As much as I’d like to see Joe Biden try to be magnanimous Bernie Sanders today bullying him makes me think Joe should just go ahead and slap him silly. Playing nice just looks weak.

Bernie thinks he’s going to force Biden to become a socialist for his support? What better way to re-elect Trump.

Now that we know what we knew, Sanders can’t get real, screw him and the pony he rode in on.

Enough with this whiny ‘oh we must be nice to his young people’. Grow up kids. You lost. That’s politics. Get to to the art of the possible or we’re all screwed.

Democratic voters have spoken, and they’re not done. They don’t want Bernie’s revolution, they want to beat Trump. And if you’re not down for that, don’t go away mad, just go away.

  1. Pretty much what I’ve been thinking about Bernie for the past four years.  Enough with the cranky old coot.  You can love the ideas without adoring him as the messenger from on high.

     

  2. Craig….   good rant.  I woke up this morning being willing to embrace Bernie and his supporters.  But Bernie has proven to me that he is an asshole.   Just go away… indeed!

  3. Yep RR, woke up the same way, and tried to stay calm after that press conference but as the afternoon wore on I just got pissed. If Biden has to win without Bernie’s college kids and nut job aging hippies, which is all he’s got left, he can do it.

  8. Oh c’mon kids, Biden has the chops to expand health care, college affordability and debt relief, assault climate change, everything Bernie promises but has never delivered in Congress, never could. Get real.

  10. My issue with Sanders remains that he and his supporters act for the mission and gospel of Bernie Sanders. Which, by and large often sounds phenomenal and truly ethical — But not entirely do-able. Or more so, there remains the question of how he’d be able to do everything. 
    He essentially throws a tantrum and blames everything else when he doesn’t win. It was a problem four years ago. It’s still a problem and it absolutely bleeds into a number of his supporters now not voting because they didn’t get their candidate. Tantrums everywhere!!

  11. And Vanilla, while I was willing until now to be gentle toward Bernie world let’s be real. They don’t have anywhere near the leverage they think they do. Important to remember Hillary lost by only 80k in 3 states and that wasn’t because she lost Berniacs. It was non college whites who just didn’t like her, and Joe is winning them. He really doesn’t need Bernie. This is a myth Dems must have Bernie’s youth vote to beat Trump. Sure, he’s been winning that age group but he’s not turning them out. They go party at his rallies and rave to rap groups but then don’t go vote. He drew 30,000 in one Michigan county and the next day lost it by 10pts. It’s a freaking joke.

  21. Italy has gone to “old folks on the ice floes”.  The scarcity of beds has forced them into triage.  Very simply, if there is a hope you can be treated and saved and aren’t so elderly it isn’t worth it, the bed goes to cancer, ill, and injury patients not to those with COVID-19.

    I definitely miss him too. I’ve actually been swimming the last few years through his work which has been an adventure. And a great way not to miss him. While I am nowhere near as funny or as smart as he was — I’m not leaving! I’ve actually been lurking for awhile. Greetings from New York, I still only have a reasonable amount of toilet paper and we’ve not yet been quarantined  🙂
    Blue! Can I send you some artwork? I’m pretty sure years ago you were supposed to get a t shirt I had done some work on and I don’t know if the person who was supposed to send it ever did. If they did, great — But otherwise please let me know…Actually either way.
    And Craig, I completely agree. Most of my extended group of friends are Bernie supporters. Most people assume I am. But  I’ve had real major issues with his campaigns (his supporters as well — both in action and inaction) and the after effects of them — Not excluding the daily explanation of socialism/communism. Every possible perspective. Every goddamn day. As though no one found Karl Marx their sophomore year and no one had a Trotskyist uncle. Didn’t everyone??

    NBA just Indefinitely suspended the season after a player on the Utah Jazz (Utah – Jazz – right … ) tested positive for COVID-19. Shit.

Renee, thanks.  I’m sure things will be fine.  (Just hope I don’t get exposed to CV – hospitals are great places to go to meet sick people- just kidding, I’m not a denier, just a realist – the number of known CV folks in NYC is barely higher than in WV – and WV doesn’t have any reported cases yet). 
     
    So glad anyone who wants a test can get one now – it’s got to be true, right?  After all SFB (fucking liar) said so. Well, apparently only 8 people wanted to be tested yesterday. (JFC – what a a goddamn idiot).

Even if they have a bazillion tests, are they distributed around the country?  Are there labs equipped to process all the tests?    Here’s another thing.  They will only be treating Covid-19 patients’ symptoms.  The test fixes nothing; it only tells docs that what they’re dealing with isn’t the flu.

The idea that of a million tests distributed by Monday and the lifting of restrictions on private lbs processing t tests, only 8 tests were given on Tuesday after a week of criticism for having a lack of tests and restrictions on who could process them with a backdrop of reports of exposures in 37 states is simply inconceivable.  Pardon my skepticism but I call bullshit.

    If you’re the friend or neighbor of a nurse obligated to go in, and have the capacity to babysit her kid when schools close, or feed her pup, that’s what you (generic you) can do to help your community. Drop off dinner for the hospital janitor (you don’t even have to go in.)

    After all we are all a community and need to do our part.  As I said at last nights neighborhood meeting. “There are two things we can do, wash our hands and check on our neighbors, we should be doing  both anyway”

    Jack, not doubting those numbers, but I’m generally hesitant to bank on much posted on Twitter; after all, it’s the “information” medium for our own Idiot in Chief and the platform for dissemination of most of his 16,000+ lies, to say nothing of the IIC’s utter bullshit. But assume those numbers are correct – with the capacity to conduct over 16,000 tests per day there is even less chance SFB’s claim of the distribution and availability of tests is true. I HATE the mothef*%k€r.

  53. 16,000 tests per day, huh ? We’ll have everyone tested in only 20,000 days. we multiply faster than that, so by the end of those 60 years, we might still be only half done.

  55. I wrote back in January that impeachment needed to end, and Democrats and Republicans needed to take COVID-19 seriously. The reports coming out of China were very real. But the Democrats were too concerned about their desire for power to care. And no one in the Republican Party and this administration thought to be proactive. A lack of information created significant unease with people, which has spiraled. Waiting 2 months to address to the nation was a mistake. Fact is: Neither Party did what was necessary or took this seriously.

    You know who has taken this seriously?

    Private medical clinics have been monitoring since Day 1. Every doctor’s office I went into over the last couple of months there were signs and information about the virus. Even my daughter’s pediatrician talked about it and the flu – and provided detailed advice.

    Businesses (especially the one’s with security teams) got out in front and issued staff travel bans / restrictions. Events have been cancelled or postponed. Lots of companies are under complete West Coast or East Coast WFH, while other offices are on “encouraged” WFH. The advice is simple: Wash everything down, stay clean, don’t be stupid, and if you feel sick – isolate and stay home.

    Just remember when you push for more government control of healthcare how inactive the politicians and bureaucrats have been – not just here – but all over the world. Well, except China. China actually built hospitals to quarantine sick people, which was almost a death sentence. If you are in a hospital in Italy or elsewhere in Europe – you will be surrounded by the sick, laying on carts in hallways because their systems were not prepared.

    The best things to do are:

    1) Stop watching Cable news like CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc. They have too much “entertainment” news with talking heads who only offer theories and opinions.

    2) Tune-out a lot of talk radio for the same reason. It’s almost ALL entertainment and not news.

    3) Reduce the memes, conversations and garbage you see on social media.

    DO… tune-in to listen to and read what expert health officials actually involved in the COVID-19 fight have to say.

    DO… focus on self-care and awareness. Eat better, exercise more at home, get rest, and wash your hands, etc.

    The lack of early action from our government and two parties is going to significantly harm business and the lives of many millions of people. And I do not think the economic proposals from Trump or the Democrats will do a lot of good. There is a lot of CYA going on rather than intelligent policy-making by either side. You know what MY business needs? Not a loan or a payroll tax cut… Not a “Basic Income…” I need an investment income in technology and an Apprenticeship Setaside to bring on a certain number of people each year to help my company grow. We need this government to stop bankrolling big corporations and support small businesses again… We need a proactive government, and not the same old men who can barely read prepared remarks, who lash out at people, or who cannot remember what they did or what they are doing.

  56. As for Bernie… Does it matter if he stays or goes? It won’t impact the nomination. And given how long 3 weeks is in politics… If I were the Biden campaign in March and April of 2020, I’d want to use this time to stay sharp, hone messages and use the platform from debates to address more and more voters. Just make sure the VP gets lots of rest the day of any debate – you don’t want him “sundowning” in prime time.
