So Dumdass asked Lyin’ Ted to argue Texas’ case in the Supreme Court, and of course he said “Sure! I’m in.” Pete Williams BTW is reporting that legal scholars on both sides are criticizing the TX lawsuit because 1. Texas doesn’t have standing, 2. Texas can’t show how it was harmed and 3. the relief sought, to delay the EC vote for those 4 states sued, is unconstitutional. Hmmm, I think we discussed that here yesterday, or was it Tuesday? I forget.
So an AP/NORC poll reports that only 47% of US citizens plan to get the virus when it’s available. In other words 53% of the public is stupid. I’ll be in the 47% and as close to the front of the line as they’ll let me. I get the flu shot yearly (hoping the flu vaccine comes to fruition), got the pneumonia shot and just finished up the shingles vaccine regimen. The only side effects have been one mildly sore upper arm for 4 days following the 2nd shingles shot and briefly exposing my less than fit torso to a couple of Sam’s Club employees who walked past while I was getting the shot. I’ll survive that minor embarrassment and better yet shouldn’t have to suffer through another shingles flare up ever again.
WH hosted a cocktail party and folks showed up. Idiots!
Tedious Cruz has no moral compass. He hates tRUMPsky, but thinks it will help him in 2024, if he sticks with the Biggest Loser. He’s just another Lindsey Graham.
The pneumonia shot really got me. My arm swelled up (hugely) and I had a fever and felt unwell. Missed a day of work. Flu shots are a breeze.
Still, I will happily and gratefully get the COVID vaccine if it ever becomes available to me.
I’ve been told I don’t qualify for the shingles vaccine yet. They seem to be in short supply here, so there’s a an age barrier.
due to lack of required cold storage capabilities, we folks in the boonies outback will probably not get vaccines until the johnon&johnson or AstraZeneca ones. altho’ the moderna vax might make it to the nearest walgreens come end of month.

Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., emailed his Republican colleagues in the House and Senate Wednesday morning, rounding up support for an amicus brief for the Texas attorney general’s attempt to get the Supreme Court to intervene in the presidential election, according to an email obtained by ABC News.
The source who provided the email said he believed it was sent to all congressional Republicans, though that couldn’t be confirmed by the text of the email.
Johnson wrote that he spoke to Trump on Tuesday night and that the president asked him to reach out to other members.
“He specifically asked me to contact all Republican Members of the House and Senate today and request that all join on to our brief,” Johnson wrote in large, underlined red letters.
“He said he will be anxiously awaiting the final list to review,” he added.
“The simple objective of our brief is to affirm for the Court (and our constituents back home) our serious concerns with the integrity of our election system,” Johnson wrote in the email. “We are not seeking to independently litigate the particular allegations of fraud in our brief (that is not our place as amici).”
“We will merely state our belief that the broad scope of the various allegations and irregularities in the subject states merits careful, timely review by the Supreme Court,” he added.
jamie, that’s a great cartoon. hope an enlargement is sent to all the cowardly GOPers in critterville today.
Johnson is just one more useless idiot. As if the SCOTUS robe wearers don’t know that the Repukes in congress are concerned about the OUTCOMEof the presidential election. Dumbasses fucking gained seats in the House in the same election – what do they want SCOTUS to do, throw out only the first section of the ballots? Please deliver me from these morons. Oh, and based on what I’ve seen in the past 4 years, Lyin’ Ted is just the guy for the job of arguing a meritless suit – one brought without an evidentiary basis or showing of harm to the plaintiff – to a SCOTUS who’s already denied similar relief in a single sentence, with no justice listed as being of the opinion the Court should have taken the case in the only case that made it to them so far.
Patd, thanks for picking up the slack on posting last couple of days. sometimes i just run out of steam
patd…. that was great!
Tony…. yup…. religion sucks! So glad that Rick has seen the light. His priest told the congregation on the Sunday before the election that the only thing they should vote for was the right to life and religious freedom. He came home disgusted… said the priest may as well as have said vote for trump. He hasn’t been back since and has told me he’s not going back.

Ben Sasse slams Texas lawsuit — and says Ken Paxton looks like a ‘fella begging for a pardon’ https://t.co/NguERBvMCd
Sasse is playing the other side of the Republican base. The LP side. He’s eyeing 2024. Considering Biden had some support in Nebraska, he’s playing his Senatorial cards right, too.
However, any enemy of the enemy-of-the-people (tRUMPsky) is my friend for now.

pogo, your opinion in re TX suit has some company according to the Hill:
“I may need to take back what I said about Rep. Kelly’s PA suit being the dumbest case I’ve ever seen filed on an emergency basis at the Supreme Court,” Rick Hasen, a law professor at the University of California, Irvine, wrote on the Election Law Blog. “This new one from the indicted Texas AG Ken Paxton … probably should win that prize.”
Similarly, legal experts expect that even if the Supreme Court were to agree to take up a forthcoming appeal petition from the Pennsylvania Republicans who were rebuffed Tuesday, the justices almost certainly will not intervene before the electors vote to finalize Biden’s victory next week.
According to some legal scholars, it became clear in the days after the Nov. 3 vote that the Trump campaign lacked the kind of claims and evidence needed for a court to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential race.
“Since then, all that has happened is that the claims have gotten more outlandish, the better lawyers have fled the campaign, and judges of all stripes — federal and state, whether appointed by Democrats or Republicans, including Trump appointees — have administered the formal death rites to this attempt,” Rick Pildes, a law professor at New York University, previously told The Hill.
[…]
And if experts’ predictions are borne out, the Supreme Court — also known as the United States’s court of “last resort” — will represent a kind of terminus that no amount of rhetorical goal post-moving can budge.
In SCOTUS brief just filed Pennsylvania AG blasts Texas election suit as “seditious abuse” of judicial process https://t.co/6pqckg9fxt

Rick is a smart guy! The gall of that priest telling them what to vote for and really who to vote for. I’m not shocked. These people hide behind religion to do the most ungodly things.
Mrs. P., born and bred a Catholic, dragged me to church with her for years. One of our older, closer friends – a psychologist – told me once that he was surprised to see I was so devout. I asked what the hell he was talking about – I never prayed because I didn’t believe in that God stuff – and he said he’d look over and see me praying at almost anytime except during the homily. I told him that if he were sitting beside me he, too could have been reading the Post and Times on my phone. He, being apparently a more devoted husband than I, joined the Catholic church – his wife, like mine, born and bred a Catholic. Anyway, we attended during the 2008 election, and the priest, Father Harry, a hell of a good guy, did make comments about voting, but he is one of those social issues and “feed and clothe the poor” guys and was not hell bent on having people vote for the candidate who would advance the issues the Church writ large held as the primary political issues. He did discuss sanctity of life and all that jazz but he urged the congregation to vote their conscience following prayer and self-examination. He would have voted for Obama if he voted if I am right about him. One word about who to vote for or how to vote based on this issue or that and that would have been the last time he saw me in the church.
Looks like Ima have to read some SCOTUS briefs for funsies this weekend – after I install new lights in the kitchen. Sounds like the PA response will be a must read. Can’t wait to see what Paxton thinks is a sound basis for the suit and why Dumbass believes he has standing to intervene.
Just skimmed Dumbass’ Motion to Intervene. Strikes me as hard to make the argument stick that there was fraud because the absence of proof proves it occurred without sticking your head up your ass and turning yourself inside out.

Hinch, who was 71 and from Merrimack, was poised to lead his party in the state’s House of Representatives. New Hampshire Republicans gained control of both the House and the state Senate from Democrats in elections last month.
Hinch was formally elected House speaker on Dec. 2 at an outdoor session held on an athletic field at the University of New Hampshire because of coronavirus concerns. Earlier that same week, several Republican House members were confirmed to have tested positive for the coronavirus after attending an indoor GOP caucus meeting.

kudos to GOPer Lt. Gov Duncan of GA for these comments on PBS Newshour tonight:
Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan:
Yes, certainly, we have worked hard to put a legal, fair election on.
And, as I mentioned several times, we have had several recounts to verify that. But I think there’s going to be hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people, that wake up in the coming days and weeks that realize they have been duped. They have been duped by mountains of misinformation.
A small group of folks have been willing to put out misinformation based on fractions or slivers of the facts or truth and spun it out there to large crowds and said, hey, look, we don’t like the outcome of this election, so we’re going to stir the pot.
And it’s just not — Judy, to be honest with you, it’s not American. It’s not democracy. This is not our finest moment, and my hope is that we quickly move past this.
Judy Woodruff:
You used the word duped, and you said information that is not factual. President Trump is leading the charge behind this, isn’t he?
Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan:
Well, I certainly have not been a fan of the misinformation that has flowed out of everywhere, including the president’s Twitter account.
[…]
I’m concerned about the level of misinformation. I have been very vocal about this for weeks.
But this is a separate fact from fiction as we move ahead. And, certainly, these are some — these are some tough times.
I’m encouraged. I talked about hundreds of thousands of folks that are going to wake up and realize that they have been duped. I think that’s already starting to happen.
Some of the folks I have sent away to go research their facts or verify the five-second sound bite or the Facebook post that they saw are starting to come back saying, you know what, I did exactly what you said. I researched it, and it is false. It isn’t real. Thanks for telling me to do that.
I think that’s happening all across America. My hope is that it happens even quicker than it is right now. [continues]
