  1. BiD, thanks for the nypost link exposing the loser guy’s “tell” as they say in poker, a sign of vulnerability to cash in on.

the pig squeals when it hurts most – in this case, his vanity:

“Also, they purposely show the absolutely worst pictures of me, especially the big ‘orange’ one with my chin pulled way back.”

another case of frenemies at odds.

  2. suggestion for any debate that the loser chickens out on display on stage his empty chair with this pic or a standing ife size cardboard copy (or punch able shmoo version) of it:

  3. He really knows how to get under Trump’s skin…
“loser” and “coward” hurt Pumpkin Head the most:
    Chris Christie (@GovChristie)
Surprise, surprise… the guy who is out on bail from four jurisdictions and can’t defend his reprehensible conduct, is running scared and hiding from the debate stage. Trump – certified loser, verified coward.

  4. could this be the fine print in all those atty retainment contracts which have gone unpaid: he didn’t want [lawyer] to receive ‘a dime’ unless he succeeded?

whole quote from Trump’s refusal to pay Rudy Giuliani worse then we thought: report (msn.com)

People close to the former mayor argue he was not working strictly on lawsuits, but also on research and efforts to keep state legislatures from certifying results Mr. Giuliani insisted were false. But Mr. Trump told aides he didn’t want Mr. Giuliani’s to receive ‘a dime’ unless he succeeded. Some of Mr. Giuliani’s expenses were eventually paid, but only after Mr. Trump personally approved the money.

pogo, couldn’t the retainer’s condition of succeeding in “efforts to keep state legislatures from certifying results” also be evidence of the cowardly loser’s criminal intent to corruptly obstruct, influence or impede an official proceeding?

  5. Conservative ex-US Judge Luttig and Harvard liberal Laurence Tribe teamed up on this, that’ll get it some media play:

  6. Nice to see our good friend the Oregon Democrat hopping onto the trail last evening. I hope we’ll see you again. Your thoughts are always wise and wonderful.

Maybe someone can put a mannequin on the debate podium like they used to do when Imus called in sick at the last minute.

At the Christmas party one year somebody gave our boss a mug that read I was all out of sick days so I called in dead.

  7. Oncet I had a gubmint office job for about 9 months between real jobs (piano mongering) and after I had used all my sick days, and riffled thru most of any unpaid leave days, I discovered that I’d used about every excuse known to man, so one day I finally just called in and told them I was going fishing.  Wasn’t long after that I signed on with Joe Savage the Snake Man, and life returned to normal.

  8. I gained a semi-valuable skill from that job.   There were 9 desks in the room with a trash can at each desk.   It was the records division for all personnel on an air base.  There were two of us with this particularl duty:  I had the second half of the alphabet and Shirley had the first half, and each morning we would go to the alphabetical cubby holes and take any papers appearing under the letters and place them on our  desk.  Then we’d go to the filing cabinets which filled the width of the back wall and remove whatever files had new papers to go into them and stack them on our desk. Then, one at a time, we’d take each file, tear out the old paper, and in with the new. As time wore on, instead of throwing the single papers into my trash can I would save a pile of balled up pages, and then when there was a big pile, I’d toss them one at a time at different desks around the room.  I thus became quite adroit at the art of tossing balled up notebook paper into trash cans.  It’s come in handy in several bars.

  9. craig,

if they (whoever has ballot composing authority in each state) can’t back up their decision to disqualify him based on the part of the amendment’s phrase you posted, surely they can cite his infamous tweets of comforting the insurrectionists as they are in midst of rioting and his promised offers of pardon to them and apply the other part that reads  “or given aid or comfort” to support denying him ballot placement.

  10. OD, welcome back. we’ve missed you.

the trail IS a break from social media … it’s a breath of fresh unpolluted air most times.

  11. good news about the F-16s okay to Ukraine, but dampened by the talk of pilot training on them to take so long.  is it possible that already well-trained F-16 retired pilots (but not u.s. citizens) could temporarily join the Ukrainian international legion and fly missions until the others are fully trained?   would such volunteers have to be approved by us due to the sensitive equipment aboard?

US approval of F-16s brings new hope for Ukraine’s long fight | The Hill

    excerpt from https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-military/2023/08/18/ukraine-will-get-f-16-fighter-jets-from-dutch-danes-after-us-agrees/

A coalition of 11 Western countries — the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom — pledged in July to train Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16s.

  12. One cousin belongs to SAG, and one is a non-union actor.   Anyway, rumor has it that the strike should be settled around September 1st.   What of the other unions that were feeding off of the energy if writers/actors with a higher profile?   What will become of their fight for a more fair work life?

  13. Is that Mark Meadows on the bottom bunk?  He should do himself a favor and flip for a lighter sentence, or at least a private cell.

  14. The other guy I really don’t like (how can you pick a least favorite?) is Vivek.   He’s soooo  arrogant.  If SFB is a no-show at the debate, they can hammer him without him bloviating and name calling.    It’ll be easier to see just how awful ALL of the Repugs are without the orange dip stick.

  15. Dolly Parton Releases Emotional ‘Let It Be’ Cover With Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr (msn.com)

Dolly Parton didn’t just let this song be — and that turned out to be a good thing.
On Friday, the country music icon released a moving cover of the Beatles’ 1970 classic “Let It Be” in collaboration with the band’s two surviving members, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Rocker Peter Frampton and Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood were also part of the star-studded collaboration.
“Well, does it get any better than singing ‘Let It Be’ with Paul McCartney who wrote the song? Not only that, he played piano!” Parton said in a statement about the new release. “Well, it did get even better when Ringo Starr joined in on drums, Peter Frampton on guitar and Mick Fleetwood playing percussion.”
McCartney made his stamp of approval clear in a comment underneath the song on YouTube.
“Thanks Dolly for doing my song,” said the English singer-songwriter. “I love your version and am very pleased to be by your side on this one. Rock on !”
The track is part of Parton’s upcoming “Rockstar” album, which is slated to include nine original songs and a bevy of covers.

  16. https://newrepublic.com/post/175079/vivek-ramaswamy-wants-give-putin-whatever-wants-ukraine

“Ramaswamy is already under fire for his objectively terrible plan to let China invade Taiwan after 2028 if he were elected. Now, the presidential hopeful thinks that Russia should be allowed to keep the parts of Ukraine it currently occupies.”

“Ramaswamy said that U.S. involvement in Ukraine is strengthening the Russia–China military alliance—and the only way to break that alliance and bring Russia around to the American side is to give Vladimir Putin what he wants.”

“I would freeze the current lines of control, and that would leave parts of the Donbas region with Russia,” Ramaswamy explained. “I would also further make a commitment that NATO will not admit Ukraine to NATO. But there are even greater wins that I will get for the United States.”

“Ramaswamy seems to be under multiple false impressions with this diplomatic plan, the first being that the United States has the authority to simply give away parts of another sovereign nation. He also appears to believe that if he visits Moscow, he can single-handedly buddy up to Putin enough to convince the Russian leader to drop a highly advantageous military alliance.”

I, alone, can fix everything. Sound familiar? M’gawd he’s a horror show.

“Earlier this week, Ramaswamy proposed letting China take over Taiwan after 2028, which he believes is when the U.S. would build up its own supply of semiconductors. Taiwan produces about 60 percent of the global supply of semiconductors, which are microchips crucial to making all electronic devices.”

“Ramaswamy said he intends to dramatically up the firepower around Taiwan during his first term, to make clear to Beijing that they should “not mess” with the island until the U.S. has semiconductor independence. After that, China can do whatever it wants. It did not seem to occur to him that China would likely interpret these moves as acts of aggression and respond in kind.”

“But despite his only campaign points being battling “wokeness,” taking away rights, and, apparently, allowing authoritarian governments to do whatever they want, Ramaswamy is somehow rising in the polls.”

“So a recent personnel decision by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign is making quite a stir here in the Granite State: Representative Aidan Ankarberg, a Republican from Rochester, has been hired to promote Kennedy’s candidacy…”

Mmmm, maybe no Dem wants to work for crackpot Bobby?

    https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/chris-christie-trump-gop-primary-poll-b2393421.html

“Support is dropping for the anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist Robert F Kennedy Jr in the Democratic primary, polls show.”

“A poll by Quinnipiac University released on Wednesday revealed that Mr Kennedy is supported by 13 per cent of Democrats, a drop of 3.5 per cent compared to June.”

That doesn’t mean he won’t end up in the Republican ticket.

  18. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/08/19/desantis-trump-listless-vessels-00111971

“The Trump campaign and MAGA world on Saturday blasted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for remarks appearing to label some of the former president’s supporters “listless vessels.”

“The truth is, Trump supporters are patriots,” MAGA, Inc. spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. “DeSantis must immediately apologize for his disgraceful insult.”

That is literally the nicest thing he could’ve called MAGAts.

“In a response posted to X, DeSantis campaign press secretary Bryan Griffin said the governor’s comment was aimed at Trump and his congressional allies.”

RonDuh is a wuss. This was about all of SFB’s followers, not just the confessional crazies:

“A movement can’t be about the personality of one individual,” DeSantis said. “If all we are is listless vessels that’s just supposed to follow, you know, whatever happens to come down the pike on Truth Social every morning, that’s not going to be a durable movement.”

“Disney is continuing its fight against Ron DeSantis’ politics and policies in a new legal filing against the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), which oversees Disney World’s area of Florida. Disney alleges that DeSantis’ government organized the CFTOD to nullify contracts it had with a previous government organization, so it’s countersuing the government for breach of contract and asking a judge to enforce the contract. The company is seeking unspecified damages.”

“Just yesterday, Donald Trump called him that he was the apple of Putin’s eye. I have to tell you the truth: I don’t want to be the apple of Vladimir Putin’s eye,”…
“A Christie administration would stand up for our friends around the world and work with them,” he added.

  21. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/green-party-candidate-cornel-west-owes-half-million/story?id=102293692

“Philosopher and presidential Green Party candidate Cornel West currently owes more than half a million dollars between unpaid taxes and unpaid child support, according to tax records.”

“West told the radio show host “Charlamagne the God” that they were being used as a “distraction” from his presidential campaign, which has focused on ending poverty, mass incarceration and environmental degradation.”

Yeah, no I don’t think West is gonna be a spoiler, but I do wish he’d get out of the race and go back to philosophizing. But, I guess campaigning for office is a good grift. He had to know he’d never win the primary, let alone the general.
