“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

  1. cause of civil war: “… how government was run. the freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do”

well, she was in new hampshire and probably thought channeling the “live free or die” state motto would work for her.  you could almost hear the gears clicking just before she said it.

  2. The “war” part started because the Southrens bombarded Federal Property.
    Thanks SC, ya buncha goobers.

  3. If she wanted to stick to a right wing line a simple rewatch of 1776 would give her talking points of the long standing issues of manufacturing vs agricultural political problems.

  4. That Haley Town Hall exchange, especially the questioner, is a big argument for small state early primaries where candidates have to show up in tiny venues and take all questions.

  5. Craig…  yup.  My state still shows us what the candidates are really made of…
Biden didn’t even bother to have himself put on the ballot for NH’s primary.  There’s been a big movement for NH Dems to vote anyways and write in Joe’s name.  I will do it… unless there’s a raging snowstorm on January 23rd.  Unlikely though…   the long range forecast says we will be having warmer than normal temps with very little snow all throughout the first month of the new year.

  6. Christie has spent $770k to run this ad in NH. Love it, if Trump is destined to win nomination hope Christie sticks around to drive him nuts. “He started a riot on Capitol hill, he’ll burn America to to the ground help himself”

  7. So, when it comes to the basics of American history Haley isn’t some dumb, she is plumb dumb. She didn’t even know there was a civil war let alone what the causes were.
Of course she is an accounting major.

  8. Haley removed the confederate flag from the SC State House grounds.   Haley thinks racists are going to vote for her.   Puts her squarely into Pence territory.

  9. Margaret Mitchell really wrote a great truth patch when she wrote Rhett Butler’s speech at the opening of GWTW.    She really nailed it.

  10. if the GOP is going to be stewarded responsibly, it will have to be by someone sane who can speak to the deplorables, which is a needle that Haley clumsily attempted to thread

The bloggerati can undermine the legitimacy of all of dipshit’s opponents and then we’ll have Biden v. Dipshit, which is what i thought no one wanted

  11. CO GOP Chairman on Boebert: From a party perspective, we certainly don’t think it was the best move… I think she has a serious challenge trying to explain to the voters of CD4 why she felt it was necessary to leave and have a better chance at keeping her seat in congress.

  12. “For the singles released before the album, Lennon treated Plastic Ono Band as a name for whatever group he wanted to assemble. “Give Peace a Chance” gathered the bystanders at a 1969 Bed-In, a weeklong antiwar happening-protest in Montreal, including the poet Allen Ginsberg and the singing comedian Tommy Smothers; when the basic live recording sounded too thin, a choir was added in the studio.”

  13. The only one who can effectively speak to the Deplorables is Plumpty Hisself. He’s the only one who can channel their grievances in the way they believe is authentic. A family member went to their grave from Covid and one of their last posts was “Proud Deplorable.” God’s Honest Truth.

  14. Do I understand correctly that Maine joined CO and removed Dumbass from the ballot under the insurrection clause of the 14th?  Remember The Maine.

  15. Interpersonally I’ve have seen no evidence of the Deplorables’ fervor waning among those of them who are still alive.

  16. Do I understand correctly that Maine joined CO and removed Dumbass from the ballot under the insurrection clause of the 14th?  Remember The Maine.

Hope so, Pogo, but I’ve generally viewed Maine as Alabama with a snow plow.

  17.  Maine as Alabama with a snow plow

Conan O’Brien once called Maine “the deep south of the far north”

    …can’t be worse than Pennsyltucky
