning Americans would have paid nearly $1,000 more in taxes in 2022, according to the analysis.”
“.. Scott’s proposals for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other social programs. The Florida Republican’s plan would require Congress to reauthorize such programs every five years. Biden said seniors have paid into Social Security for “their whole life. And it has to be reauthorized?”
Republicans are coming for your Medicare and Social Security. Get your parents/grandparents to the polls to vote Dem.
If Roe is overturned and a woman dies because she was denied her right to choose, can her family sue the government?
The US is clearly at war against Russia. Let’s just deal with it.
Troops sent into Ukraine to back up Russian forces say they had no choice but to leave because Russian military was in shambles and “they deceived us at every step.”
Soldiers from the breakaway state of South Ossetia—speaking to South Ossetian leader Anatoly Bibilov at a meeting publicized by the independent news outlet MediaZona—rattled off a list of complaints about faulty equipment, lack of leadership and intel, and brainless tactics.
South Ossetia, which relies heavily on military and financial aid from Russia, sent troops to Ukraine in late March to “defend Russia.” Ukrainian military officials said at the time that some 150 South Ossetian troops were joining forces with Russia, but Tskhinvali never gave any official figures.
Many of the soldiers are said to be part of Russian military units based in South Ossetia; Moscow and Tskhinvali struck a deal in 2017 to partially incorporate their armed forces.
But reports soon surfaced of many of them refusing to take part in the fight, vowing not to become “cannon fodder.”

Now I have to clean my screen , that’s a real daisy.
What war? Who is “Russia”? 🤫
What if this is the russian’s dramatic exit, and he just disappears into the sunset to his private little dacha in the woods. All according to the script. Yeah, maybe he’s pulling an Elvis.
Then all the russians shrug and go “What for you sanction on we peoples? It was all THAT guy.”

The short little Jewish guy is this picture Mick Rosen, once stood about 10 inches in front of my face as I was eating a hot dog. His eyes following the dogs every move. After the second bite , he looks me straight in the eye and says, “Do you know what’s in that” ?
I say “No”.
He says, “Pig Lips”.
To this day every dog I ever ate, the first bite is always with this thought, Bob it’s “Pig Lips”.
Rosen was also fond of reminding us that Baloney had beef assholes in it.
I still love olive loaf though.
Considering that the only way to save a woman’s life in case of an ectopic pregnancy (roughly 100,000 per year) is an abortion, who will the government convict: The dead woman or the doctor who saved her life?
So, I’m still watching the price of food. Wheat that is.
Russia is #1 , the Ukraine is #6 on the export list.
India may dodge their heatwave bullet. And they’ve had 5 good years of surplus.
But there is too little supply thanks to this little war of Mr. Putin.
https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/05/europe/russia-ukraine-grain-theft-cmd-intl/index.html
“Russian forces are stealing farm equipment and thousands of tons of grain from Ukrainian farmers in areas they have occupied, as well as targeting food storage sites with artillery…”
“The actions of the Russian forces may threaten the harvest this year in one of the world’s most important grain-producing countries.”
“Chechen soldiers, fighting for Russia, act like criminals in the 1990s. First they offer to buy grain for a ridiculously low price. But if you don’t agree, they take everything from you for nothing.”
“The scale of looting is simply overwhelming,” he said.
“For Ukrainians, the seizure of grain recalls a dark period in their history, when Stalin forcibly removed food stocks from Ukrainian peasants in the 1930s, leading to the deaths of millions of people. Known as Holodomor (to kill by starvation) it is considered an act of genocide by many Ukrainians.”
Nope. Can’t blame it all on that one guy.
“For the occupiers, grain is an attractive commodity. The price of wheat is about $400 a ton on world markets and has moved sharply higher this year. It’s difficult to trace its origins and can be easily shipped.”
Sanctions? What sanctions?

Turkey eats lots of Black Sea Wheat –
ISTANBUL, May 5 (Reuters) – Turkey’s annual inflation jumped to a two-decade high of 69.97% in April, according to data on Thursday, fuelled by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and rising energy and commodity prices after last year’s lira crash.
The surge in prices has badly strained households just over a year before presidential and parliamentary elections that could bring the curtain down on President Tayyip Erdogan’s long rule.

Glad that got a rise, Bob. I did one of those snort things when I saw it. I’m not so put off by by products. Not many sausages and pressed meats I don’t like, and I don’t have any little lies I have to tell myself about what they are in order for me to enjoy them. As a kid I loved, really loved, fried chicken gizzards – kind of a gateway thing for me, and I could take of leave the livers. But taking it up a notch I’ve had and liked Italian cuisine (as opposed to just food) made from the organs of pigs and beefs. I caught one of the Stanley Tucci programs where he was in the Testaccio neighborhood in Rome, a part of the city where the poorer people who lived and worked in the slaughterhouses couldn’t get the better cuts of the animals to cook, so they and the Jewish folks in Rome developed this offal cuisine that is quite the cut above chitlins (which done right aren’t too bad).
The most chilling thing this week –
In Vance’s victory speech . if Trump comes to power in 2024 –
He fires every mid level worker in the entire Federal Government, and replaces them with “Our People”.

WRONG AND STUPID.

They are after the offices of who runs the elections.
If they win , then we will have stolen elections.

Susan Collins is just the worst.
“Sen. Susan Collins, a rare GOP supporter of abortion rights who is under scrutiny for her key role in confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court amid fears that Roe v. Wade may soon be overturned, signaled to reporters on Thursday that she would oppose a bill that Democrats plan to bring to the Senate floor next week to codify abortion rights.”
“Collins voted against a previous version of the Women’s Health Protection Act in February for similar reasons. The bill she has put forward with Murkowski is narrower, which Democrats such as Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, an author of the Women’s Health Protection Act, have criticized as having “loopholes” for states to continue restricting abortion.”
I think Craig had the answer this morning. EO.
