  1. continué from prior thread …
Manchin craves power and attention. If he thinks he needs to flip to R to stay in office he’ll flip.
And no. You presume too much. I’m more concerned with the 1,804,000 (90,000  more than for the RB) Georgians who voted for the preacher over the running back in the red state next door to my home state.

  2. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/06/media/new-york-times-union-negotiations-reliable-sources/index.html

“The New York Times is preparing for more than 1,100 of its union staffers to go on strike for a full day Thursday…”

“The historic work stoppage is set to go in effect at midnight on December 8 and last for an entire 24 hours.”

So, they’re taking the day off.

“In effect, the public will get a glimpse of a world without much of The Times’ hard-hitting and informative journalism.”

Yeah, I don’t think most of the public will notice.

  3. that other day of infamy when america was attacked by those who did not believe in democracy

REPOST PEARL HARBOR TRIBUTE DEC 7

  4. Voters went to the polls in Georgia today to decide whether Sen. Raphael Warnock or Herschel Walker will be their next Senator, and the family of a fallen Capitol Police officer refused to shake hands with Sen. McConnell and Rep. McCarthy at a White House ceremony.

  5. December 7 is important for many memories beyond the obvious. It marks the day I finally got a flight out of basic training to my tech school in Colorado. It was -15F when we landed and we did not have proper winter gear.  It also jogs my memory for (at least one hour) that wedding anniversary is coming up.  This year will be (using fingers and toes to count) fifty-one years.  Hope I can remember for a few more days so I can send the email to ex.  Sometimes one of us will remember on the date, sometimes we don’t remember for a few days.  Funny how time flies.

  6. editorial board Opinion | Georgia is turning purple — and should be a 2024 early primary state – The Washington Post

    […]

Georgia, with 11 million residents and 16 electoral votes, is becoming in American politics what Ohio and Florida used to be: a genuinely competitive battleground. The state is more reflective of the United States than Iowa, which through poorly administered caucuses squandered any claim to its role as the starting gate of the quadrennial nominating process. This is why we applaud the Democratic National Committee’s move last week to make Georgia an early primary state, following South Carolina, Nevada and New Hampshire.

  7. My late-night musing, Pogo, was an inelegant expression of amazement at the phenomenon of more than a million people making the effort to vote for an obviously unqualified and incoherent candidate to represent them, and wasn’t in response to any other comments.  Disregard it all save for “Good job, Senator Warnock”

If my ex were still amongst the living, this would have been our 60th anniversary. Always give him a kind thought in August.

  9. The peeps who voted for Herschel wete not stating their assessment of his abilities, they were stating their assessment of his susceptibility to being controlled.  Easy vote for someone who thinks that way.

  10. As Michael Steele said last night on MSNBC…   Republicans aren’t voting for Walker… they are voting against the seat remaining Democratic despite Walker.

Sturg…  walking the USS Arizona hit me like a ton of bricks… one of the most moving things I’ve ever done.

  11. A few commentators made note of Walker giving a real concession line.  His prowess on the gridiron is well noted.  What is less known is what organized sports does to people.  You are taught “good sportsmanship” from your first game to the last.  And, that includes losing.  You may hate to lose, but losing is something that happens.  For all his failings, he still holds his “good sportsmanship” to heart.  When I saw the clip of his concession that is very first thing I thought of. Now hopefully he understands that politics is not like playing a civil game like football or even 43 Man Squamish. https://www.madcoversite.com/quiz_olympics.html

  12. Just because Trump is going doesn’t mean Trump style or initiatives are gone.
Clearly The creepy gov of Florida styles himself as a better version

  13. And, sadly, a large portion of our fellow Americans will gladly carry water for whomever happens to be their flag-bearer.  They don’t care about democracy.

  14. https://thechainsaw.com/nft/nft-art/lensa-ai-app-selfie-avatars-ethical-concerns/

“In Lensa’s terms and conditions, it states that images can be used by Prisma AI — the company behind Lensa that further trains the AI’s neural networks. It uses position, orientation and face topology analytical tech that is also used for Apple’s TrueDepth API, the same technology used for iPhone holders to unlock phones with their face.”

“Many artists have called out the Lensa app for ripping off their work, fearing the loss of their income because their work has been stolen to feed the neural networks without compensation.”

“DO NOT USE THE LENSA APP’s “MAGIC AVATAR” GENERATOR,” said one artist, Meg Lam. “It uses Stable Diffusion, an AI art model to sample artwork from artists that never consented to their work being used.”

“The Lensa AI app uses images that you send and upload, takes data that includes original pieces of artwork from across the internet and then charges you for it.”

Can we quickly get some bipartisan support to stop garbage tech from stealing intellectual property, please?

  15. I guess he thought he’d flushed them.  Yah, he’s lazy; he had help. Plus, how did he know what to take?  He’s no rocket surgeon.

  16. The legal beagles hired an outside company to do searches of the known properties, including the golf course.  No mention of digging holes or other not known locations though.  This is another jo event with only dribbles known – so far.  One report had sfb legal team saying nothing classified was found, only to have a little drip of “two classified” somethings being handed over to the FBI.  There is a whole lot of nothing being said about something.  Also, this was performed around/before Thanksgiving Day. Once again, delay, confuse, lie and whatever all the while trying not to be sanctioned or having legal privileges removed (like mr. landscaping and brown sweat).

  17. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/07/americas/peru-president-castillo-congress-dissolves-intl/index.html

“The tumultuous day began when then-President Castillo announced plans to dissolve Congress and install an emergency government, ahead of a looming impeachment vote by lawmakers.”

“He also called for parliamentary elections to work on a new constitution.”

Don’t change know Orange Adolf is taking notes, unless Castillo was a follower of his.

“The President faces five preliminary criminal investigations on allegations of masterminding corruption schemes while in office.”

  18. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/07/europe/germany-far-right-arrests-grm-intl/index.html

“German officials arrested 22 suspected members and three suspected supporters of a far-right terrorist organization across the country on Wednesday on suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government.”

“Two of the suspected supporters were German and one was Russian, it added.”

“A former far-right member of the Bundestag, Germany’s lower house of parliament, is connected to the plot…”

“The members of the group follow a conglomerate of conspiracy myths consisting of narratives of the so-called Reichsbürger as well as QAnon ideology.”

There’s a lot of that going around,

“Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that the threat of nuclear war is increasing.

“In a meeting at the Kremlin with Russia’s Human Rights Council, Putin said “In terms of the threat of nuclear war, you are right, such threat is increasing. As for the idea that Russia wouldn’t use such weapons first under any circumstances, then it means we wouldn’t be able to be the second to use them either — because the possibility to do so in case of an attack on our territory would be very limited,” Putin added, “Nevertheless, we have a strategy… namely, as a defense, we consider weapons of mass destruction, nuclear weapons — it is all based around the so-called retaliatory strike — that is, when we are struck, we strike in response.”

So, in Poo-tin’s deranged mind, he “retaliates” by making first strike. Someone please take this nincompoop off of the world stage.

  20. Wow, I scored a big time goal on FB.  The WH, under President Biden account, made note of something referencing “since FDR”.  I made a comment of add Supreme Court Justices.  What a bunch of touchy snowflakes. “unconstitutional”, obscene comments, Great Job, Great Idea, and “Most Relevant is selected, so some replies may have been filtered out.”  Oh yeah. I am sure a lot of rwnj comments were blocked.   I have never had that FB screening message since I started on FB (when FB started national).  Cool.  I can now sit back with nice Manhattan and enjoy the evening. I have done my rile the undies of the far right  wing nut jobs for today.

  21. Well. Leave FB behind to enjoy an evening of music by Her (at the time March 2020) Majesty Royal Marine Band.   His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Princess Markle were in attendance.  When announced a lot of clapping, cheers and whistling.  As the camera swept the audience there were obvious arms crossed.  Like in no way will I approve that mixed marriage.  I was surprised at the negative response by many.  They were drowned out by the enthusiastic approval of the rest of the audience. Yeah, they left the pointed discrimination for general in the U.S.  Just reminded that I am related to Princess D by marriage in the 1800’s.  Cousins will support cousins, so I support Harry and his wife.

  22. BB – She’s a narcissist who preyed on an emotionally fragile male.  She’s a bunny boiler, just like ex-half gov of Alaska.  She’s an actress.  She does, however, have impeccable style; the wedding dress was beautiful.  Too bad it’s going to be covered with the blowback of what’s being thrown at her husband’s family. She’ll never live a quiet life. She loves the spotlight. Watch.  She’ll run for office when her kids are a bit older.
