It’s a Stupid Economy, Stupid

CNN recapped the Trump economic speech and Elizabeth Warren decapitated it:

In addition to tax cuts, Trump also proposed a moratorium on financial regulations, which conservatives say hinder economic growth.

“Cut regulations massively,” @realDonaldTrump? No rules & no accountability means people get ripped off & markets blow up. Remember 2008?” Warren said. “A ‘moratorium’ on agency regulations means stopping new rules on shady payday lenders & too-big-to-fail banks, @realDonaldTrump.” …

“W/o rules, @realDonaldTrump, too many huge banks juiced profits by cheating ppl on mortgages, credit cards, etc, then crashed our economy,” Warren said.

Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton Respond to Istanbul Airport Attack:

“Can you imagine them sitting around the table or wherever they’re eating their dinner, talking about the Americans don’t do waterboarding and yet we chop off heads?” Trump asked. “They probably think we’re weak, we’re stupid, we don’t know what we’re doing, we have no leadership. You know, you have to fight fire with fire.”

It was unclear if Trump was advocating for the United States to allow the same kind of behaviors that ISIS and other terror groups employ. A request for clarification went unanswered by the Trump campaign.

Clinton — the presumptive Democratic nominee — responded to the attacks, meanwhile, with a statement of solidarity that harkened back to her days as U.S. secretary of state.

“Terrorists have struck again in the heart of one of our NATO allies — and all Americans stand united with the people of Turkey against this campaign of hatred and violence,” she said. “Today’s attack in Istanbul only strengthens our resolve to defeat the forces of terrorism and radical jihadism around the world.”

She stressed the need for the U.S. to “deepen our cooperation with our allies and partners in the Middle East” to confront the threat of terrorism.

“Such cooperation is essential to protecting the homeland and keeping our country safe,” Clinton said.

America, Get Your Head Out of your Apps and Listen Up

Sure, that new guy on the block is fascinating, talks big and promises the moon; but he’s not for you, bubeleh. Listen to Mom and Pop Hill and Bill. Listen to Uncle Bernie and to cousin Lindsey. He’ll only bring you grief. He’s trouble with a capital T. Okay, so if you won’t listen to the family, at least listen to your friends who’ve stood with you during trying times:

trumpscaryThe Guardian: President Trump fills world leaders with fear — “It’s gone from funny to really scary. … Most of the world seems to agree a Donald Trump presidency is a disturbing possibility that would inflict unthinkable damage. … The possibility that Trump might actually win fills great swaths of the planet with dread – with the apparent and notable exception of Vladimir Putin’s Russia – with concerns over everything from trade to the nuclear trigger.”

Take heed, listen to them; in most cases they have our best interest as well as their own at heart. Much like friends warn us about an attraction and obsession with an unsuitable but fascinating newbie to the hood, we are being warned that he is not for us and portends a bad future if not a totally disrupting and disreputable present.
