Can Trump Still Be Dumped?

Back to the GOP party rules: “the Republican National Committee is hereby authorized and empowered to fill any and all vacancies which may occur by reason of death, declination, or otherwise of the Republican candidate for President of the United States or the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States.”

Declination? Websters: “a turning aside or swerving.” Or perhaps the GOP persuades Trump to step aside.

Question: What about early votes if Trump is replaced? Don’t forget, we don’t actually vote for candidates, tho we think we do. We actually vote for electoral college delegates. It’s complicated, but this is doable.

  1. And with all of this stuff in the wings – the Republicans didn’t see this coming?  Is anyone surprised?

    President Pence?

Unless Trump shoots himself in the head tonight – he’ll remain the nominee.  I don’t see how he quits – he has no loyalty to anyone, including a political party.  He only has loyalty to the Trump brand.  I don’t see how he quits.

  2. For the reasons I stated in the previous thread, I am confident the Republicans are stuck with Trump.

In Oregon, we have a total vote-by-mail system.  The ballots start going out next week.  In most states, voters vote for a candidate with a slate of electors.  It is my understanding that most states require voting for the ballot winner as I stated before.

  3. Craig…On MSNBC they are reporting that the talk is that donors are telling the party to walk away from Trump and have a losing write-in campaign…

I checked with fairvote.  29 states require electors to vote for their pledged candidate

  4. As the Supreme Court correctly ruled in Bush vs. Gore, “the individual citizen has no federal constitutional right to vote” for president. Our Constitution gives that power to the state legislatures, which have delegated that power to the electors we actually vote for. This is what gives the RNC power to dump Trump, so long as the electors agree with supporting his replacement.

  5. Craig…there would have to be a constitutional challenge to the laws of 29 states.  Nevertheless…Trump is toast.  With Trump on the ballot, many of his supporters would vote for him or stay home.  With that in mind, a GOP write- in would give Republicans cover, but Hillary would probably win 45-50 states.

  6. Hillary hater Rep. Jason Chaffetz, Utah Republican, just bailed on Trump. Me thinks Ryan is orchestratimg a mutiny. Irony is Dems should hope he doesn’t succeed and Trump stays in place.

  7. If I weren’t in the middle of a health improvement, I would buy a bottle of champagne tonight.

  8. I don’t want to leave the tv but, I still need to get in 5,000 steps tonight. Tony…hope all is well…

  9. Ping, we’ve been discussing policy here for 10 years. You, too.

Unfortunately for your hopes, trump and ailes have re-opened the conversation about the War on Women policies of the republican party. The attitude that women exist to be used as tools or toys for male enjoyment or camouflage undergirds these anti-woman policies. Let’s face the fact that trump, giuliani, ailes, murdoch, mccain, vitter, mark sanford, hatfield, durenburger, schwarzeneggar, oreilly, jimmy swaggart, brodkorb, tony alamo, hastert, duggar, limbaugh, haggard, larry craig, eddie long, roy cohen, bob bauman, and jim bakker, were/are not isolated republican ‘family values’ hypocrites. They were/are merely recent cases of politically active republican males who used women as toys or tools. They easily come to mind. There are lots more such names, but I’m not going to look them up right now.

The point is, this adolescent jock attitude toward women has become republican policy. Therefore, we discuss it here.

To be fair and balanced, against that long list of republicans, I can cite Dems in the same time frame: bill clinton, wiener, and spitzer, but unlike the republicans cited, these guys never claimed to guard America’s chastity.

  10. WT hell is going on.  My Republican contacts are telling me that Huntsman and Romney are involved with something here.

  11. Many Republicans are saying they must repudiate Trump to save their image, no matter how messy it gets. Better for Dems if they dither and do nothing. Paul Ryan gets that, and is on the move.

  12. and the plot thickens. beckell says this “race is over tonight.”  cnn melt down.  craig- please go back to work- our country needs you.

  13. holy shit- big argument – scotty told ana navarro “to stop saying pussy- it offends her ” ana replied “how is it that it offends you when i say pussy but not when donald trump says it” this is all surreal – never thought i’d hear this on cnn. thanks so much trump for bringing your low brow behavior to the national conversation.

  14. Here is the transcript of his statement:
“I’ve never said I’m a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I’m not. I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more-than-a-decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize. I have traveled the country talking about change for America, but my travels have also changed me. I’ve spent time with grieving mothers who have lost their children, laid-off workers whose jobs have gone to other countries, and people from all walks of life who just want a better future. I have gotten to know the great people of our country, and I’ve been humbled by the faith they’ve placed in me. I pledge to be a better man tomorrow and will never, ever let you down. Let’s be honest: We’re living in the real world. This is nothing more than a distraction from the important issues we’re facing today. We are losing our jobs, we’re less safe than we were eight years ago, and Washington is totally broken. Hillary Clinton and her kind have run our country into the ground. I’ve said some foolish things, but there’s a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women, and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims. We will discuss this more in the coming days. See you at the debate on Sunday.”

  15. I am back from a long walk to read that Anna Navarro said the “p” word on CNN…I would not want to get her mad at me…

The Republican Party needed to renounce Trump months ago.  A few have, but not enough…

  16. and she said it 3 times!  scottie complained to don that it should be bleeped out- he pointed out that they were not bleeping “pussy” tonight. after ana started shouting there was a commercial- she didn’t return- but they did start bleeping “pussy” on the following show.  what a night.

  17. Wow. The Dead Senator Walking, mark kirk, took a whack at the deadbeat. I wonder how many triple-crossing arschlochen are soon to be footnotes. Their speeches in support of trump should now rain down on them like poison gas.

  18. “I’m not as bad as the other candidate’s husband” is one helluva campaign slogan.

  19. Politics has dominated the night.  I think we all know that the storm and the effects on real lives is what’s really important…

  20. This disqualifies him but his public request to Russia to spy on us doesn’t.  What a friggin’ world.

  21. Like that episode of West Wing where Josh Limon was duct taped into the chair and told to do absolutely nothing.  Hillary needs to be quiet and say nothing.  Show up to the debate ready to debate.  Period.

Or, she can at the last minute refuse to show up to the debate – say she won’t debate such a piece of human waste – but she won’t do that.

What is important is that the Dems do nothing to legitimize what is happening.  Trump is a shit sandwich – and the Democrats need to make sure that everyone on the other side of the isle is required to take big bite!  No letting anyone anywhere off the hook.

  22. Mike Lee  (R. UT) calls for drumpf to step aside.   Donald, listen to me, don’t listen to Mike.  STAY IN THE RACE.

  23. Lewandowski’s delusional. Drumpf has just Telegraph his strategy to come after Bill Clinton tomorrow night. I agree with the assessment that a crazy campaign slogan is I’m not as bad as my opponent’s husband.

  24. div…I am with you.  xrep…nicely stated.

the trump tape is still the lead story  — a news story so hot?  It has evaporated Hurricane Matthew.   I have read many stories about how the tape was discovered…the claim is after the story the AP ran last Monday about former trump employees spilling the beans about trump’s rude and degrading behavior?  Access Hollywood went looking for the old tape of trump.  NBC (Universal) was going to hold the tape until after the townhall.  Someone sent it to Wapo and they released it as they should have before the townhall.  I remember viewing a tape of trump watching Marla jump on a mini-trampoline and making lewd comments….probably 1990 or so….never was able to find that tape…it ran on ET.

This story is so layered in many ways…billy bush of the Bush family, no less, young bull on the tape, made a faster and better apology…kindly moved out of the way.  melania?  she is mentioned on the tape…now she is the new Hillary.     chaffetz launches his 2020 campaign, fresh from his expensive hunt of the Clintons?  he is now the trump-slayer.   a change of conscience of the GOP because we have vid…audio of this voice saying the things that women in his path have said for years.  Expect him to double down at the townhall.

trump has no diplomatic chops.   he is looking pretty crappy, too.   No stamina…he may come down with pneumonia before the debate.  I think Clinton should still hit him on taxes.

wapo and nytimes are lucky to get such info rich, hard evidence…investigative reporting is so weak this year…maybe the repugs should have vetted corpse trump before they released him and his hounds, ailes, bannon, conway, bossie, stone upon the american citizenry.

  25. if possible, Clinton should remain in her sitting pretty chair for most of the day. play with her dogs…talk about her dogs at the debate, taxes, the gut wrenching hurt of a public affairs that has been vetted since last century and victim blaming.   perhaps trump should reconsider taking a drink, having a smoke before the debate.  I wonder if bill cosby and trump ever went out together?

assange?  wikileaks has been drained.  he better start tunneling out of the banana republic embassy in London.

  26. and if I may offer any advice to the Clinton campaign…please mention that abuse, inappropriate touching and rape happen to men…and many are silent as it is more shaming for a man, I believe.  It is important to make sure this is not just about women, but about predatory behavior on other humans.

  27. this shunning by the goper leadership will not hurt drumpf with many indies and teapers who are anti-establishment, anti-party to begin with.  they will see his stand to stay in as challenging the status quo, proving his creds and strengthening their belief he is one of them.

depends on media attention to Russian leaked Hillary tapes whether drumpf campaign recovers…. also just how salacious (i.e. “news”worthy) his attacks on the big dawg will be at the townhall.

whaddaya wanna bet ivanka wrote the statement (see transcript at kgc 1:06 comment). has too much of a compassionate nature about it to have been authored by either trump or his ailes ilk.

  28. even Alexandra petri got serious and spoke of reality in the conclusion of her op ed “Why Donald Trump and Billy Bush’s leaked conversation is so awful”:

That is the awful thing about this conversation. It is not that it is especially lewd, although it is. It is not that it is violent and awful and wrong, although it is. It is the fact that it is, within certain circles, still quite normal. It’s the fact that Donald Trump used, as a defense, the idea that he’d said much worse.

It’s the fact that when Billy Bush heard him, Bush did not stop the bus they were riding on and say, “MY GOD, MAN, YOU ARE SICK! THIS IS SICK! THIS IS AWFUL!” He nodded. He laughed. You had the sense that Donald Trump could have escalated still further — past non-consensually grabbing people by the p—y (that’s sexual assault, by the way) — and into building himself a coat from female skin before Bush would have begun pushing back.

And even then, he might just have giggled.

  29. trump was in the dumper before this….now?  Boy Howdy  Have a nice day Kelley Ann Condom you stupid woman

  30. boston globe: Elizabeth Warren goes after Trump on lewd comments

Senator Elizabeth Warren, one of Donald Trump’s most vocal social media antagonists, took to Twitter late Friday to castigate the Republican presidential nominee for his lewd statements about groping women.

The Massachusetts senator called on Trump to come clean about the statements recorded in 2005 as he prepared for a reality television appearance.

    Elizabeth Warren

    @elizabethforma

.@realdonaldtrump: Were you lying or was sexual assault part of your action every day? It’s a simple question. You should have to answer it.

  31. Politico is running a story saying the RNC members don’t want to replace Trump

Trump keeps saying he is going to bring up Bill Clinton. He has been bringing him up since the beginning of the campaign. Does not seem to working

  32. Ahhhhh….   I loves me the smell of Republican implosion in the morning!

Rick and I are back home.  Praying for Chef Sheila now…   everyone in the path of Matthew stay safe.

  33. I think our Constitution says, in the period between the election and inauguration that the prez-elect becomes unavailable, the vp-elect will become prez.

  34. I just checked into Facebook….   Chef Sheila posted there a few minutes ago.  Thank goodness she is safe.

  35. THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE, by Jeff Greenfield
On Election Day in 1996, the The Republican presidential ticket of Foyle-Block wins enough states to receive 305 Electoral Votes, compared to 233 Electoral votes for the Democratic ticket of Mueller-Vincent. Since 270 Electoral votes are needed to win the Presidency, the issue of who should be the next President is thought resolved.
However, President-elect Foyle dies only days after the election in a freak accident. The Republican party then promotes his running mate, Governor Theodore Block, to the top of the ticket. Governor Block quickly proves that he is a mental lightweight, his nickname being Terry Blockhead, leading some to question his fitness for the Presidency.
One of those questioning Block’s fitness to be President is Michigan Elector Dorothy Ledger, one of those forgotten people lost in a party’s political machine who seems unimportant—until the fate of an election hinges on her actions. Ledger publicly questions whether she is required to vote for Block, and in so doing sets-off a political firestorm and a minor rebellion among some Republican Electors. A series of missteps by Block further exacerbates the issue.
Meanwhile, W. Dixon Mason, an African American preacher, and his supporters moves toward endorsing its own favorite candidate. while Washington D.C. “political powerbroker” Jack Petitcon, and his allies attempt to control the process as well.[3] Avi DuPour is a popular liberal-bashing radio host who provides commentary on the proceedings.[4]

  36. Jeff Greenfield’s phony history….guess it’s better than when he was writing phony current events

  37. Good morning all

Glad Sheila is good. All good here. Beautiful day for cleaning up, sunny 88. Power came back on at 7am.. The Internet is the last hold out. Not really thanks to great cell service.

OMG,  Trump is more vile than I could have imagined.. How do men like him have mothers, wives and daughters and practice sexual assault and abuse like this?

  38. I love Joy Reid!  and Chris Mathews can go f—  himself.   He is the Uriah Heep of pundits –practically kissing the Condom’s butt

  39. For the guys who need a tune up on their ears, this is how misogyny works.  Can anyone imagine Hillary Clinton saying:

“And when you’re a star they let you do it,” Hillary continues. “You can do anything … Grab them by the d***. You can do anything.”

  40. Everyone should put on their raincoats–  the mudfest is on……………

  41. If Trump drops out, is he replaced by the second-highest vote-getter in the primaries? Do they end up with Cruz instead of Pence?

Yes, Trump said horrible things on that tape. Ask Juanita Broadrrick and Paula Jones if that’s worse than what Bill did to them, and, Hillary not believing or blaming the victims.

I do wonder at the timing of this tape, since it has taken the attention away from the leak of Hillary’s paid speeches to Goldman Sachs. She thinks Wall Street should be consulted on fixing things.  For whom?  For her friends who are the financial engineers who are ruining this country.

At any rate, there are four parties on my ballot, not two.  I will still vote for Jill Stein.

  42. Buddy on Facebook, Vince Pesce wrote this.  Pretty much puts everything in perspective:
“So robbing the government of at least $1 billion wasn’t enough. The Trump IPO robbing investors wasn’t enough. His loose talk on nuclear weapons wasn’t enough. The Central Park joggers weren’t enough. The Obama birth certificate wasn’t enough. The Mexican rapist comment wasn’t enough. The wanting to deport 16 million people wasn’t enough. The comments about Megyn Kelly, Carly Fiorina, Rosie O’Donnell, Alicia Machado weren’t enough. His statement about “punishing” women who had abortions wasn’t enough. His tax plan leading to $5 trillion more in debt over the next ten years wasn’t enough. His spat with Gold Star families wasn’t enough. His comments about John McCain and PTSD weren’t enough. His statement that our country has third world infrastructure and the military is weak weren’t enough. His bluster of “I alone can fix it” wasn’t enough.

But now a hot mic will sink him???
The fact that this man was nominated for President at all is so obscene that nothing else afterward compares. What the fuck, America, you need this spelled out in 50 foot high flaming letters of toxic nuclear waste before you get it?????”

  43. Blue

Trading in the disgusting & incompetent for the crazy & incompetent. Of course there is always Johnson where you can get ignorant & incompetent.

  44. i think the release of the Wall Street Speech Notes — help Clinton with reluctant Republicans.   And although clearly these were not conversations she wanted to have as part of the campaign – there is no new information.

  45. Gosh so many people have said they will leave if Clinton is elected.  I hope they do

  46. Hillary, there could not be a more perfect time to help the USA get rid of some of its rubbish.  Just a short mention that you are concerned with the poor judgment of those Senators and Congressmen and women chose the Trump without vetting him at all……..then the dnc should come  out swinging with all of the names that endorsed trump………they are on the  ropes and its not rope-a-doping…….throw that upper cut and get an all dem government ….and hopefully change a few bad laws that are out there….with the new judges that hillary will have the opportunity to elect of the next 4 years…I see this all can happen no?

Hillary should not just sit on her hands and run out the clock…..we need a full court press……Now

  47.  “Obviously, I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago — I was younger, less mature and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”  Maroon

Ok so he was 60   Mr. C and I will be laughing all day

When you lose Hugh Hewitt you are really done.

  48. There is no parity to Bill Clinton’s (who is NOT running for prez) affairs and trump breaking several laws…remember he can not only grab a woman, but also shoot her in the street?  Treating woman as chattel, goes back to slavery.   Women should be punished for an abortion?  Fat, dogs, phony body parts, period shaming, etc. demeaning in every way.   He is running for the presidency, not secretary of commerce.  The repugs never vetted him…remember these are the old tea party, the birthers, the alt right.  Roger Ailes advises him…the chin in the WH?  I hope this wakes-up some humans, but the rest?  anyone voting for trump is a deplorable.

  49. Hugh Hewitt calling for Trump Withdrawal:

Hurricane Matthew wasn’t bad enough?  Now we are being bombed by low flying pigs and a severe cold snap in Hades.

  50. I think this is the excuse it just came sooner than the bad debate performance coming on Sunday.  His poll numbers are so bad he is endangering the Republican candidates down ballot.  I think this will end the condom’s claim she can deliver Republican women.  She is covered in trumpstink.

    from 538
And my father, at times, I would say, was not a creepy old man, but a… sexy senior citizen. But I never once heard anything remotely close to these comments [from him]. Not once. And I think we’d be giving Trump a pass if we said that “men of a certain era” speak this way. If you’re a decent human being, it’s not something that you say.

  51. Hello world!!! Trump is a narcissistic misogynist pig! He has been since day one of his campaign and all of a sudden people are talking about it as if they never knew! WTF!?!?

Craig: I don’t think Trump stepping down or the GOP taking him out will be good because the cure would be just as bad as the disease! Better for DT & the GOP to be taken down during the election! Will perhaps start a chain reaction leading to an end of the GOP stranglehold on the Legislature. As for the Electoral College: It’s a terrible system and incomprehensible to most people!

KGC: Can’t believe that lame apology! “humbled” by people who support him? What a crock! I don’t think he can even spell the word. It’s ridiculous for his speech writers to even put that word in his statement! There is absolutely nothing about the man that says humble and nothing will ever humble that womanizing piece of crap!

Renee: Love the Trumpocalypse Now quote LOL!

Thought this was a good wrap up to the wrap up of the Trumpalooza Presidential campaign:

How Andy Griffith And Elia Kazan Predicted Donald Trump’s Rise (And Fall?) Way Back In 1957’s ‘A Face In The Crowd’

    http://deadline.com/2016/10/andy-griffith-elia-kazan-donald-trump-1201833245/

    (…)

“Television and the phoniness of reality shows fueled Trump’s improbable rise, and the fact that nothing is ever erased anymore, and everything is on tape somewhere, could signal his demise. It has been predicted many times by pundits, but again as he said he could probably murder someone and it wouldn’t make a difference.”

    (…)

“Time has been much kinder. A Face In The Crowd , as well as Bullworth, and of course Network, for that matter are all now considered to be way ahead of their time. All  are well worth discovering now as movies that had their finger on the pulse of the bizarre future we are now inhabiting. Sometimes it takes a trip to the past to figure out just how far we haven’t come.”

Jamie: I think you’re right, but “50 foot high flaming letters of toxic nuclear waste” might not even do the trick. As the last line of the article above indicates…we haven’t learned anything! There will always be sheep willing to be led to the slaughter. But, she says hopefully, there are enough intelligent people who take the time to read facts and do their research to find the truth to see through someone who is completely unqualified to be President. There is only one person running who is qualified so I think saner minds will prevail!

Death toll in Haiti still climbing. Hope Matthew goes out to sea without any further loss of life.

  52. …….should not have said that Hillary could elect to the scotus……but she sure as hell can appoint them……let er rip …..and if were her…..i would have a little bit of fun with the so called media that wanted the trump so bad…that they sold their souls the the god…………Jamie….in aint cold or hot in hell….just right, but dont tell anyone….they will all want to go there…..and we dont want to over crowd the place do we?….later

going to the park…nice day to dedicate my ti chi and chi gong exercises to those in Haiti so sad this happened again so soon…..

Our ability to feel emotions and empathize…..is what keep us connected to them…all people, the universe and ourselves………

  53. The R’s are stuck with Trump. Could they dump him? Probably, but there would be a court fight and a continued campaign by Trump that would be even worse if possible than the current situation. I don’t see any likeness to any episode of the West Wing. but sure as hell resembles the Walking Dead.

  54. WAPO: New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte says she is dropping her support for Donald Trump and plans to write in vice presidential running mate Mike Pence’s name for president. … Donald Trump says he will not quit the presidential race. The Republican presidential nominee told The Washington Post on Saturday morning, “I’d never withdraw. I’ve never withdrawn in my life.”He also told The Wall Street Journal there was “zero chance I’ll quit.” The comments come as a growing number of Republican officeholders call on Trump to leave the race.

  55. Out of this entire fiasco the most deserving casualty will be Paul Ryan. Seldom have I seen such a gutless wonder, and he is now on display for the entire world to see. In almost every way he is equally as disgusting as Trump. Twisting slowly in the wind is an apt description of Ryan.

  56. Craig,

There it is. Trump won’t go quietly. Even if the GOP wanted to get rid of him they can’t.

  57. Trump is a scumbag, and Pence is a liar. Kelly  Ayotte is  going to take a principled stand and vote for Pence. Thata’ way Kelley show us what your made of. Bit late in the game for that.

  58. By election day only Guiliani and Christie will still be with him    Guess that Roger Ailes strategy isn’t working out so well

Since he and his pollster only acknowledge phony on-line polls – the fact that he is tanking republican senatorial candidates will be lost on him but for the future The Condom and Shaun Spicer should never get another Republican dollar.

  59. The Republican Party has failed the test of history by nominating a revolting bigot as their nominee!

Senator Jeff Flake and a very small number of Republicans have stood up to Trump.

  60. last night?  Faux News was like ailes never left…denial.  Today, just witnessed a young repug woman, crying about trump.   In tears, she is not having any of trump.

the vp debate must have also messed with his head…no.2 becomes no. 1.  If he thinks this is pressure now?  He is doubling down as I predicted.  trump will call upon his deplorables to riot and tear it up…that is coming next.   The Pool-pah continues.

  61. “Why didn’t this come out during the primaries?”

…because we’re being manipulated by Democrats who wanted an easily-defeated Trump as GOP nominee, obviously.

  62. Craig: “I’d never withdraw. I’ve never withdrawn in my life.” What the hell does he think filing bankruptcy is LOL!

  63. Comdolences, BiD, that the leaked Clinton transrcipts aren’t as damning as you wish they were.  You got what you asked for, though.

  64. So lost in all this is the fact that NBC had the tape but had decided to hold it until after the debate WTF

  65. now on faux news…wikileaks from the drained, assange…it looks like they are really kicking the rag doll of a story…trying to bring it to life.

  66. Breaking news….Hillary has a private and public persona…maybe even a political persona?  Men have them, too, faux news.

  67. That’s a matter of opinion.  The transcripts tell me exactly who I believe Hillary to be (a representative of and for the 1%), but Dems don’t care for some reason.  I guess they are on the same side as the Repugz.

Jamie – With Hillary you get incompetence & corruption.

At least Jill Stein knows what’s she stands for and why…and can be honest about it.

Its been a weird season & it ain’t over yet.

  68. “So lost in all this is the fact that NBC had the tape but had decided to hold it until after the debate WTF”

-after the upcoming town-hall debate.  Someone has been holding it, though.  We already knew Trump is a pig, the GOP nominated him anyway.  Dissolve the Republican Party.

  69. “At least Jill Stein knows what’s she stands for and why…and can be honest about it.”

There’s are few things more American than a protest vote, despite what some may assert, so rock ‘n’ roll.

  70. keep digging your tunnel out of the banana republic embassy, assange…vid darling of the green party convention.  stein only surrounds herself with the finest.

  71. oh dear, just spotted the naked cowboy in front of trump tower…he is a trump supporter with the name emblazoned on the butt of his underwear…another phony…he really isn’t naked or a cowboy.

  72. I have a very good friend who is a jeweler.   While attending a craft fair she was doing a couple weeks ago, she told me she was so sure Hillary was going to win the presidency that she had already booked a flight to D.C. for January 19th…   she’ll be staying with her daughter who is attending Georgetown University.  Hey, Gigi…  I high fived you when you told me that…  now you’re looking like a frickin’ genius!

  73. Reporting from the high ground on the northeast side of Columbia.

While it is still quite breezy, there has been no measurable rain in the past 2-hours. That gauge shows an accumulation of 5.28 inches since yesterday. I was surprised to find the morning newspaper safely lodged in its place on the mailbox post. I must send a well done to those responsible. The WSJ didn’t make it–not surprised, it is printed in Charlotte.

All our trees in the habitat seem to be intact; same for the ones in our neighbors’ yards. We are very fortunate indeed. There have been no power burps at my house although the local teevee reported well over 100k customers having lost service from our provider. Internet and satellite have been faultless.

I think the report will be much more grim from our coastal areas. It probably won’t be until quite late today or sometime tomorrow before we have a reasonably accurate inventory of losses by community. I have a suitable mantra for coping during today’s uncertainties. I think I will exercise it in the presence of our family Buddha. Peace

  74. Matthew wreaking havoc on N & S Carolina. It diminished to cat 2 then 1, but since it actually came ashore it did a lot of damage. Latest info says hundreds of roads are flooded. Hope everyone in the area hunkers down and lets the flooding subside before venturing out.

  75. Just came back from the park, lots of action going on….some of the kids that i have snowball fights with in the winter where there….looks like im gonna have a rough time of it this winter…..cpl of them are my size and a little bigger…..

….would like to share a little something: I wasnt too happy with my balance while doing my ti chi…..so afterward i did some exercises that will help out quite nicely……If you are having trouble, or are a little bit off balance….Craig, specially your dad and anyone that is of advanced age……do this to keep form falling or anything:

Take some time to walk in figure 8s……and or walking heel to toe…..this will co-ordinate the mind and the body…..when we lose this ability, it is called proprioception…this is when the mind body arent shaking hands very well……we human apes need to move around most of the day……later

Hey Spidey….what did you bring back for me?…

  76. From Twitter:

A source close to the Trump camp told me Pence and his team are “absolutely apoplectic”, “melting down” and “inconsolable”. – Philip Rucker

  77. Favorite tweet of the day from Candace L.:  “GOP Conundrum- deciding if a theocratic woman hating homophobe is better than a racist misogynistic xenophobe”

  78. Best wishes to people in all areas affected by the storm!!!

    538 chances of winning Florida

    Hillary 69%

    Don 31%

  79. 538 chance of winning

    North Carolina.

    Hillary 64.1%

    Oregon

Hillary 96.3% No wonder I get so many positive reactions while campaigning for Hillary.  Yesterday afternoon I noticed some very angry reactions from Trump supporters.  I couldn’t figure out why until I came home and turned on the news.

  80. If someone wrote a screenplay based on this election, nobody would believe it…

  81. McCain will not vote for Trump…

I wonder how many GOP candidates who won’t vote for Don will lose because Trump fanatics will turn on them…

  82. “No nation has ever receded from the brink”

Rome did a couple of times after his hands were cut off.

  83. The powers-that-be control our election already.  The Russians showed up too late for the party.  They have no power over the outcome.

It is interesting that they held the Trump tape to release at the same time the new Clinton info was released.  Media manipulating things, as well.

If third parties can get at least 5% of the vote it’ll help for the next cycle.

Why don’t people care about Clinton’s Wall Street ties, Uranium One, private email server to avoid the FOIA, bullying of Bill’s victims, collusion with the DNC to push Beenie out because her ideas weren’t resonating with voters, etc.?  Heads in the sand?

Poor Bernie has his head in the sand, as he stumps for Clinton.  He’s going to do his best to hold her to the platform to which she agreed to get him to endorse her.  She’s a liar.  Her constituency is the 1%.

Anyone who believes in Hillary is a fool. She’ll lie to you & break your heart.

  84. Oh, well.  SNL will be interesting tonight.  Think I’ll skip the Sunday shows & debate. It was a done deal from the get-go.

  85. Were I to be ipso facto supporting Trump I’d be a bit more circumspect about calling anyone else a fool.

  86. Just got to Orlando, not as much debris or fallen trees as I expected. Dad and Toby in fine shape. We’ve got some yard and pool cleanup to do, but I’ve see far worse.

  87. Sturge, you da man.  Glad you didn’t get blown away.

My MIL says there’s more bad trump stuff out there. Don’t know how she hears these things but she’s right occasionally.  Hope this is one of those occasions.

  88. Jamie, I’m with you, I will have a real drink to toast the new President Elect Clinton on Nov 8th.

Amazing times. HRC is a very kind person and I think her empathy and brains will do this country a lot of good. I hope her feet are held to the fire. I mean by rational people not the right wing loon that’s here and all the others.. I sure hope the Senate is controlled by Dems ..

  89. Today I gave out over 50 stickers for people to wear in Portland.  I only gave them to people who positively mentioned my sticker…
