good one, Stephen (or Stephen’s writer)

Jamie, thanks but the contest has just begun.

  2. meanwhile, back in the world of civility and sensibility, others speak a language once spoken here in the hallowed halls of a democratic republic….

    the guardian:

In a speech to MEPs, Donald Tusk, the head of the European council, suggested reversing Brexit was still a possibility in his mind. “If the UK government sticks to its decision to leave, Brexit will become a reality – with all its negative consequences – in March next year. Unless there is a change of heart among our British friends.”

Tusk recalled the words of the UK Brexit secretary, David Davis, who said in 2013 that “if a democracy cannot change its mind, it ceases to be a democracy”. Quoting these remarks, Tusk said: “We, here on the continent, haven’t had a change of heart. Our hearts are still open to you.”

Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European commission, endorsed this conclusion. “[Tusk] said our door still remains open and I hope that will be heard clearly in London.”

Don’t miss Trump slamming the Congressional Black Caucus in this great work of tick-tock, gonna be a talker today:

Washington Post: Trump’s ping-ponging from dealmaking to feuding, from elation to fury, has come to define the contentious immigration talks between the White House and Congress. https://t.co/tGV6ChBgmD

  6. very odd, have tried 3 times to post an article from tampa bay times about marco’s bill re election interference and it doesn’t appear.  whassup?

    WASHINGTON

U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Chris Van Hollen have a message for Moscow: Any interference in future U.S. elections will be met with swift punishment if Congress acts.

The Florida Republican who ran for president in 2016 and the Maryland Democrat will introduce a bill on Tuesday that sets explicit punishments for the Russian government — and other countries — if they meddle in future federal elections and directs the Director of National Intelligence to issue a report on potential election interference within one month of any federal election.

  8. Renee, living in the land of snow & ice, mud then bugs, you’ll appreciate this – we got a dusting overnight and the forecast here today is 1-3″ from Inga – and it’s 35 degrees now.  Schools all over the state are closed. 😉

  9. pogo, thanks… tampa bay story a bit different than the McClatchy.  don’t know why your link came up but not mine. for awhile there I tho’t the russkies were messing with us again.

  10. Cuz I just see lobby money-bloated Critters laying about & lying about yelping, “I don’t recall! But I know he didn’t say THAT. But I don’t recall.”

  11. I do not believe that one can attest that someone did not say something, unless of course that person listened to every word the other one said for the entire length of this or that meeting, conversation, whatever, and has a flawless memory.  Proof a a negative is elusive at best.  And when you’ve said you didn’t recall a word being used, a subsequent denial is simply not credible.  But you know that.

  12. Pogo…  OMG…  3 inches of snow…   stop the presses!…  stop the buses!  We are expecting 8 inches tomorrow…  it might get schools closed… but then again, maybe not.

My dentist is a Russian.  Does that mean I have Russian connections.  And my doctor is a Pakistani.  Geez I guess I’m just a bastion of intrigue!

  13. Leader of Liars for Trump, Tom Cotton -Moron-Ark…claimed Senator Dick Durbin is a serial liar.

More of the “I know I am but so are you” strategerie of SFB

  14. Meghan Kelly should’ve spent less time on Donny’s sex life and more time with the EFT guy.  (After all, many Prez’s have had extramarital affairs, and, there are more important issues of Trumpco to expose. It just seems like National Enquirer-worthy aka worthless garbage.)  Spend more time with something that could benefit folks & less time on something that’s gonna gross is out.  I guess we can use EFT to overcome the thought of Donny in his tighty whiteys.

  15. Little Dicky Durbin,

    said things that were disturbin’

    He said what he heard

    ‘bout hole & a turd

The response by most GoOPerz is un-nervin’

  16. Yes, Renee, Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh, my!!! (As of now we’ve had very light snow all morning with no accumulation).  I suspect the kids are stir crazy – out of school, not enough snow to play in, and stuck with parents all day.

  17. From memory :

There was a young lady from Conneticut
Who flagged the express with her petticut
This the experts defined as presence of mind
But a dreadful absence of etticut

  18. Three White House officials said Perdue and Cotton told the White House that they heard “shithouse” rather than “shithole,” allowing them to deny the president’s comments on television over the weekend. The two men initially said publicly that they could not recall what the president said.

Not only did these two repeatedly lie, but Cotton also impugned the integrity of Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.), who told the truth. Asked whether the accusation that Trump spoke the offending words or the sentiment was phony, Cotton lied, “Yes.” He went on to say, “Senator Durbin has misrepresented what happened in White House meetings before, and he was corrected by Obama administration officials by it.”
Honorable men would resign after such a remarkable revelation of their crummy character; neither Cotton nor Perdue will. We still await the appearance of a single staffer of either who would quit in protest.

  19. As I have written many times before, I can understand, speak, read and write walrus. I am also expert at reading lips. In fact, it was I who was able to read george bush’s lips and inform the world that he’d promised, “no newt axis”. Of course that turned out to be a lie. Anywhat, in the picture of the walrus rally, I can see clearly that they are screaming, “Ben Gozzie ! Ben Gozzie !”

  20. the doc just passed the twit on cognitive part of med exam.

guess the twit’s just your ordinary megalomaniacal narcissist and evil dude then…. can’t blame his mendacious maleficence on crazy anymore.

  21. It’s his Valium addiction. That, and the fact that he descends from racist, sexist, religious bigots, and at least one pimp.

  22. trump threw a fancy WH party in October for kirstjen nielsen, gf of kelly, for her new job at DHS.  Taxpayers footing the bill for lobbyists.
Attendees included commerce secretary Wilbur Ross, secretary of state Rex Tillerson, economic advisor Gary Cohn, presidential advisors Kellyanne Conway and Jared Kushner, and big names from K Street, Washington’s lobbying corridor, like Stewart Verdery, whose Monument Policy represents Fortune 500 clients like Amazon, Toyota, and Northrup Grumman.
Afterward, the White House billed the DHS $8,000 for the party, a White House advisor told Quartz. The White House typically charges catering and event costs to a department’s budget if the event is seen as “furthering the mission” of the agency, he said.

  23. The former reliable WH doctor has been bought off with something.  Expecting him to retire to a SFB resort soon.

PatD – you asked why the Asian rice cookers are better than a cup of rice in a couple cups of water in a sauce pot.  The rice cookers are smart and cook the rice just right using a little pressure cooking.  I also use rice that is th same rice Asians use, so the result is also great. The rice is not long grain.  More like medium grain.  You can also leave what rice you have not eaten at a perfect temperature to eat, even two days later (not recommended).  The cookers have settings for different rices.  Brown rice. Sweet rice.  Sushi rice. Porridge mix. and more.  I eat a lot of Asian meals so I cook a lot of rice, it can be twice daily.  My rice cooker is like a regular kitchen utensil.  I put the rice and water in, close the lid, set the type of rice and hit start.  When it is done I have wonderful rice.

It can be used as a steamer, I have steam pots, steamer trays and more to steam foods so the rice cooker does not do that work.

  24. I’m curious about you guys’s take on the Aziz Ansari incident reported on the Babe website.  Mrs. P and I were discussing it this morning, I read this article on it at WaPo, followed the link to the Babe article and read it, and I think I’m missing something.

  25. Um, it sounds like he acted like a gross jerk & she gave mixed messages (didn’t leave as soon as his behavior was unwanted) because she didn’t want to lose access to him/his celebrity (and he knew it).

  26. You cannot negotiate with a bully.

You cannot negotiate with a pathological liar.

You cannot negotiate with a sociopath.

You cannot negotiate with a Narcissist.

  27. BiD

Has it just about right.  What she is describing is date rape.  A woman gets herself into a situation where she feels that for whatever reason she cannot get out of safely without submission or is trying of mollify a potentially angry male who might be useful at some future time.

Fortunately, women these days are willing to risk the outcome that goes with forceful rejection of some ass who thinks he can get away with a whole lot of pressure and insistence as methods to use to get his way.

  28. Craig,

I’m curious.  You can email if the answer is too sensitive for public display.  Do you know Tucker Carlson?  If so, is he as indescribably as much of an ignorant, privileged, dimwit as he seems?

  29. I watched that Doctor……..he was lying.    I’ve seen some really weird shit from Trump. but being able to rig the presidential physical is just a weird too far.

i think they’re going to try and “shoot the moon”……..they’re going to go all the way.

  30. I haven’t dated in 25 years but it never was part of my experience that any woman I dated didn’t just tell me no if she wasn’t interested in going where I was. Then again, I’m not a celebrity. And never felt I was in control of the sex in my dating experiences.

  31. Just got a message from the power company; it’s cold, so turn down your thermostats or we may all lose power tomorrow.   Should be the coldest day in 22 years.

Had to chuckle at that test.  Which words did Donny name that start with “F”?  Possibly better than if the test listed “S.”

  32. The deadbeat pussypincher is 6’3″ when wearing his lifts. Other sources put him at 6’2″.  He hasn’t seen 239 lbs since he was dating Marla.
