FOX Isn’t News, Owner Says

“Loyal opposition” is an acceptable stand for a political organization, not a news organization. Fine. This means FOX “News” should not be included in the White House Press Corps, just as the Democratic National Committee, the Republican National Committee, the Proud Boys or Black Lives Matter are not credentialed.

  1. oliver on their boy reporter – or would that be boy oppose-er?

Tucker Carlson is admired by white nationalists, elected officials, and maybe some of your relatives or coworkers. Given that he has the ear of so many Americans, John Oliver explains where Tucker came from, what his rhetorical tactics are, and what he represents.

  2. considering how Faux portrays the jan 6th insurrectionists who attempted to overthrow the gov’t as just concerned citizens, you’re not the “loyal” opposition, Lachlan. you’re the DISloyal opposition.

  3. Good thing Faux’s owner finally admits what we’ve known for years. Right, remove their WH Press credentials.

  4. A lot of My Pillow and gold coin ads on FOX. But the thing about cable news revenue is they make most of their money from what carriers pay them, ads are secondary. The best way to hurt them would be to demand FOX taken off basic packages. Somebody should start a campaign for that, could be a nice task for Lincoln Project.

  5. here’s one of faux’s so-called patriots

    from politico:

… the judge said the evidence of Reffitt’s actions in connection with the Jan. 6 riot and his statements before and after the event were so disturbing that he had to be detained pending trial.

Faruqui’s decision capped a bizarre hearing in an equally extraordinary case. Reffitt was reported to the FBI by his son, Jackson, the week before the Jan. 6 insurrection, and an unidentified family member also secretly recorded multiple conversations upon his return from Washington.

In addition, Reffitt told his son and daughter that if they turned him in to the FBI they would be traitors, and “traitors get shot.”

Jackson Reffitt told the FBI he feared that his father might harm him, and he has since relocated to an “undisclosed location,” according to prosecutors.

In addition, prosecutors revealed encrypted communications that show Reffitt discussing his ability to obtain police-grade firearms and use them to “take back our country” in future actions aimed at media outlets and social media companies.

  6. business insider:

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas claimed that the US military is launching “political attacks to intimidate” Fox News host Tucker Carlson, and has demanded a meeting with top military officials to discuss the issue.

In a letter posted on Twitter and addressed to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Cruz accused the Pentagon of launching “systematic, public attacks against television host Tucker Carlson” in the last week “that in substance, tone, and political resonance are inexplicably inappropriate.”

Cruz in the letter accused the military of undermining its neutrality in domestic political debates “for the sake of left-wing ideology and political expediency.”

i did, from this site, a few years, ago.  Sturge and one of my friends said they canceled, so that’s at least $3 a month i helped keep out of the Murdoch’s coffers😎

(You can call your cable company and have them remove the cable news channels)

  9. …just tried to find the original “flag” tweet  , that RR posted, above (i like to make sure i’m not getting duped, these days), and Lytle G. Warren is indeed a trumpistani, and theLeoTerrel tweets literally at least 50x a day, so i’m not scrolling through all of his trumpistani nonsense.  Seems like something they would post, though

  10. Pardon me if I don’t believe you, “Lyin’ Ted” Cruz.  Now, who was it that gave you that nickname?

I haven’t had cable for 7 years or so, but the Lincoln Project could probably do a nice job with it, depending on the demographic of those who still have cable. Maybe Fox Noise viewers are mostly the folks who are still hooked up.

  11. Tucker’s a lot like Hannity in that he has a manner of saying things that are neither true nor logical in such a way that your average dumbshit thinks what he said made sense and just has to be true.

    The Abbott-ERCOT death toll

Oh, and Greg no-mask-mandate Abbott is now ~REALLY~ concerned about how many crossing the border illegally may have covid.

However, we can’t take in everybody, especially not all at once and during a pandemic. I don’t have an answer to fix the problems in other countries, when ours is still really messy.

The issue with that global population story is that it’s looking at humans as a cost. Humans are more than workers and consumers. There are newer, cleaner sources of energy to reduce the impact on the climate. It’s the same dilemma of people as statistics v people as human beings with unique stories. I do think there are too many people, but maybe we’re just too clumped together around here. NYC never bothers me, though.

  13. Jamie, thx. Interesting, somewhat predictable, read. As a lawyer I’m into due process. I disagreed with the Franken situation and disagree with this one. I’ve seen similar issues- certainly not at the top levels of government- where as word got out about questionable claims those who never complained at the time somehow found the courage to remember that they, too, had been grievously wronged. It is a process I have not found to be fair or consistent with the requirements of due process. The investigative part of the process gets lost in the fervor to convict. Ask Franken how that worked.
