“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Trevor’s Dodo the other day was spot on
from one of the commenters about the above: Watching from the edge of sanity, somewhere between doomscrolling and laughing uncontrollably. Thank you for making the madness digestible, Trevor.
So Dumbass thinks bombing the ever loving shit out of Iran then extracting a ceasefire between Israel and Iran will yield a Nobel Peace Prize for him? I don’t think the bombing shit and putting war fighter Pete as head of DOD are likely to get him there, particularly after enabling Israel to level Gaza and leaving Ukraine out to dry.
pogeaux, maybe they can make a deal with him: if he’ll denounce Putin, allow Ukraine to be in NATO, return to the Paris accords and abdicate from the royal presidency, they’ll give him the prize; but not ’til then no peace, no prize.
Oh, and today is Stage 1 of Le Tour de France. Three weeks of racing. Will Pogacar do it again? Stay tuned. He’s on a roll.
We didn’t do fireworks, but the neighborhood still managed to bang bang until 2:00 AM
All of the country neighbors must’ve spent a fortune on fireworks. Huge, professional, multi-mortar things, and it went on for hours.
Missing this year, fireworks from the horse farm which has been for sale for over a year. They also own a goat farm on an adjacent road, which is not as active in daylight. Animals appear and disappear (the horses appear in one of those fields from time to time), but rarely see humans anymore. They also own Mexican restaurants in the area, and when we went to the closest one in May, kids were running front of house. Who, knows, they may be handling the kitchen, too. I suspect the elders are in hiding from ICE. I had heard that they abducted several from another of their restaurants.
Anyway, no fireworks from the horse farm, but everyone else had plenty. I felt badly for the birds and raccoons and squirrels.
Got some nice videos, though. USA? USA?
The appropriations were extended through September, so can anything happen between now and then to wreak less havoc?

Because they’re often to rural to even benefit from such services. Yet their still expected to pay taxes every year. Why fight for benefits that don’t benefit them. Why pay for roads and hospitals when they don’t even pave out near them and the nearest hospital is over an hour away by car
meme #2…
Stage 1 fini, not much to look at. For crashes there was one that looks bad, one rider to medical care, two riders made it to the finish line. The morning is coming up, we will see who starts.
PatD, thanks again for the suggestion. The Claw-too-FEE is even better after a night in the refrigerator.
President Trump said the U.S. will begin sending letters Monday to other countries setting a tariff rate on their imports.
*FFS, the world needs to see that TFG and his entire administration are bullies. None can be trusted to do a deal. They will lie, strong-arm, and do whatever it takes to get all of the minerals, land, money, etc. The world needs to do us a solid, because every, single n@zi in this administration should be kicked to the curb via Article II, Section 4…and then let the International Criminal Court have at them.
Craig,
Your commenter has never been in a rural area.
Back in the late 70’s I served as a commissioner on a rural road distric. We operated with local tax funds and struggled to keep our one grader and dump truck running and paying somebody to run them. All our roads were gravel.
I was recently down in that part of the country, about half of the roads were paved. Trust me, I’ve seen the books, the money to pave those roads didn’t come from local taxes.
Jack
As to the hospitals, they used to be run by nonprofits often religious based, Back in the same rural 1980’s world there were small nonprofit Hospitals scattered across rural America. As we privatized our medical establishments, the nonprofits were converted to for profits and rural hospitals were closed down and consolidated.

Anyone live so far out there in the rural that the fire department won’t go there nor the county police? You know…so far out there that the sun sets between their house and the road?
the sun sets between their house and the road?
That’s the new status symbol around here and I’m not kidding. The rich people have taken their ball and gone to their enormous home.
Sturgeon- I know a lot of the mountain areas where you are on your own for hours if you need help. In Wyoming there is nothing having to hike out is often the only way to even find civilization. Alaska you might end up as dinner before you get found. A fire might not be noticed. Now I live surrounded by people.

hey, what’s with the Führer’s right eye? Did he have a stroke or something? I demand testing
might be the greatest cover-up in American history, not fit to serve
Anonduh – speculation is he has had several minor strokes and questions about two that might have been more serious, but due to immediate care were resolved fast. There is significant video evidence he is impaired.
His mental decline well known.
He also has drop foot.
WTF does MuskRat think he can create a viable third party?
Hmmm, if it were to win, would MAGAts contest it & offer Elon’s highjinx as proof, thus undermining Adolf’s legitimacy?
Elon is greedy. He should be happy blackmailing Adolf. Elon, like Adolf, has a god complex.
I support Musk forming a political party just to attrit MAGA, but the concept of a “uniparty” is simplistic nonsense

Kandiss Taylor, who is running to represent Georgia in the House of Representatives, posted on X Saturday: “Fake weather. Fake hurricanes. Fake flooding. Fake. Fake. Fake.”
Her bizarre post came as authorities searched for dozens of people who lost their lives in Texas’ flash floods. Of the 30 people confirmed dead so far, at least nine were children.
cognitive dissonance
sad story, can’t rectify it with her superstitions
Although the National Weather Service on Thursday issued a broad flood watch for the area, Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd — noting that the NWS predicted 3-6 inches of rain for the Concho Valley and 4-8 inches for the Hill Country — told reporters during a press conference earlier Friday that “the amount of rain that fell in this specific location was never in any of those forecasts.”
Since January, the NWS — a branch of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) — has reduced its workforce by nearly 600 people as a direct result of staffing cuts ordered by the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, as part of Trump’s mission to eviscerate numerous federal agencies.
This policy is in line with Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation-led blueprint for a far-right overhaul of the federal government that calls for “dismantling” NOAA.
i’m assuming this story is dominating network and cable news to the degree that political discussions seem in poor taste, which i’m sure the regime will exploit
we’re all in our little “media ecosystems”, how does one tailor messaging to 100 million audiences?
On Saturday, the Georgia representative announced in an X post that she has introduced a bill that aims to “end the dangerous and deadly practice of weather modification and geoengineering,” an issue she claims to have been “researching” for some time now.
The bill will make “the injection, release, or dispersion of chemicals or substances into the atmosphere for the express purpose of altering weather, temperature, climate, or sunlight intensity” a felony.
“This is not normal. I want clean air, clean skies, clean rain water, clean groundwater, and sun shine just like God created it!!” she wrote in a follow-up post, noting that fellow MAGA Republican Tim Burchett has already co-sponsored her effort.
*Why did she vote for a bill that gives tax cuts to big oil and created an excise tax on wind and solar?
I’m telling you they’re gonna come up with some crazy contrived reason that isn’t “their God killed their children”
