  1. “I want to thank Bernie Sanders and his campaign for their tireless energy and their passion. We share a common goal. And together, we’ll defeat Donald Trump.”

  2. Fired up the electron consolidator to view a little of MSNBC this morning, something not done in several weeks.  Looks like the Bern is going to do some soul searching this weekend.  The numbers do not lead to his standing up at the podium at the Democratic Party convention as the candidate.

  3. Yep, BB, sure sounds like it. Joe set the right tone there Pat. His surrogates and supporters should stick to that, give Bernie and team some space. (But no less than a week).

  4. Joe is like Sunday dinners at Grandma’s place.  You knew it was chicken, potatoes, jello salad & pie.  It was good.  It was never exciting.  That’s OK.
    Love the Bye-Don!
Is Bernie really gonna give up his 600-plus delegates just like that?   His ego may not let him.

  5. Boy, the Covid-19 emails keep coming.  Insurance offering free (no copay testing); my doc telling me what to do to prevent illness; Lyft sent one about not taking a rideshare to doc or anywhere if sick, and, distributing hand sanitizer to drivers;  credit card company sent one to call them to discuss in case income is impacted.   The only place I don’t see a coherent action plan from is the WH.

  6. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/russia-passes-bill-allowing-putin-to-stay-in-power-past-2024/ar-BB111Qmr?ocid=spartanntp

MOSCOW (AP) — The Russian parliament approved a sweeping constitutional reform in the third and final reading Wednesday, a move that will allow President Vladimir Putin to stay in power for another 12 years after his current term ends in 2024.
The Kremlin-controlled lower house, the State Duma, endorsed a set of amendments to the constitution and a provision resetting the term count for Putin after the revised constitution goes into force by a 383-0 vote with 43 abstentions. A nationwide vote on the proposed amendments is set for April 22.

  7. now’s when you start negotiating things like a prime convention speaking slot, if there is one. I just hope they don’t go ahead with the debate sunday, or if so, Bernie plays real nice.

  8. while they’re at it since this is a national emergency, why not make nationwide tests mandatory –  I think such test just requires submitting a swab sorta like those dna/ancestry genome tests- – get a clear picture of how many and where in order to take next step to protect and ward off preventable deaths.

Colorado congresswoman moves to make coronavirus testing free nationwide

U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette, a Denver Democrat, introduced congressional legislation Tuesday that would require health insurers to cover the full cost of coronavirus tests.
The bill would add coronavirus testing to the Affordable Care Act’s list of preventive health services that insurers are required to cover at no cost to patients. That list currently includes many vaccines and screenings, such as flu shots and mammograms.

  9. Getting out is a difficult decision under any circumstances, and after 2016 and the 1st 4 contests this year it has to be very difficult. I don’t expect a quick decision. And I bet he’s still got money in the bank. Let’s see what Sunday looks like.

  10. if so. korea can test 15,000 folks a day, why can’t and why shouldn’t we test the whole country or at least the major transportation hub areas?

  11. a hint of things to come Bernie-wise?

    wapo:

After another disappointing showing at the polls, Sanders is booked Wednesday night on NBC’s “The Tonight Show.”
It’s not likely to be the celebratory moment with host Jimmy Fallon that his campaign had hoped for — and a leading Sanders surrogate said Wednesday that he’s not certain it will happen.
“I’m not sure about that,” Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) told CNN when asked if Sanders still plans to appear, suggesting the senator’s travel schedule and concerns about the novel coronavirus could come into play.

  12. Craig – considering how well Sanders handled 2016 I would expect him to be just as gracious now.  And, his cult members too, that includes Putin.

  13. If Bernie really wants to beat the dictator, he needs to nicely concede and support Joe.
    Love the bumper sticker.
Covid-19 has hastened a lot my retirement. Have to get the papers in before/if I get really sick and then would be in limbo, and if I should die my sons/beneficiaries would be screwed.  Wadda mess.

  14. Really think Biden and DNC determined to avoid the 2016 animosity between Clinton and Sanders. He and Joe have better personal relations for starters, so that helps.

  15. LOVE the bumper sticker!

I too hope that Bernie plays out his leaving with grace.  I’ve never hated him…   although his claiming that Pete and Amy were pushed out by “the establishment” really pissed me off.
I thought Joe gave a very thoughtful speech last night.

  16. ”if so. korea can test 15,000 folks a day, why can’t and why shouldn’t we test the whole country or at least the major transportation hub areas?” -patd

Uh, because the trump admin. is criminally inept?

  17. Coronavirus Response is on C-SPAN now. Interesting. Same political crap different day. The dictator’s still inept.

  18. this is how a leader who is not IMpotus speaks:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/11/world/coronavirus-news.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype

Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday that the coronavirus was likely to infect about two-thirds of the German population.
“Given a virus for which there is no immunity and no immunization, we have to understand that many people will be infected. The consensus among experts is that 60 to 70 percent of the population will be infected,” she said.
In her first public appearance to address the epidemic, which has already infected more than 1,200 people in Germany, Ms. Merkel said that her government was following the advice of medical experts. She urged citizens to do the same.
“We are at the start of a development that we cannot yet see the end of,” Ms. Merkel told reporters. “But we as a country will do whatever is necessary to do, working within the European bloc.”

  20. BB, Hasn’t that been our policy for years? We’ve insured supply to Western Europe every time Putin has tried petrol-stagnation as Russo-Diplomacy? Same with the Saudis and Israel. And, Cuber/Venezuela and Central America.

  21. It’s not Bernie’s party, so he’ll be neither hero nor villain.  Plus, Pooh-tin will have 12 more years as manager of a gas station ⛽️ so he’ll have more time to play tiddlywinks with our elections.  If anyone deserves cofeve, it’s him and Lik Kim and Xi and SFB and…

  22. I’m fine with Bernie staying in.  I am not fine with his egotistic, angry, insulting and frankly just plain mean behavior.

  23. Biden camp should agree to debate only if Bernie commits to drop out if he is still behind after next four primaries

  24. So, the House will vote on Covid-19 funding tomorrow, but it’s not expected to pass the Republicans in the Senate…because Republicans are heartless, godless creeps.  Well, their god is money.     They think they are immune from this virus?  Somebody very close to each of them will suffer and die from it, but then it will be too late.   What a bunch of asshats!

  25. Gee…. why am I not surprised by Bernie.  If Biden is smart he won’t be suckered into actually debating the fucking coot on Sunday and instead focus on trump.

  26. Bernie says he appeals to younger voters.  Well, where in the heck were they, fella?  They did not show up for you.  Here’s the thing.  The expense of Covid-19 might actually move is toward actual healthcare in this country, instead of insurance policies that cover as little as possible.   Angela Merkel says she expects about 70% of Germans to contract it (although some will be milder cases).  And here I was feeling good about my stockpile of canned pears.

  27. Bernie’s shopping list was interesting. Many things on it are desired by most Democrats if not most Americans. Many items, such things as trade schools and state prisons are beyond presidential authority as they funded by states and their citizens. Shove those items to one side placing them in a separate column. Next, take the federal items. Place them item-by-item in a column. Add remarks for each item such as annual/total cost or gain, measurable benefit, probability of approval. Then total up the financial impact, and make a social impact judgement on the package then repeat the entire process modifying the package until you can proudly present it to the Times’ Editorial Board.

Quite simply, if we can’t clean-out Mitt’s desk we’re screwed.

  28. upcoming debate

Bernie:  “Joe, what are you going to do about… ?”

Biden:  “Bernie, how are you going to pay for….?”

  29.
It has gotten so bad in Italy that they are seriously talking about “putting the old folks out on an ice flow” medical treatment.
    From the Daily Mail

The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in Italy has jumped in the last 24 hours by 196 to 827 as a top Italian doctor said intensive care wards should place an age limit on beds.
Rather than admit patients on a ‘first come first served’ basis, hospitals should swap to ‘catastrophe medicine’ guidelines – typically used in war zones and during natural disasters – where those with the greatest chance of survival are given priority.
The guidelines should apply to all patients needing intensive care treatment and not just those suffering from coronavrius, according to guidance published this week by the Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia, Resuscitation and Intensive Care (SAARI).
If a limit on beds is implemented it could mean elderly patients with no signs of coronavirus being turfed off ICU wards to make space for younger patients who have longer left to live.

  30. Joe needs to change direction and everytime Bernie pushes an idea just point out that if you want any of those ideas to make it into law then vote for Biden. You will get something because progressives always win when moderates get elected president.
Then he needs to change the subject to the current concerns of the nation and show that he lives in the 2nd decade of the 21st century.
    Jack

  31. I was very pleased with what Joe said. I don’t think he should debate Bernie.  Why end on a sour note?  Why give the dictator any more fodder?
I’m still wearing the silk, white gloves when I go out & about.  People look.  But it’s like they wish they’d thought of them. In any case, ya get old and ya don’t care.
