    According to a recent review paper published in the journal Reproductive Biology, moderate to severe Covid infections have caused decreased sperm count, testicular inflammation, sperm duct inflammation and testicular pain in men of reproductive age. Although not considered common complications of Covid in particular, these effects are often associated with reduced fertility, and are enough to lead scientists to hypothesize that Covid may cause fertility issues in men, warranting further research in this area. 

     

    although for the optimists and silver-lining crowd that portends fewer anti-vax nitwits to contend with in the future.

    Republicans have lied for a few weeks now about how the Department of Justice, under the leadership of noted radical Attorney General Merrick Garland, is going to lock up parents who speak heresies at local school board meetings.

    Senator Rick Scott from Florida tweeted on October 5:

    Joe Biden’s attorney general wants the FBI to go after parents for speaking out at school board meetings to protect kids from radical curriculum like critical race theory.

    What actually happened is that the National School Boards Association asked President Joe Biden’s administration for help because unhinged parents, high on Newsmax, were threatening their members. This has to do with escalating battles over both “critical race theory” (not critical race theory but rather teaching that racism in America exists) and COVID-19 prevention measures in schools, such as mask mandates. Republicans have selective amnesia about the parents who get into fist fights with teachers because of the school’s mask policy or the people who surround a school board member’s car, like the T. rex in Jurassic Park.

    The NSBA provided the DOJ with more than “20 instances of threats, harassment, disruption, and acts of intimidation that have transpired during school board meetings and that are targeted at school officials.” The DOJ was asked to “investigate, intercept, and prevent the current threats and acts of violence against public school officials” through existing laws against, you know, killing people or threatening to do so. However, Republicans leapt on this opportunity to claim Biden is siccing the thought police on innocent parents who are politely asking that teachers don’t make their kids watch Roots until they cry.

    thanks for covering for me Sunday,  I was stuck on the wrong side of the digital divide. Planning my move to the new house I was building a storage shed to store all the “good stuff” My sister whos internet I use when I’m down that way had moved into her new house but her cable hadn’t moved with her yet. So I was stuck at my new house for 3 days with no internet and no TV, I had to go buy a book. Jeez talk about inflation have you bought a book lately?
    As I pack and sort it has been interesting at what grabs me for attention. Just now I picked up a box of scrap tile bits and pieces of the many projects Sherry and I worked together on in this house and the rentals. It is trash and I should throw it away, but…..
    I’ve cashed in over $1000 in loose change, a bucket here, a bucket there.

Reminds me of a desi arnaz story……when he and his dad arrived in Florida they were almost broke and his dad could lay tile so he spent near the last of his money on a load of tile, sight unseen stored in a garage.  When they got there to check out what they’d bought it was all smashed to pieces, every bit…..and after being dismayed for a bit, Desi’s dad started specializing in mosaic fireplace surrounds and they did that all around Miami

    New York state court Justice Doris M. Gonzalez in the Bronx ordered Trump to submit to a video deposition at 10 a.m. on Oct. 18.

Trump announced his presidential bid three months earlier with a speech decrying the influx of Mexican “rapists” and drug smugglers into the U.S.

    Gonzalez ordered Trump in 2019 to sit for a deposition in the case, but the then-president argued he could not be compelled to testify. An appeals court in April threw out the challenge as moot because Trump was no longer president, and Gonzalez in July rejected his bid to quash the subpoenas seeking his testimony.

    The case is Galicia v. Trump, 24973/2015E, Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Bronx.

  22. craig, just what “opposing” views on the holocaust are they wanting to promote?  jews, gypsies, the disabled and anti-adolph folk all deserved to be imprisoned and gassed? it didn’t really happen and it’s all faked photos and records?  

    next they’ll deny slavery and lynching ever took place and that the KKK were just a bunch of boys being boys having toga parties and bon fires.

  24. patd, my thoughts sort of. I always thought the opposing view to the Holocaust was some Nazi meme – SS threatened by starving Jewish slaves and they were acting in self defense or some such nonsense.
