  1. “the big night when Democrats in 14 states across America will decide whether the Democratic nominee should be an old man or an even older man.”

    Trevor Noah last night

  2. So my take is that 5 states last night are particularly noteworthy. First on the list is Virginia – wide raging electorate, trending blue.  Massachusetts/Maine (I know, it’s 2) – Bernie and Liz’s home/backyard, white as the driven snow. Texas – large voting base of Hispanic voters and shitkickers.  North Carolina – good mix of black voters, college kids and hillbillies.  And finally – California – LaLa land, strong liberal base, Bernie land by all accounts coming into Tuesday – with 75% in Bernie’s up by 8 points.  That is waaaay underperforming for Bernie.  At this point with assigned delegates Joe is up by 80 going into the next couple of Minisuper Tuesdays. Bernie’s finger is going to be working overtime and his voice is going to become intolerable (as if that horse hasn’t already left the barn).

  3. OMG! Joe won TX & I’m not still dreaming!
Reader’s Digest version of my overnight: Tiptoe sent me a cardboard bookmark, delivered to a closed laptop at my grandma’s house, as well as an Amazon bag on the porch which was filled with 574 pieces of chocolate. Caucusing for Bloomberg, and accidentally calling him Goldwater. Trying to finish food deliveries from a concession stand and being told to get in line by Hillary Clinton, when I was actually working there & just needed 2 boxes of popcorn (two flavors: wild or binary).

    Warren or Klobuchar?

  4. BiD. Stacey would be a fresher face and she offers a broader (in more than one way considering her height & weight) background being born in Wisconsin, educated in Miss. Ga & Texas, Yale law school and minority leader of GA State House of Rep.  plus she’s been busy this year with her FairFight  travelling all over country on voting rights issues.

  5. bernie will soon make a stunning pick for vp.   it wont work but he will make it just the same .

  6. and imagine stacey debating mike pence… just the optics would be worth it

(or nikki haley for that matter)

lizzie thought enough of her to spend a lot of time and energy helping in her GA gov. campaign

  7. it will be an attempt to answer the question, “What if the old feller has another heart attack?”

  8. https://www.cnn.com/business/live-news/stock-market-news-today-030420/index.html
    Take that, Trump! (And, Bernie.)
I’ve only heard Abrams speak once, recently.  Maybe on Seth Myers’ show.  She was smart and engaging.    I guess we do need Warren and Klobuchar in the Senate.     Just saw a pic of Biden and Mayor Pete, though.   It’s that bro-love like between Obama and Joe.   I’m sure he’ll have a place in the cabinet, as will Beto, if not VP.       Craig said that Kamala didn’t play well with women of color, if I recall, so maybe Abrams.

  9. Well, it won’t be AOC because she’s only 30.  Warren is a capitalist.   The only one I can think of is Tulsi-why-is-she-still-in-the-race-and-who-is-funding-her-Gabbard.     Who do you mean, Sturg?

  10. i have no answer, only the question.  Elect a 78 yr old who’s just had a heart attack?  That’s Nutso Land.

  11. I don’t think Yang would sign on with Bernie; it would pigeonhole him for a future run.    If all of the also-rans stump for Joe in the remaining states, Bernie might be toast.    His heart issues give him an easy out and he can remind his folks that a vote for Joe is a vote against Trump.   The youngsters won’t show up, but he should at least promote Joe.

  12. I feel so relieved this morning seeing the results.  Thank you to the African-Americans of South Carolina.  And, yes, thank you Liz for taking out Bloomberg.

It’s raining here today. Rick and I will be imbibing in the pool and hot tub.

  13. Tornado gallery in Lubbock is going to erect a building which will cover the area of Peggy Chapman’s Garden, Joe Don the fig, and the Mustang Sally Bass Player’s Stone.
    All things must pass
    Nothing gold can stay.

  14. Liz says she’s staying in.  I think she’ll try to wait out Bloomberg…but he’s gone soon.  He can leave with a win from American Samoa under his belt.              pogo -TX isn’t just Hispanics and “shitkickers.”    My area  is primarily Indian, plus a good dose of Vietnamese and Korean.  Those who are originally from India run for local offices.   Many folks from California moved up tiotoe’s way.   There do seem to be more “shitkickers” over by Ft. Worth.  It’s a big place.  We’ve got a little bit of everything.

  15. YES!  Jamie, he’s endorsed Joe.  That means Biden will have plenty of money going forward.

  16. hopefully, Bloomberg continues making anti-trump ads by way of a PAC that doesn’t/can’t be in cahoots with a candidate’s campaign.  he can also (if he hasn’t been doing so all along) send some dark money pro-joe pacs way.

  17. and he endorsed Biden: : “I’ve always believed that defeating Donald Trump starts with uniting behind the candidate with the best shot to do it. After yesterday’s vote, it is clear that candidate is my friend and a great American, Joe Biden.”

  18. Bloomberg will also help fund Democratic Senators up for re-election… and others down the ballot.

  19. surprised this got by the Barr bar on all things IMpotus   won’t like

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/feds-mystery-witness-will-implicate-putins-chef-in-election-interference/ar-BB10IrIk?ocid=spartanntp

U.S. prosecutors say they have a witness who will directly implicate a Russian businessman known as “Putin’s chef” in schemes to carry out election interference overseas.
The mystery witness is prepared to testify at a criminal trial set to open in Washington next month in a case special counsel Robert Mueller brought accusing three Russian companies and 13 Russian individuals of meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, a prosecutor declared at a recent court hearing.

  20. Good news about MIke.

BiD, I didn’t mean to suggest that TX is only Hispanics and shitkickers, but it has its share of both.  My point is that considering the Hispanic population in TX, Bernie should have won handily there if that is one of his core demographics.  I mentioned shitkickers because that group is going to figure in with the remaining deep south and plains states, and even up there in the upper plains.  The TX results with those demos make it look to me like Bernie’s path to the nomination is very narrow at best.  And with Liz staying in (at least for now) that narrows his path even further.

Bink, you still have a candidate to promote.  Congratulations.

  21. from above link:

Conway confirmed the donation to New York Magazine’s Olivia Nuzzi, telling her he donated “because the nation can’t afford four more years with a megalomaniacal moron in the White House.”

  22. Patd

Since this latest infection seems to be at least tentatively linked to human beings dining on the innocent, endangered Pangolin.  Covid-19 may need to renamed Mother Nature’s Revenge.

  23. Oh, you know who Joe could pick for VP? Michelle Obama
Joe picks Barak for SCOTUS when it’s time

  24. Trying my best to look at the numbers from yesterday to see where Bernie stands relative to 2016 and it is difficult at best.  Open and closed caucuses have become primaries and there were effectively 6 candidates (I am not including Tulsi because she didn’t really figure in outside of American Samoa) who were on the ballots.  Of the ST contests Bernie either lost votes or a share of the vote in 10 of the 13 contests although that may be a bit misleading since in 2016 there were only 2 candidates to share the votes.   With 87% of the votes reported, Bernie has 33% of the votes cast and an 8.7% lead over Joe with 24% of the vote and 179 pledged delegates have been awarded to this point with Bernie getting 61% of those delegates. I am a little confused.

  25. Look at the delegates Amy, Pete & Mike will ask to go to Joe.
Who knew pangolin scales were used in Chinese medicine.  Jeez.   Medicine comes from plants, not animals.

  26. Y’allitics show has a podcast.  The scan code on the TV takes you to the podcast.   And, yeah, why can’t we vote on our phones?    Couldn’t we have a scan code on our voter ID card, log in to get a  one-time PIN, and,  vote securely by phone?
YANG on The View tomorrow to make an announcement.   ???

  27. Trump definitely has medical issues, despite was his personal doc said in 2016. Vascular dementia explains his behavior.   Well, it exacerbates his ungodly personality.

  28. trump doesn’t sleep, drinks diet soda loaded with poison, eats garbage food, and sprays himself down with orange lacquer 3x a week, of course his brain is compromised

  29. Bink, yes she did, and she is to be commended for that. Oh, and good summary of SFB’s toxic exposure.

  30. I’ll do as much for Biden as he has done to provide access to abortion for women who need financial assistance

  31. I will say this Joe surrounds himself with some tough women Look at Jill Biden block while Symone Sanders tackles the protestor last night.

  32. The RCP betting odds went to 82.6 Biden v, 18.4 Bernie. Third place at 4.4 – Clinton.  I wouldn’t put my money there.

  33. ”Humiliating loss in Mass [for Liz]”

What’s so humiliating about not winning over an electorate full of misogynistic dolts?  She ran a good campaign, has a good message, and was dismissed in favor of a guy who can’t do math and a guy who can’t do words.

…and yes, a lot of the misogyny was from other women, go figure.

  34. …a guy who can’t even be bothered to attempt to do math!  That’s who beat Liz.

You’re fine, Liz- thank you for running and using your voice to eloquently address important issues.

  35. Had a good wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-and-watch-TV marathon last night
Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock, Mannix, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Highway Patrol with Broderick Crawford, and polished it off with A brace of  “Dragnet 1970”.

  36. The anti-dairy mafia is not helping the cause.  Look, I only drink non-dairy milk. I get it, but those idiots did the same thing to Bernie a few weeks ago.  It’s not your moment, kids.   Also,  if the vegans can rush the stage,  what happens if someone who wants to hurt a candidate has easy access like that?    Not good.   Let it be a lesson that folks need to be screened when coming into a venue, and, that candidates are protected at this point in the race.     Security for 20 would’ve been difficult but we are, effectively, down to two guys.

  37. I don’t think there is anything for Liz to be ashamed of or to be humiliated by. For whatever reason, she didn’t resonate with enough voters. So be it. She’s still got at least 2 votes here in the Arizona primary. I don’t think those votes are wasted.
As we all know, it’s going to take more than just one individual as president to fix what’s been broken. Yeah, whomever becomes president can sign a bunch of executive orders to reverse a bunch of policy. But it’s going to take a whole cabinet to rebuild diplomacy around the world and domestic programs here at home. Lots of folks who aren’t going to be president are going to be part of that process.
And lest we forget, it’s going to take Democratic majorities in the House and Senate to give any useful legislation any kind of chance. As important as it is to get the White House, it’s equally if not more important to oust the GOP majority in the Senate.
It ain’t just one guy or gal.

  38. i mean, no one wants to say it but, the Dem frontrunners look like could keel over. any minute, then guess who’s the front-runner!

  39. ok, well i’m in the first stage of grief right now (denial), so look forward to stage 2, “anger”, tomorrow!  Should make for an entertaining thread.

  40. Sorry but face it Liz just ain’t that good at politics. For what ever god awful reason she just kept doubling down on Bernie’s version of Medicare for all. She tried to “out Bernie”  Bernie and there are only so many slots for nut cases.
If she had stuck with her reform agenda and pushed Bernie hard, then drove the knife in when he had his heart attack we would be arguing  Warren/ Biden today. But she doesn’t have a killer political instinct and she let Bernie get up.
Btw, her tough antibanking program would have played in the African American community against Biden. But first she needed to kill off Bernie, She didn’t so she is gone.

  41. Happens, Bink, not every small state politician is a Bill Clinton and running for president definitely moves you into the big leagues.
    Jack

  42. Most of what Obama said about Bernie is subtlety uncomplimentary.  *Bernie really believes what Bernie believes.*   Ha!    Bernie is clearly grasping at straws to get the black vote, but he can’t even get out the youth vote he promised.     Suck on that, Pooh-tin.

  43. Bink – I think Warren would’ve made an amazing POTUS.  I know that there is something important she can do without being CIC.

  44. More young people voted for Obama than McCain but there was no youth vote surge.  There was not an increase in the
    Number of 18 -25 voters

  45. The cable shows are having the time of their lives as this thing has changed the world so quickly. This Bernie disdain makes me feel hopeless, as there will never be a chance like this to get past the status quo, and Tuesday proved that. Biden. Never attacked the horrid credit card companies of Delaware and South Dakota who kill the budgets of lower income people. Voted and cheer-led Bush’s Iraq invasion, then, when that became unpopular, he and Hillary said they regretted their vote. You know where Bernie stood and stands on these issues. Oh, then there’s this “Bernie can’t get anything done”. And, “Bernie is making false promises because “we” cannot afford tuition forgiveness and free college and free daycare…”. But damn straight next time some bogus war is started somewhere, well, open the treasury vaults and let’s go kill  a million or so people!” If the Savings and Loans mess up, bail them out! If the carmakers’ sales slip, slide a trillion their way. This is just venting, as I will gladly vote for Biden if he runs against Trump. Now, VP possibilities for Biden. I will be happy with any of the usual suspects, except Kamala Harris. We need the USA to move away from prison-packing judges and supporters of mass incarcerations. The USA’s general policies of turning incarcerations into private business just leads to corrupt judges over-sentencing. This thing is how and why we all know the name, Kamala Harris.

  46. OK this is my one ride or die tweet about this: Warren is the best candidate for President by far and it’s really fucking depressing to live in a country that (for 2 elections in a row) is falling apart bc men are threatened by women who are smarter than them.
    Mikel Jollett, twitter

  47. I also grieve for Warren.

She needed Rep James Clyburn’s advice: people vote for emotions, not programs, and the emotion most wanted in these contests was love.

Now, back to slogan  smithing :
What would Jesus Grab ? goes with Who Would Jesus Cage ?
Shirt Front : Golf, Taxes, Marriage ;  Shirt Back : How (Who) Would Jesus Cheat ?
Shirt Front : 2d Amendment Text ; Shirt Back : Draft The Guns

  48. What happens if Bloomberg does bankroll anti-Bernie ads…and then Warren goes after a the billionaire trying to jack the election?    I really don’t think Warren will endorse Bernie, though.  Quite frankly, voting for her was the best I’ve ever felt voting for a candidate.     Joe (or Bernie) will need her help to fix problems in some capacity, in the Senate or the cabinet.

  49. Bernie’s Wisconsin chair is on the tube with Joy Reed right now and is trying to nicely not answer the questions Joy is asking him.  It is a tour de force in deflection. He’s trying to say that M4A and Green new deal are the issues that voters care about – Joy rightly pointed out that he didn’t win on those issues – and he blamed it on having multiple candidates in the race.  Give me a break.  That’s not even straight face stuff.

  50. Sessions is likely going to lose the runoff in AL unless I have Alabama all wrong in my absence. He had a big win in Huntsville and mild wins in Montgomery and Tuscaloosa (morons) and was crushed in Birmingham and Mobile.  The Mobile votes were for Bradley Byrne, who didn’t make the runoff.  I think Sessions is a fucking idiot, but I’d like to see him beat Tommy Tuberville – ex Auburn head football coach (Boo, hiss) – to piss SFB off if for no other reason.

  51. if you get sucked into a transdimensional wormhole it’s because i mixed two different barbecue sauce brands, sorry

  52. I was just reading about a – wrap your mind around this – Vegan Barbeque Ax Throwing restaurant in LA – Mo’s House of Ax.  Bink, add a little Worcestershire, maple syrup and hot sauce (your favorite will be fine) and call it your own.

  53.  Biden not even as good a candidate as Hillary.    This is not going to end well

  54. We have an axe-throwing place down the road.  I’ve been, but have not thrown.   Haven’t eaten meat in a decade, but I have BBQ sauce in the fridge.

  55. Watching Bernie refuse to answer Rachel’s questions. Spinmeister. Refuses to admit reality.

  56. God, Bernie’s so full of bullshit. I hope the DNC changes its rules to insure that only democrats get to run for the democratic nomination.

  57. i share KGC’s concern regarding Joe’s electability

…sure hope you guys are right, you weren’t last time.

  58. I still think Warren is best, but between Joe & Bernie, it’s Joe who will get the turnout.     Coronavirus will be everywhere soon.  I think this is the part where C’Bob would tell everyone to fasten their chinstraps.   Will the virus have other ideas about the best nominee?

  59. Maybe COVID-19 will take out all the antique candidates, leaving rippers with an ad hoc race between Medi-Tsar mike, turd cruz, marcopolio, U.N. nikki, kasick, runt pol, and Willard “Disharmony” Rmoney.

  60. We were watching Cuomo chat with AOC. They certainly don’t make socialist women like they did in the ’60s.  She looks like a Betty Boop cartoon, only with straight hair. Very decorative. Also, she’s kind of an dark, English-speaking Eva Peron – for those who remember the real thing.

  61. No, Mr Bink.

We’d come to blows. tweetie would die of broken bottles. My Sweetie would be humiliated, being the wife of a low-down killer, who snuffed a widely disrespected tv head in a bar room brawl. (Y’know the encomia, the weepin’ and wailin,’ not to mention the gushing mini-bios filled with the early portents of tweetie greatness, and the evil darkness that lurked and festered in the cruel heart of ultra-nasty Xr. Oh the horror; oh the humanity ! There’d be all sorts of presuming, driveling, speculating, and false inferring over the untimely [too late] death of the late snidely ‘journalist’ and bully, who smeared our beloved Mr Crawford.) A humiliated Sweetie would be too much for me to bear, for it would be unjust service to she who so faithfully and arduously served me these three dozen years and four months. I’d feel so responsible and low-down about her that I’d have to unleash my superpowers and erase the memories of everyone who’d read or heard that I’d killed matthewz in a lurid bar brawl. To accomplish that erasure, I’d have to decapitate every person outside of Kerguelen Island. Alas, I am too old, and I tire too easily now to accomplish that tremendous and hideous task. For, by the time I bumped off the first b!ll!on people, there’d be an extra two b!ll!on people added to the world, like the heads of Argus, you see. Despite all my cunning, wide experience, and back alley erudition, I could never un-humiliate Sweetie after killing that bossy old broadcast bird. Therefore, I shall forever have to forego slumming into the dive that tweetie befouls. (befowls ?)

And further therefore, I should get the Nobel Peace Prize golden head for not decapitating everyone outside of Kerguelen Island. I’m saving 7.45 B!ll!on precious, but mostly redundant, lives, and so I deserve a little respect ’round about the place here. In my acceptance speech, I’ll mention Mom, The Trail, Mr Bink, and most of all my lovely and patient Sweetie. Come to think on it, she’s the one who prolly deserves Nobel’s head. But, I’ll take that ‘cuz it’s tradition : it’s a man’s world*, and we’re all selfish as hell.

[Further Mr Xrepublican saith not; for he has already gotten himself into a bushel of trouble, the silly old coot.]

  62. Old Snakehead James Carville has aged a bit since last cycle when he was on TV every day and thrice on Sunday.  Last week his lament was the state of confusion the Democratic Party was in, with all the brickbats flying.  I must watch the next time he appears somewhere to get his take on the mighty changes of the past 96 hours.  I Have not seen his wife on TV forever.

  63. Mr Dexter,

In regards to your report on the missing mary matalin, you should consider yourself a lucky man.
Wikipedia . . . in March 2018, she told reporter Nicholas Ballasy that President Donald Trump is “a great overall president, like, he did what he said he was going to do and he is doing things he never imagined he would have to, so that’s really hard to do with a staff that was not quite seasoned – it’s just sheer force of will and force of personality. I think he’s doing great. He’s doing really great. I can die happy now. I was really worried about it.”
