  1. that repetitive line in the goodbye mr panda song about not valuing something until it’s no longer there applies to our present administration that’s doing a bang up job right now even though it (particularly and especially joe) is not getting credit for it.  i changed the line to read:

“we’ll only know how much we miss him when the bidens are all gone”

  2. on another subject, speaking of bang up things or things that can go bang up in the middle of the night:

could it be that our front loading of defense capabilities in the Mediterranean aren’t just for keeping the powder keg from exploding in the middle east but also to be nearby if needed in the black sea and within range of russia?

of course that would take a bit of diplomatic doings to get a pass from Turkey.

Take a look at the warships of the second US Navy carrier strike group sent to keep the powder keg from blowing in the Middle East (msn.com)

  3. A scintillating interview with Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits. Kind of an oral history of rock & roll and show-biz from the end of the last century.
    Brigh lad, that one

  4. Zoos are prisons, no matter how pretty people try to make them.   Zoos transformed from cages to dioramas when folks started to wake up.  The illusion of freedom is to make humans feel better.

Whether in the US or China, the pandas will never be free to roam.

  5. Asking for a friend.  Is it true that Nicki Haley will be wearing breast plate and carrying a sword a the
    next Republican fete.

  6. “Keep my daughter’s name out of your voice .”
    —Haley
That sounds to me like a very confused person.
It’s like she realized about halfway through that she had to change something or she would be quoting Will Smith. She lost some points with that one.

  7. Nikki definitely made herself stand out last night.  She put RonDuh and Vivek on notice.  She’s definitely got FAAFO energy.

  8. Did think RonDuh was a little nervous when Vivek started talking about Hugh heels, though.

Looking forward to SNL this weekend.

  9. POTUS Biden talking to UAW right now and they love him.

    Republicans are anti-union.
    They are pro-work and anti-worker.

  10. Ha! Somebody must’ve tripped. POTUS Joe asked if they were OK and then said to let everyone know it happened to somebody else, not him.

He is just so good actually talking to people.  People with hearts and souls love him.

    Biden/Harris 2024!

  11. Just saw a twit that Manchin has decided to take his Senate retirement pay and enjoy life, probably somewhere warm.  That probably flips that seat, unless the M party decides to put a person who is sane and rational in the race, which we know the M voters will not vote for.

  12. Of  course Trump is taking credit:

    Donald J. Trump

    @realDonaldTrump

Because I Endorsed Big Jim Justice of West Virginia for the U.S. Senate, and he has taken a commanding lead, Democrat Joe Manchin has decided not to seek re-election. Looking good for Big Jim!

  13. Romney/Manchin siphons votes from Orange Adolf, not Biden.   RFK Jr does the same.

    Biden/Harris 2024!

  14. i can’t believe how obsessed with dipshit people still are, don’t they just want to move on with their lives?

  15. Jim Justice (this is the first time I’ve heard him called Big Jim although the nickname fits him to a T and I think ProPublica has referred to him as that in an article or two) did not need a Dumbass endorsement to get in the lead for the Senate race against Manchin.  He’s well liked even among some Democrats in WV – he won the governorship in the 2016 election as a Democrat – pretty sure he did that without a Dumbass endorsement. He switched parties in 2015 before the election and switched back to be an R after taking office and after a 2017 rally with trump..  He can tell which way the political winds blow here. He’s the odds-on favorite against both Manchin and Alex Mooney – who doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance against him in the Repug primary.
He and Dumbass have a lot in common – Wiki:

He inherited a coal mining business from his father and built a business empire with 94 companies, including the Greenbrier, a luxury resort in White Sulphur Springs.

    ***

After college, Justice went into the family agriculture business. He founded Bluestone Farms in 1977, which now operates 50,000 acres (20,000 ha) of farmland, and is the leading producer of grain on the East Coast of the United States. During that time, he also developed Stoney Brook Plantation, a 15,000-acre hunting and fishing preserve in Monroe County. Justice is a seven-time national corn growing champion. After his father’s death in 1993, Justice inherited ownership of Bluestone Industries and Bluestone Coal Corporation. In 2009, he sold some of his coal business to the Russian company Mechel for $568 million. In 2015, after a huge drop in the price of coal led Mechel to close some of the mines, he bought the business back for $5 million. Since buying back the mine from Mechel, Justice reopened several of the mines and hired over 200 miners.

Justice’s mining companies have been scrutinized for alleged cases of safety violation and unpaid taxes; in 2016, NPR called him the nation’s “top mine safety delinquent”. Justice allegedly owed millions of dollars to the government in back taxes and unpaid coal mining fees and fines. Two debt-related lawsuits were settled in 2019, and in 2020 mining companies Justice or his family owned agreed to pay $5 million in delinquent safety fines.

According to a 2020 ProPublica investigation, Justice had paid more than $128 million in judgments and settlements over his businesses’ unpaid bills.

Have a familiar ring to it? Oh, and the Greenbrier thing?  Used to be a very classy, stately Resort/Hotel/ Golf Club along the lines of the Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH that he to a fair extent fucked up by turning a portion of it into a very gaudy Casino.  There is one huge difference between him and Dumbass – he makes money running his casino.

  16. That RomneyManchin FEC filing sure is interesting

it’s no secret that i think the American electorate is pretty dumb, on average, but i think they’re actually too smart to fall for 3rd-party/spoiler candidates.  They know how important their vote is and what’s at stake.

  17. Oh boy, Jill Stein is back. With her, Manchin, West, Kennedy…. The 2024 election could be a disaster, and who benefits from disaster?

  18. I believe after the election on Tuesday night. the Michigan Democrats lost their slight edge in the state house. The house is now even at 54-54. As for the local mayoral election in Holland, our incumbent mayor who is a liberal Democrat  beat the Republican challenger by a margin of 68% – 32%. The challenger touted his 50 years of residency in Holland and his background in cyber security. But, with our county commission full of hardcore right wingers, this mayoral election outcome keeps some sanity in my town.

  19. Thank you but I just happened to see it. It was going to show, so I take a bow for the intertubes.
I do have to say I am spending much of my time supporting the Ukraine military, there is a huge disconnect between what is published and what is reality.  We are constantly buying drones, armor plates, winter gear, vehicles, tourniquets, medical supplies and such.  The foreign units are literally on their own compared to the government units.  And, we are also helping supply drones to foreign and Ukraine units.  If you would like to join in just let me know.

  20. “Oh boy, Jill Stein is back. With her, Manchin, Romney, West, Kennedy…. “

    All those guys are history.

There are no second acts in American lives.
    —F. Scott Fitzgerald.
    (One man’s opinion).

  21. BB is ahead of the MSM.  Not a peep of anything except how Manchin leaving hurts Dems in the Senate.

  22. West isn’t out.
    wiki:

West is a third partycandidate in the2024 presidential election. After declaringhis runwith thePeople’s Partyin June 2023, he shortly thereafter announced he also was seeking the nomination of theGreen Party. In October 2023, he announced he was again switching his affiliation, and is now running as an independent candidate

He may get the Stein award this year.

  23. How many people had to have wised up between 2016 and 2020 for the chump to lose in 2020?   I wonder how many people have wised up since then.  Probably a lot.  And looks like the number is growing by leaps and bounds no matter how much the media and the gop try to make it appear to be close.

    Abidin’ with Biden.

  26. Disingenuous chaos agents, in response to asking if he condemned Hamas’ offensive:

“I condemn pineapple on pizza and I have a crush on Shakira. I was born and raised here in America. This is irrelevant,” he said. “Three-hundred Holocaust survivors are condemning what Israel is doing without a mention of Hamas. It’s not a relevant part to the discussion.”

    Ok, then free the hostages
