Adjourn Sessions

Trump has fired a campaign manager (Paul Manafort) and a national security advisor (Michael Flynn) for lies about their Russian ties. So why does he hang on to AG Jeff Sessions?

In Trump world lie to Pence get fired (Flynn). Lie to the whole country (Sessions) get a wet kiss.

Are we over Trump’s Eddie Haskell night at Congress lying to the adults?

Wow, Hillary’s leaked emails to Huma about her laundry don’t seem so dangerous anymore.

Proven liars don’t get benefit of the doubt.

  1. and speaking of emails, from huffpo:

Mike Pence Used Personal Email As Governor And Was Hacked
Some emails contained information deemed too sensitive to release to the public.

The Indianapolis Star reported that Pence used a personal email account for official Indiana business while governor ― and that the account was hacked by a low-level scammer last summer. Pence was a harsh critic of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during the presidential campaign for using a private email account during her time as secretary of state.

Pence used a personal AOL account to correspond with top advisers in Indiana, at times discussing sensitive topics that included the state’s response to terror attacks and the arrests of several men on federal terror-related charges, according to emails released to the Star in response to a public records request.

The current Indiana governor’s office released more than 30 pages of Pence’s AOL emails, but withheld an unspecified number of additional emails because they contained information the state deemed too sensitive, the Star reported.

Trump’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Or perhaps, to invoke a Russian dessert, the Ptichye Moloko jar.

  3. wapo editorial board: Sessions’s recusal can’t be the end of the story

The attorney general promised to provide the Senate Judiciary Committee with a full explanation of his misleading testimony. The integrity of the committee’s work is now at stake, and its members owe themselves and the public nothing less than a thorough probe. Beyond that, what is still needed is a broader investigation into Russia’s attempted interference in the election. If ongoing investigations by congressional intelligence committees are stymied by partisanship, an independent commission should be empaneled.

  4. lie shmi
what’s in a name? by any other name a lie would smell like shit the same

as for sally, she was toast the minute she alerted the counsel to the intel reports…knew too much, therefore dangerous, and was on her way out from day one

  5. mr ddog, didn’t they use to be called Mexican wedding cookies?  ahh sic transit gloria mundi

no matter, love their little powdery sugared buttery vanilla-ed crumbly pecaned hearts

  6. Both are common tea cakes, patd. And both leave evidence you’ve enjoyed them.

Shouldn’t General Keebler resign? Read last night that he had Elliot Richardson’s portrait removed from the DOJ conference room. Maybe he didn’t like the artist?

  7. cnn:
Another national security adviser to the Trump campaign, J.D. Gordon, also disclosed Thursday that he had met with Kislyak, this time during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July. That meeting was first reported by USA Today.
Gordon told CNN that along with national security advisers Carter Page and Walid Phares, Gordon stressed to the Russian envoy that he would like to improve relations with Russia. Gordon added that at no time did any inappropriate chatter come up about colluding with the Russians to aid the Trump campaign.
“This is not any different than anything I said publicly and on panels,” Gordon said.
Gordon had advocated for language in the GOP platform that the Ukrainians not be armed in their battle against pro-Russian separatists, an effort was ultimately successful. But Gordon says he was simply advocating what Trump himself had expressed — that he did not wish to see major war break out over the situation in Ukraine.

  8. Jamie,

I was in a quandary all day yesterday. I realize that you and I, especially me, are in our latter years, but doing the math with the figures you supplied leaves me dumbfounded:
    36*37=1,332 y.o.
    HBD!

  9. Flatus, good question – the general part of attorney general should NEVER be equated to the military title.  They are just lawyers for god’s sake, and in Sessions’s case, one who couldn’t pass confirmation to be a trial judge in the federal system.

  10. Grrrrrrr (or Brrrrr) Damn rodent is apparently trying to get back at me for dissing its powers of prognostication.  We’re getting 3 more days of winter before heading back into the 60s Monday.  I even had to brush a heavy dusting of snow off Mrs. P’s windshield this morning. I’m thinking of checking in with DNR and see when groundhog season sarts.

  11. Pogo, the WBG weather even rated a photo in this morning’s Journal. For goodness sake, you and the Missus stay safe and warm; storms this time of year are especially treacherous.

  12. Flatus, we’re in the flatlands. The mountains east of here get the real weather. We’re mid 30s with a dippy bit of snow that’s only showing on grassy areas. We’re fine.  I just like to bitch about the weather.

On the brighter side of things, the early spring pad has allowed me to start my annual route 25, Mount Claire Road discarded tire survey two months early. This morning I counted 24 in the mile or so that I drive along the road. I think that’s up from last year although most of the tires are holdovers from last year.

  13. Why the discarded tires?? What about the disposal fee we prepay on replacement tires? (Glad ur safe!)

  14. Pogo…  yeah… winter has shown back up here too for a few days.  We were suppose to be leaving for our annual vacation in Lincoln tomorrow…  but it’s gonna be below zero tonight with a high of 7 degrees up there.  We’ve decided to stay here and hug our wood stove.  We’ll leave Sunday morning as the weather will take another springlike turn.

  15. Relax, Katherine, you might be able to get the really special SEC women’s game between Kentucky and Alabama that will be coming up in a few minutes. It might be on radio out West. These women are so much more special then then men in the same age group. The winner will be playing South Carolina tomorrow.

  16. Remember the winter of ought-16, ought-17?     No?

    Because there wasn’t one.

    Here, at least.

  17. The day before yesterday I took Rosie out in all the yellow pine pollen that is billowing about. She is out in the garage fussing with her automatic choke.

  18. Sturg, I don’t go anywhere without my passport in my billfold; it’s the only really unimpeachable I.D. around.

  19. I guess I’m kinda curious about the restaurant but in the meantime here’s some vanished gullah:

  20. that picture reminds me of driving down to Florida right after the War. Bout the only differences are the beverage cans and the (biggie) fancy gas-pumps instead of the pump-yourself things with the great big glass container at the top. I wonder if they ever changed the underground  storage tanks..

  21. The way the restaurant was described with the emphasis on booze with crude behavior to follow, I hope it fails instantly. Break the music and varieties of food down to complementary features, it might be a happening

  22. 1. If sessions were our client, I would advise the lead attorney to fire the bastard.

The accused is to keep his/her mouth shut in the presence of everybody but the defense team.

There is no sense in defending a crook who goes out of his way to look guilty.

    2. If comey wants to stonewall, subpoena the slimebag, his wife, his mother, his barber, and his mistress.

    3. Now that the deadbeat groper has okayed torture, private for-profit dungeons, and renditioning, we can send sessions and comey to Uzbekistan to get the answers to our many questions. I’ll bet that if the Uzbeki Emperor keeps those two rats in durance vile for 25 years, they’ll beg to tell us the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

  23. Porter Middleton……I was there one day with a new camera and was snapping pics of anything that moved and wound up with a picture of Porter.  He was so smart he could cause you to have to think about something or other.

  24. xr, even in exercise situations, I’ve had people crying in fear without laying a finger on them; and they thought themselves strong.

I have the utmost respect for our POWs—there is no human being that could forever resist the combination of physical and mental abuse heaped upon them.

  25. Flatus,

I subscribe to your view. Even if you are a Zoomie, you’d scare the poop out of me.

My clumsily expressed point was that these clowns richly deserve that which they plan to inflict on others. It’s like haman’s reward in the Book of Esther.

  26. I’ve had it with this political crap…….I’m just going to go live in the past…….seems to have been much more pleasant…….

  27. I’m sampling a touch of German beer this fine spring day in honor of my Westphalian fore barriers………y’all will forgive me if I perhaps should wax on wax off loquacious……..

  28. Our POWs lived, and many died, under hellish conditions. Many eventually gave in, and a few never did. I wouldn’t trade places with any of them. Life has too many pains as it is, even without the horrors of life as a POW.

Those who held out, whether for a second or for years, provided extraordinary service by keeping enemy murderers busy and away from the battle fields.

  29. There ain’t many words that can rise to any level of worth about what all the Vietnam veterans endured.

  30. Might not have said that right……..just means to me that words are useless up against the sacrifice those kids made……all of them.   They were sent into hell and they did what they could.

  31. where was you-know-who during the reported below meeting in trashy tower in dec pre-inauguration?  surely someone has checked the date to see if it coincides with his comings and goings.
    from ny times yesterday:
The New Yorker reported this week that Mr. Kushner had met with Mr. Kislyak at Trump Tower in December. Hope Hicks, a White House spokeswoman, confirmed on Thursday that Mr. Flynn was also at the meeting in response to questions from a New York Times reporter.

It is common and not improper for transition officials to meet with foreign officials. But all meetings between Trump associates and Russians are now significant as the F.B.I. investigates Russian interference in the American election and whether anyone close to Mr. Trump’s campaign was involved.

The meeting in December came at a crucial time, just as the Obama White House was preparing to sanction Russia and publicly make its case that Moscow had interfered with the 2016 election.
What is now becoming clear is that the incoming Trump administration was simultaneously striking a conciliatory pose toward Moscow in a series of meetings and phone calls involving Mr. Kislyak.

  32. Dark beers are very popular in the Cracker household – Porter is the favorite

  33. yahoo news:

The latest Trump Twitter spat started Thursday when Schumer said Attorney General Jeff Sessions should resign after it was revealed he talked to the Russian ambassador during the campaign despite saying under oath that he hadn’t. He also called for a special counsel to investigate the Kremlin’s interference in the U.S. election.
“Because the Department of Justice should be above reproach, for the good of the country, Attorney General Sessions should resign,” Schumer said at a press conference.
Early Friday afternoon, Trump — whose campaign and new administration have been dogged by reports of their ties to Moscow — tweeted a years-old picture of Schumer and Russian President Vladimir Putin laughing, drinking coffee and eating doughnuts.
“We should start an immediate investigation into @SenSchumer and his ties to Russia and Putin. A total hypocrite!” he wrote
Shortly after, Schumer said he’d be happy to discuss his 2003 contact with the Russian leader and his associates. He said the meet-up took place in full view of the press and the public. Then he asked Trump if his team would be willing to do the same.

  34. Aren’t people tired of pussy grabbers act –“I know I am but so are you”

  35. Haha I can’t hear “Cracker Household” without thinking of Barry Manilow  “I’m a Cracker, You’re a Cracker, He’s a Cracker, Shes a Cracker, wouldn’t you like to be a Cracker, too”………

  36. De-porter. Cool, Pat. Wish I’d thought of that.

Sweetie likes her Modelo Negra cool – 50F. I like mine about 70F. Not exactly porter, but it has some weight to it.

  37. There’s a great book out there……CRACKER CULTURE scots Irish influence in the old south……..Gerald McWhiney, university of Alabama press……

wonder how close I am to having that all right………whatevs

  38. See….. There was a bit of a communications breakdown and I opened the Modelo……..I says this is not a Negra Modelo………..this is a Modelo (Negra).   Wonder what’s the diff?
It even has a tiny little sign on the cardboard says “Misma Negra Modelo”

  39. In Spanish……it should be negro Modelo or Negra modela……..wonder why it’s Negra Modelo………

  40. If jeffson boar egad secessions is the general in charge of fighting against attorneys, who is the general in charge of fighting against surgery ?

  41. Has anyone kept count of the members of trump campaigners and transitioneers who are tainted by russian stench?

Also, how many of these arschlochen could an independent prosecutor already charge with felonious Logan Act violations ?

  42. If you haven’t crossed paths with Hank III yet and like Hank give him a shot……..when Minnie Pearl saw him at the Opry one time she looked at him and said, “Lord, Son, you’re a ghost!”

  43. Inspected the .45 a little while ago, and loaded a couple of more mags. Adjusted the pistol belt for my current weight loss.

I love my own homemade Stout–haven’t made it in years, but I might try it again. Yeungling Black & Tan is my current standby. About $10 for a 12-pack of bottles.

  44. Daughter Sue dislikes the pussy caps. Says, “You don’t need to be gross to fight gross.” In this particular case, I’m inclined to disagree. Perhaps a different exemplar would be more acceptable to her.

  45. All’s I got besides the Belgium-made browning .12 and the .22 rifle is a stupid little Rossi .38 with big ugly bullets……how will I ever make it thru….,…

  46. Flatus – I really need to get some help recharging my 9mm mags. I haven’t taken the weapon out of its holster since before last October. My treatment makes my hands so weak, and I don’t really feel safe handling the weapon right now.

  47. Here, we pay the fee when we get tires changes – a whopping $3 each where I have mine swapped.  Why? Same reason the REDNECKS around here throw bags of trash, deer carcasses, old tvs and mattresses on the side of the road.  Someday I’m going to do a photo collection of the wonder of WV within a 3 mile radius of my home. If it ever comes out I’ll publish it here.  All of the above along with the houses that are or should be condemned will be featured.

  48. Promiscuous dumping is an American past time –stick a for free sign on your trash and leave it on any road

  49. Travis, couple of things you can do. Probably the best long-run choice would be getting a decent .38 revolver. Folks at the local sporting goods store could help you with that.

The other, once your hands are strong enough to operate the slide safely and clear the weapon confidently, get yourself a magazine loader/unloader. It will make the impossible job manageable. Maglula makes one that they call the UpLULA. I use it for my .45 and .40;  they also have one for the 9-mm. You can find them on Amazon.

For intimidating an intruder, nothing beats a mean looking shotgun. I have an assault model with no stock but it does have a laser, sling, 8-rounds, etc. Only thing it lacks is a bayonet. And, it’s very user friendly.

  50. I treat my browning, the model of choice for Russians street fighting their way back to Berlin, as if it has no stock……..a very manageable weapon……

  51. Just no telling when the insanity is going to end! Up is down, good is bad, evil in not, lies are alt facts, crimes are only crimes if certain people do them, our congress votes to let our insane pres get away with hiding his financial hocus-pocus, our top cop is a liar… er, user of alt facts, IT’S EXHAUSTING!

Meanwhile, in another alternate universe, and wwwaaayyy off topic…did anyone notice that the message boards are gone on IMDB? They were full of hideous trolls mostly but I took part a few (very few) intelligent conversations over the years. Just throwing it out there as a curiosity 😀

As for our regularly scheduled programming…

  52. Granny, IMDB announced the end of their message boards perhaps a month ago. Decline in usage may have been given as the reason. I used that site daily when I worked in features.

Wonder who Trump’s Twitter editor is. What a job.

  53. That Modelo Negra/ Negra Modelo paradox is a quandary worthy of investigation.. and if there is any question, continue to investigate. Munich Dunkel-style Lager or Vienna Lager style beer  from Mexico. What’s a poor boy to do? If I had a bit of both I’d pursue it.

  54. Well, Korver didn’t really shine in Hotlanta tonight, but he’ll sleep well after the Cavs survived a 20 point run by Atlanta.

  55. Thanks MrD! Shows how much I pay attention LOL! I don’t think it was lack of use I think it way too many offensive trolls which is why I no longer visited the boards much.

Just finishing a very filling chocolate mouse I whipped up in my magic bullet!

PS: trumplestiltskin is nothing if not consistent. Once he has a bone to gnaw he doesn’t quit no matter how ridiculous it is!

  56. Flatus –

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about a .38 last year. I fired one during qualifying in Arizona and enjoyed it. It was very easy to manage. And I think I’d probably feel safe managing it until I get my hands back.

I do have a magazine loader that works really well. I picked it up when I bought my pistol. My dad made me hand load the magazine before he let me try the easy way. I knew right away I’d never charge a magazine again without one.

I just guess I need to be patient.

  57. 12 ga, stockless, 8 rounds. Yikes !

Does your palm go numb after the 8th round, Flatus, or do you brace it against your hip ? If the latter, how bad is the bruise it leaves ?

I have an early 12 ga Remington Autoloader. It’s good for shooting geese out of the stratosphere. It hurts my bad shoulder, but it hurts the geese a lot more.

  58. I could always shoot left-eyed almost as well (or badly) but my left shoulder is a mess too.

  59. It’s Dad’s 103d birthday today. I wish he were alive to enjoy it.

    Happy Birthday, Dad !

  60. XR, we could be shoulder rehab buds. Both of mine are junk any more. Dislocations and surgery early in life kinda do that to them apparently.

  61. The .38 I have holds 5 rounds…….not really enough firepower to hold off a mob of crazed trumpers storming over the golf courses and scaling the residential area walls and such.  But with the other two, the .22 and the .12 ga. I’m good for a couple of  hours anyway…..
