  1.  Happy New Year Craig & David … May everyone have joy and a Perfect Year

Ring out the old Bring in the new
A midnight wish to share with you
Your lips are warm, my head is light
Were we in love before tonight?

    I don’t need a crowded ballroom
    Everything I need is here,
if you’re with me Next year will be the perfect year

No need to hear the music play
our eyes say all there is to say
    The stars can fade
    And they can shine
Long as your face is next to mine

    I don’t need a crowded ballroom E
    verything I need is here,
if you’re with me Next year will be the perfect year

We don’t need a crowded ballroom
    Everything I need is here,
    if you’re with me
    Next year…

  2. suggest this as the dems’ solution to the shutdown:
pass bill which authorizes (using all the bureaucratic jargon with additional bells and whistles) approval for a $5 billion border wall to be built only with funds officially provided by Mexico for that purpose.

  3. Jamie,   YES on Amy Klobuchar at top of ticket, but not so sure about Kamala (very qualified but her style might be too reminiscent of Hillary for some voters).  Tammy Duckworth or Tulsi Gabbard or someone on the order of texas’ Linda Chavez-Thompson (younger version) would be interesting.
2020, being the 100th anniversary for women voting rights, rightfully should see women on both party ballots.

  4. Down here in Columbia it is 67-deg and gloomy. Kind of a carryover from a December in which we had 9.5-inches of rain making a total of 5.1-feet for the year. And that’s just on our back porch. The birds in Kumcho’s forest are an important part of my life. I’ve already discussed the foolish robins, they’re still here; but, the other day I saw a male Eastern Bluebird searching for an upscale living space.
The sun seems to be penetrating the gloom so, with that, I’ll wish you all a Happy New Year and a thank you for your continuing presence that helps bring happiness to this Ohlfahrt’s existence. Peace

  5. Happy New Year TrailMixers!
It’s 50 degrees here in NH.  We went to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast.  These temps feel so good I had to celebrate with an iced coffee.  Ya know…  the robins don’t always fly south nowadays.  I’ve seen them in northern NH in February.  We still have Canadian geese on many ponds around here.  The birds are all screwed up and it started about 10 yrs ago.

  6. Happy 2019! It’s 37 degrees and raining here. We got rain on Christmas Eve and rain on NY Eve and Day. In Arizona. I’m wondering if we’ll see a little dusting on the Superstitions when it clears.
Anyway, it’s a great gloomy day for soccer and outdoor hockey.
    Cheers!

  7. It’s cold here   for Californians   — and I think I am catching a cold  anyone got some good remedies to nip it in the bud     I’m currently trying feed a cold.

  8. KC, I’m a Linus Pauling follower. Blast it w/ vitamin C (probably doesn’t do much, but combine that treatment with the traditional bourbon, honey and lemon juice and you can at least said you tried).

  9. Come to think of it, I’d rather not run any Dem from the Senate unless that seat is the bluest bright blue.

    Mazie Hirono ?

  10. KGC
Pogo has provided the best universal cure.  You’ll feel warm enough to sleep and that is probably the best way to not care if you have a cold.

  11. Wandering around the net looking up lots of stuff and got a rude reminder that the original Sweet Baby James is now 52.   Arghhhh!

  12. I think it’s more important for Dems to help rippers select their 2020 candidate. We’ll want to see repubs run some anti-trumputian, while trump or babytrump try on a 3d party, as Roosevelt did in 1912 with his Bull Moose Party. Maybe, we could call it the Bull Shit Party.

  13. I have to say last night was the best New Year’s Eve celebration I have had in decades, there was no celebration of any noisy kind.  In the slip down in the middle of no where it was quiet.  No fire arms being used, no fire works being used and no car horns being used.  It was quiet.  It was quiet until midnight when the front hit us and the boat started rocking and rolling.  But, no need for anything to make it through the night.

There is something seriously wrong with SFB.  His personal tweets are on the edge of lunatic and not the side of sanity.  The guy is beyond losing it, he lost it and the bus has left him lost in space.  Although there will be all sorts of handwringing and elephant (republican) tears and wrending of garments by the far freaking right, the Dems need to start impeachment because the guy is a danger to our country.

  14. KGC, I hope you are feeling a little better by now. Instead of a strong bourbon, I prefer a gentler brandy or cognac. You can nurse its snifter in your hand, slowly sipping from it as it warms to your touch. When it has done its job, lay the snifter in a safe place, bundle-up, and retire. Should you awaken during the night, have some fresh water then back to bed. Feel better soon!

  15. It’s starting to feel like the flu   although I did get a flu shot
I am following all the trail advice however — and listening to the Ohio State Game
    Yay Buckeyes

  16. Well, if does turn in to the flu, call your FD. They’ll make sure that both you and Mr Crackers are well taken care of. Darn OSU is making me nervous.

  17. Congrats to Ohio State!  Flatus… we missed the first quarter… but Rick and I did watch the last 3.  It was a great game.  Hope you and Sue enjoyed it.

    KGC… feel better soon.

  18. Kentucky and Ohio State both had me a bit worried for a while. But in the end glad both won. And LSU showed that UCF might deem itself national champions but they lost to a 3 loss SEC team to end their streak. Now to see what Texas and Georgia brings.
