For Trump, Hurricanes Are Boring

Trump went to FEMA on Wednesday supposedly to discuss the upcoming hurricane season, but instead talked about:
-airplanes
-Kim Jong Un
-Gavin Newsom
-The generic ballot

And nothing about Puerto Rico

In private FEMA remarks, Trump’s focus strays from hurricanes (Washington Post): Trump turned “the closed-door discussion into soliloquies on his prowess in negotiating airplane deals, his popularity, the effectiveness of his political endorsements, the Republican Party’s fortunes, the vagaries of Defense Department purchasing guidelines, his dislike of magnetized launch equipment on aircraft carriers, his unending love of coal and his breezy optimism about his planned Singapore summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.”

Kim Jong-un ‘Begged’ on Hands and Knees to Revive Summit, Giuliani Says

Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, “got back on his hands and knees and begged” for the United States to revive the Singapore summit meeting after President Trump abruptly scrapped it last month, one of Mr. Trump’s lawyers, Rudolph W. Giuliani, said Wednesday. The remarks by Mr. Giuliani, apparently intended to portray Mr. Trump as a tough negotiator, may have lobbed a disruptive obstacle into the salvaged meeting less than a week before it is set to happen. The remarks could easily offend officials in North Korea, where a cultlike autocracy exalts Mr. Kim as a deity who cannot be seen as servile and weak.“If the North Koreans needed a reason to cancel the meeting, the Americans just gave it to them,” said Evans J.R. Revere, a former State Department diplomat who specializes in North Korea.

  2. “breezy optimism about his planned Singapore summit”?

gone with the wind…. windbag rudy that is.

how do they tap dance out of this one?

  3. No matter how hard the greedy old perverts and the media tries to normalize SFB, it comes down to the guy has more than one screw loose inside his little alternate world.  Besides the narcissistic side, it is obvious he is unable to speak coherently whether from degradation of Alzheimer’s or syphilis or other physical reason he is also a senile old man.

He is not normal.  He is fu&ked up.

Interesting how the disappearance of FLOTUS is being smoothed over with a ‘mind your own business’ trowel.  I still think there is more to the story than anyone is telling.  Why?  Something serious happened and it was not a simple thing like her stomping around the room wanting to go back to Slovenia. The strain of keeping it secret is going to give soon and someone will leak it.

  4. Patd, I was watching the “apology” clip when I posted that, but the second clip qualifies and imho is much more relevant.

  5. Delivery man dropping off pizza at Army base turned over to ICE officers https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/07/us/ice-undocumented-immigrant-arrest-pizza-delivery/index.html

His wife is a US citizen.  His two kids are US citizens.  He had applied for a green card.

When they deport him, what happens to his family?   Do Republicans want his kids to suffer & starve?   Aren’t they supposed to pro-child/life?   Why is the Republican Party allowing families to be broken up?  Aren’t they supposed to be pro-family?

Focus on drugs, gangs, actual criminals.

Nothing about this makes America safer or better in any way.

Any Republican (or Dem) who supports this garbage policy and tries to call themselves Christians are liars.

bbronc, reminds me of the problems martha posed to the point that they whisked her away to shut her up too …. from wiki:

In the days immediately after the Watergate break-in in 1972, her husband enlisted former FBI agent Steve King to prevent her from learning about the break-in or contacting reporters. Despite these efforts, Martha learned that one of her friends, her daughter’s bodyguard and driver James W. McCord Jr., was among those arrested. She began to explore the events in order to help him. While on a phone call with Helen Thomas about the Watergate break-in, King pulled the phone cord from the wall. She was held against her will in a California hotel room and forcefully sedated by a psychiatrist after a physical struggle with five men that left her needing stitches. Nixon aides, in an effort to discredit Mitchell, told the press that she had a “drinking problem”. Mitchell began contacting reporters when her husband’s role in the scandal became known, initially in an effort to defend him. Nixon was later to tell interviewer David Frost in 1977 that Martha was a distraction to John Mitchell, such that no one was minding the store, and “If it hadn’t been for Martha Mitchell, there’d have been no Watergate.”

could it be that melania is our new martha?  and does this portend a similar presidential resignation?

  7. time:

For the June 18 cover of TIME on the political attacks launched by White House on Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, we turned to Brooklyn-based artist Tim O’Brien. [….]

“This portrait of Trump gazing into a mirror and seeing a king gets to the heart of how he and his legal team have approached this past week and the past 500 days, actually,” O’Brien says.

  8. business insider:   ‘Delete all your emails and then acid-wash’ your hard drives: Sean Hannity suggests Mueller probe witnesses should destroy their evidence

Sean Hannity has called on the witnesses in Robert Mueller’s investigation to delete their evidence and destroy all their hardware in an attempt to derail the probe.
The Fox News host said on Wednesday night that witnesses should “acid-wash the emails on the hard drives and your phones” then smash them into “itsy bitsy pieces” with a hammer.
The advice — which would be illegal to follow — appeared to be at least partly sarcastic, and was delivered as part of an attack on Hillary Clinton.
    […]
Destroying or altering evidence is a criminal offense under US federal law and can result in up to 20 years’ imprisonment.
Hannity’s segment came in response to reports that Mueller had asked witnesses to turn in their personal phones so he could inspect private messages on encrypted messaging apps like WhatsApp, Signal, and Confide.

  9. What if evidence isn’t under Donald J. Trump but under John Barron, John Miller, David Dennison? Or who knows what name?
Donald J. Trump could honestly say You won’t find anything on me.

  10. raw story:
MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski revealed that President Donald Trump’s biggest complaint about his job is that he no longer can watch pornography from his office.

The “Morning Joe” co-host stuck around Thursday for “MSNBC Live with Stephanie Ruhle” to speak with the attorney for Stormy Daniels to discuss insults against the former porn actress by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.

“The hypocrisy is astounding,” Brzezinski said. “Because I know someone who spoke to Donald Trump recently about life in the White House, and Donald Trump’s biggest complaint was that he’s not allowed to watch porn in the White House. So there you go, there’s a little bit of news for you.”

Ruhle laughed at the revelation about the president’s personal conduct, and cracked a joke.

“I bet they have those 1-900 numbers blocked, too, which must be a disappointment,” she said.

Brzezinski angrily lashed out at Giuliani several times during her program over Giuliani’s remarks, which she said could embolden other women to come forward to challenge the president over his past treatment.

  11. from politicususa:
Rachel Maddow pounced on a new admission on Wednesday that a Trump-linked firm used data stolen by a Russian researcher to influence the 2016 presidential election.

It’s the latest indication that collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin is increasingly likely.
    Maddow said:

“With everything else going on in the Trump administration, everything else going on in the world, we are still every day dealing with this question of whether or not our president was chosen not just because of a foreign intelligence operation. We’re grappling with this existential question as to whether his campaign was part of that foreign intelligence operation. And now there is this admission today that in fact the Trump campaign’s data firm in the election run by his top donor Robert Mercer, led by his campaign chief Steve Bannon, that data firm was a foreign firm using foreign workers microtargeting U.S. voters in swing states right up through election day, using an incredibly potent personalized detailed data set that was stolen for them by a Russian researcher paid for by the Russian government. And I — and I know that sounds like international news. I know that sounds like something about other countries, but that’s the problem, right? Because it’s not supposed to be international news when you tell the story of how you got the current American president.

Rachel Maddow zeroed in on what remains the most important question of this presidency, and it has since day one: Did the Trump administration actively work with Russia to steal the 2016 election?

With today’s admission that a top Trump-linked data firm used stolen info from Russia, we were brought even closer to having the answer to that critical question.

  12. When you wake up and decide you really need to look up The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the news may be bothering you a bit.

  14. Since Trumpsky & Hannity reportedly speak to each other on the phone before beddy-bye every night,  did Trumpsky tell Seanny to tell potential witnesses to destroy files before Team Mueller can get to ‘em?

Speaking of teams, Colin Kapernick is providing us with a new case of collusion. Apparently, Trumpsky spoke with several NFL team owners and they may have colluded to not hire him.

  15. While Trump & his cabinet have been totally ignorant on their use of websites, much of the content prior to the inauguration migrated to two websites:

    ObamaWhiteHouse.gov or archived at https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/white-house-web-site-trump-changes/

    https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/white-house-web-site-trump-changes/

Of course the Trump pages are being loaded with the corporate crap to kill all mentions of climate change, education as well as the petition pages since they don’t actually want to talk to citizens.

  16. Given our Heinlein discussion, a little something to take your mind off things.  I’ve managed to resist the appeal of CBS all Access until now.  A new series begins June 14:  Strange Angel.  It is based on the life of Jack Parsons who when he wasn’t eventing rocket propulsion and founding JPL worshiped in an oddball sexual religion while hobnobbing with sci fi writers of the period including Robert Heinlein (who used him as a source in two stories) and L. Ron Hubbard who went on to extract ideas to found Scientology.  I don’t know what CBS will do with it, but it all could get very interesting.  The characters real and imagined also get used in the following book

Lifestyles of the Nerdy and Perverted

  17. Whoever started the meme about Dems and California was a maroon big time.   No wonder the Dotard can say fake news and people believe him.  And all the people who indulged in that speculation are now silent.  I think they need to step up and say they were wrong and stupid.

Why not cover actual news instead of speculation.

  18. Dont like Sanders all that much…..but i had to bookmark this one…..must listen to it all imo. I have been saying these facts for years:

  19. “Speaking of teams, Colin Kaepernick is providing us with a new case of collusion. Apparently, Trumpsky spoke with several NFL team owners and they may have colluded to not hire him.” – Ms D

I seem to remember that MN’s Elgin Baylor and Rod Carew beat up the NBA and MLB, respectively, in federal courts over just such matters. I’m not sure that Mr K stands on such solid legal ground as those two great ones.

  20. Flatus, thanks for the kind words.  Ive been pretty independent of the good or bad opinion of others  most of my life.  I am proud that a person like you would say that about me.  I have always listened to all those here on the trail.  Cant think of a finer group of people  to try and emulate.  I always mentioned those that have gone and never came back.  I think of a few of them also from time.

….Haven’t had to many role models in my life….but the few that i have had would have been great trail hands….later

  21. I figure the occupant is the kind of guy who would turn the A/C way up high and then light up the propane fire logs……

  22. I support Citizen Phil Noble as the best Democratic candidate for Governor of South Carolina.

  23. I heard a McMaster ad today…..it was vile……trying to out-trump  trump.
Bout all I could think while the ad played was Jesus, what a creep.

  24. Is cnn.com paying you per link, BiD? Let’s see, 10 links today, a dime a piece… you made a dollar!  I hope.  Otherwise you’re just sharing every meaningless cnn.com article for no good reason.

Oh, and evangelicals don’t give a flip that Trump is an amoral hypocrite- they’re self-confessed Machiavellians, and if you consumed any other news besides the consumer cable based trash you love to complain about, you’d already know that.

  25. Trump administration tells court it won’t defend key provisions of the Affordable Care Act https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/07/politics/trump-admin-aca/index.html

Still no health “care” in this country, just rotten, insurance companies who can now deny coverage to those of us with pre-existing conditions.  ACA wasn’t affordable here, so I know a few who took the penalty anyway.    It was never fixed & now it’s even worse.

  26. I figure the occupant is the kind of guy who would turn the A/C way up high and then light up the propane fire logs…… – Mr Sturgeone

Why not, Mr S ? After all, it’s your money.

  27. Mr Bink,

I enjoy Ms B’s links. I pass many of them on to some crypto-nazis* I correspond with, just to annoy them.

*They’d probably join the “Party” if they weren’t such cheap bastards.

  28. Mr Flatus must be right. Noble looks pretty good to me. Han prata lila Svensk, akso.

Mr Sturgeone must be right. mcmaster is obviously bad news in the making.
