  1. Trump is sending troops to occupy Democrat-run cities whether they want them or not, this campaign to own the libs is the passion project of a sick bald individual named Stephen Miller, we think it’s important to know what’s really going on, so if you live in Portland, Chicago, Memphis, Washington or any city where Trump is sending the National Guard post on YouTube with the hashtag #ShowMeYourHellhole and look out for a message from us, we are in day eight of the government shutdown, Jimmy received a few shoutouts at a Senate hearing today on the subject of Censorship, the shutdown is wreaking havoc on air travel, the House is closed for business, Marjorie Taylor Greene seems to be the lone voice of reason from the Republican party, Mike Johnson doesn’t think Bad Bunny was a good choice for Super Bowl halftime show, Herschel Walker was confirmed as Ambassador to the Bahamas, former FBI Chief James Comey was arraigned today, and we check in with the QAnon Shaman who is suing Donald Trump for 40 trillion dollars.

Aerial footage captures the streets of Chicago on the night of October 8, 2025, as hundreds of protesters march against the deployment of National Guard troops ordered by President Donald Trump.

Protesters carried banners reading “No Trump, No Troops” while marching along Michigan Avenue, Wacker Drive, and near Grant Park, voicing their opposition to what they see as an unnecessary militarization of their city.

Some 500 National Guard troops—200 from Texas and 300 from Illinois—were deployed to protect federal personnel, including ICE agents, and federal property. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker opposed the deployment, calling it an unwarranted provocation.

Trump has criticized city leaders and called for their jailing, despite no criminal charges being filed against them. While the administration frames such protests as violent and lawless, the demonstrations have remained largely peaceful, highlighting a growing divide over federal enforcement tactics in Democratic-leaning cities.

This aerial coverage provides a visual account of a city confronting the clash between federal authority and local resistance.

  4. https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/broadview-police-enforce-new-protest-curfew-ice-facility/

Some protesters gather in Broadview on Wednesday evening amid talks that the feds will move the National Guard members there overnight, well before a judge decides if they can hit the streets
That’s just one of the many legal battles playing out.
A small group of protestors gathered outside the ICE processing facility, with their chants energized following a federal judge’s extension of a nationwide consent decree. The 52-page ruling outlines who ICE agents can and can not arrest.
Since “Operation Midway Blitz,” concerns have been raised about the random way federal agents have come into the Chicagoland area, detaining people. Hundreds of people have since been taken into custody without warrants or probable cause.
“We now have potentially 200 on our list of potential violations. The vast majority being in the last several weeks,” Attorney Mark Fleming said.
The National Immigration Justice Center is one of many that filed suit. The agency said it’s also going to court about the violations they said took place when federal agents raided a South Shore apartment building, detaining both immigrants and Chicago residents in the middle of the night.
Back in Broadview, police are enforcing protest times after an executive order was signed by the village’s mayor this week. Police were seen giving a warning shortly after 6 p.m. to disperse, or people would face citations or be arrested.
While many rally against the deportations, the biggest fight will play out in the federal courthouse.
“It’s a glimpse of hope that the courts will still, at times, bear witness and will attempt to limit the harms being conducted by DHS in our communities,” Said Xanat Sobrevilla, Organized Communities Against Deportations.
On Thursday morning, the city of Chicago and Illinois’ attorney general will head to court. It’s their attempt to stop the more than 200 National Guard members brought in from Texas from hitting the streets. The guards are currently stationed about 55 miles southwest of Chicago in Elwood. City, county, and state leaders are hoping the legal move will deter any movement.
“The judge didn’t explicitly state they couldn’t come into the city, but I think if you read between the lines as to what she was saying, that it probably would be a good idea if everybody waited til she made the decision on Thursday to decide what they’re going to do,” legal analyst Irv Miller said.
Thursday determines if the guards move in and what happens in court, including whether the fence placed outside this facility will stay or go. As of late Wednesday, a military spokesperson told the Associated Press that National Guard members have already been deployed to protect federal property, but it is unclear exactly where.

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/oct/08/argentina-puerto-rico-friendly-chicago-florida-move

Argentina soccer game moved from Chicago due to Trump’s immigration crackdown

A soccer match between Argentina and Puerto Rico, originally scheduled for next week in Chicago, has been relocated to Florida amid the immigration crackdown in the city, a person familiar with the decision told the Associated Press on Wednesday.
The friendly match was supposed to be played on 13 October at Soldier Field in Chicago but will be moved to Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, the home stadium of Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi.
An Argentinian Football Association executive confirmed the move to the AP and said it was because of the situation in Chicago, where Donald Trump has deployed the National Guard to quell protests against the immigration crackdown.
More than 1,000 immigrants have been arrested since the crackdown started last month in the Chicago area. The Trump administration vowed to deploy National Guard troops in its agenda to boost deportations.

  6. Incitement Insight indeed.

Fact checking yesterday’s White House gathering of the Antifa Fantasy League: Not one statistic was cited, or specific events detailed to justify their repeated claims that Antifa is a terrorist organization.

Right wing influencers who claimed they were attacked by Antifa have been outed for provoking protesters so they could make videos of their responses.

The Nation: “Trump Is Lying About Antifa to Justify His Authoritarian Crackdown. Too easily dismissed as hyperbole, the Antifa myth is being used as a weapon to destroy domestic opposition”.

New York Times: “Antifa is a label for a political subculture or protest style. The phenomenon does not have a leader, an initiation process, membership rolls, a headquarters, a bank account or a centralized structure”.

Reuters: “According to U.S. law enforcement, there has never been a terrorist incident in the United States connected to antifa”.

  8. Craig, the thread title could also be read “Incitement In Sight” given the ICE provocations we keep seeing whether recorded by them (for use later in 2026 political ads?) or by bystanders.

  9. Yes, Pat, the incitement angle is so real. I just know Stephen Miller had to be disappointed our DC protests were so peaceful. They brought in the National Guard to shoot us, but we didn’t provide a target.

  10. Not sayin’ it’s this, but this can go on for longer than you think

    Symptoms of Congestive Heart Failure
Congestive heart failure (CHF) occurs when the heart cannot pump blood effectively. This can lead to various symptoms, including:
Shortness of breath: This is the most common symptom and may worsen with exertion or lying down.
Fatigue: Feeling tired or weak, even with little activity.
Swelling: Fluid buildup in the feet, ankles, legs, or abdomen.
Chest pain: May feel like pressure, tightness, or discomfort.
Cough: Can be persistent and produce white or pink-tinged mucus. Confusion or disorientation: Due to reduced blood flow to the brain.
Nausea and loss of appetite: Fluid buildup in the stomach can interfere with digestion. Increased urination at night: Due to fluid retention.
Rapid or irregular heartbeat: The heart may compensate for the weakened pumping ability.
Wheezing: Fluid buildup in the lungs can cause wheezing sounds. Blueish tint to the skin (cyanosis): This occurs when the body does not receive enough oxygenated blood.

  12. A Perspective on Protests in France vs. the United States

Analysis of French dynamics tends to be done more through the political views of the demonstrators, their affinity to a political party or influence, or their work and class, but NOT their racial or religious identity. Racial and religious identification goes against the core values of the system.

The heart of American public life often focuses on being true to one’s personal identity. Therefore it is only natural within that system to define yourself by your ethnic, religious, and social group. That concept doesn’t exist in France where the republican concept of equality has given birth to an affirmation of secularism and color blindness in public life. This limits any references to an ethnic or religious community.

There is an irony here. Protest activities in the United States and France spring from different causes and put into play very different actors. Both American and French protests, however, largely and proudly share a common belief that protests are legitimized by Fundamental Rights. Historically, both countries have long competed for the self-proclaimed title of “Land of Rights and Freedom.”

  18. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/oct/09/anti-fascism-mark-bray-rutgers-university

A Rutgers University professor who taught a course on anti-fascism was blocked from leaving the US for Spain on Wednesday night, according to media reports, hours after Donald Trump hosted a White House roundtable highlighting the impact of antifa – or “anti-fascist” – far-left activists.

Mark Bray, an historian who published the 2017 book Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, and has taught courses on anti-fascism at the New Jersey university, was attempting to board a plane at Newark airport bound for Europe when he was informed at the boarding gate that the reservations for him and his family had been cancelled.

The professor, nicknamed “Dr Antifa” by a group of students, had said he was moving to Europe after receiving death threats. Turning Point USA activists have claimed he is a “financier” for the leftwing movement.

A petition calling for his removal from the university had been launched in the weeks following the assassination of the Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and Bray’s home address was revealed on social media.

One threat included a vow to kill him in front of his students, according to the Washington Post. The threats led to Bray’s decision to relocate to Spain with his wife and two children and to continue to teach his students remotely.

“Since my family and I do not feel safe in our home at the moment, we are moving for the year to Europe,” Bray said in an email to students on Sunday. “Truly I am so bummed about not being able to spend time with you all in the classroom.”

“Someone cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second,” Bray posted on Bluesky social media. “We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’”

  19. Pat, thank you for the mention of Doug Marlette with the Andy cartoon. I was a fan and reader of Doug’s with a Seminole County connection and I had enjoyed his first novel (The Bridge), a Southern-gothic type thing, after hearing him give a lengthy interview about it on NPR. That was the first time I recall anyone speaking the famous Faulkner-quote about the South – “the past is never dead, it isn’t even past.”

I remember how shocked and saddened I was at Doug’s untimely death.

  24. Pennsylvania Joins Multi-State Lawsuit Over Trump Deploying National Guard in Cities

Pennsylvania has joined several states taking legal action against President Donald Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops in U.S. cities, Gov. Josh Shapiro announced on Wednesday night.

“Deploying the National Guard to patrol American cities over the wishes of their governors is incredibly dangerous and an unprecedented infringement on states’ rights,” Shapiro wrote on social media. “Pennsylvania just took legal action to support our fellow states and put an end to the dangerous overreach of power we are seeing with Donald Trump’s Guard deployments.”

Shapiro joins a coalition of 24 attorney generals and governors in an amicus brief supporting Oregon’s court challenge to Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops in their state.

“President Trump’s deployment of Oregon’s National Guard, and attempted deployment of out-of-state Guard forces in Oregon, without the consent of Oregon’s Governor and in violation of the statute on which the President relies, is unlawful, unconstitutional, and undemocratic,” the officials wrote in the amicus brief. “It is inconsistent with one of our Nation’s founding principles that freedom depends on the subordination of the military to civilian authority.”

“It violates core constitutional principles of federalism, and it infringes on the sovereignty and police powers reserved to the States,” they add. “By calling forth troops when there is no invasion to repel, no rebellion to suppress, and when state and local law enforcement are fully able to execute the law, the President flouts the vision of our Founders, undermines the rule of law, and sets a chilling precedent that puts the constitutional rights of all Americans at risk.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) plans to use eye-scanning biometric systems, according to new documents.

Newly released procurement documents showed that ICE was in the process of acquiring mobile iris-scanning devices from BI2 Technologies, a tech firm in Massachusetts.
Its flagship products—the Mobile Offender Recognition and Information System (MORIS) and the Inmate Identification and Recognition System (IRIS)—are intended to help ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations unit verify the identities of individuals in custody and those encountered during enforcement actions.

Once a subject’s iris data is scanned, the technology cross-references more than 265 unique iris characteristics against central registries, such as the Sex Offender Registry, Child Project and Senior Safety Net, 404 Media reported.

According to BI2, its systems can be used by law enforcement agencies across the U.S.

It’s no secret that Trump has pined for the international honor: The U.S. president phoned Norway’s Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg “out of the blue” back in July to inquire about the possibility of acquiring the prize, using tariffs as a cover for their discussion.

According to unofficial election night results made available by the city of Fairbanks, O’Neall received 1,808 votes (54 percent) and Pruhs received 1,528 votes (45.7 percent).

The ballot in mayoral elections in Fairbanks does not list party affiliations next to candidates’ names, but Republicans have held the role in Fairbanks for nearly a decade.

Pruhs, a conservative backed by local Republicans, was elected mayor in 2022. O’Neall, the presiding officer of the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly, was endorsed by the Alaska Democratic Party.
Democrats flipping the seat comes as the party hopes to compete in statewide contests for the Senate and House in 2026. The state has only elected one Democratic senator since 1981 and only one Democratic House member since 1973. President Donald Trump easily won the state by double digits in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) drew a sharp rebuke from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) Thursday after she demanded a “reckoning” on the surveillance of her Senate GOP colleagues, something, Massie suggested, she herself helped facilitate with her past votes.

“We need to know why AT&T and Verizon did not challenge the subpoena for the phone records of 8 United States Senators when the Biden FBI spied on us during an anti-Trump probe,” Blackburn wrote Wednesday in a social media post on X. “There needs to be a reckoning for this.”

“It’s called the Patriot Act, [the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act], and [the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency],” Massie wrote on social media, responding to Blackburn’s comments. “Please vote no next time.”
