  1. beware the Ides of June, plus or minus and specifically a certain parade in DC on the 14th.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jun/07/the-base-neo-nazi-group-paramilitary-training

An international neo-Nazi terrorist organization is boldly continuing to build in the US and planning a new paramilitary training event without fear of local authorities or the FBI, which once dismantled it in a nationwide effort.
The Base, founded in 2018 by a former Pentagon contractor living in Russia and now suspected of Kremlin-sponsored espionage, once boasted close to 50 stateside members before the bureau made more than a dozen arrests in a years-long counter-terrorism operation.
But since the presidential election campaign last year and what many then believed to be a surefire victory for Donald Trump, the Base saw an opportunity in a potential administration uninterested in policing white supremacy and went about ramping up its ranks.
Now, the Base has a presence in Ukraine, performing sabotage operations inside the country against the embattled government, and new and dangerous cells emerging across Europe, and it appears to be growing in the US, where the FBI under the Maga acolyte Kash Patel has signalled it isn’t prioritizing investigations of far-right extremism.
In its early history, part of what first piqued the interest of authorities was the Base’s courting of military veterans who could help drill its foot soldiers in a series of training camps across the US. Eventually implicated in an assassination plot, mass shootings and other actions in Europe, the Base went so far as to have a fortified compound and cell in Michigan, led by a US army dropout.
Online evidence from its various accounts, several of which live on Russian servers to avoid censorship on American sites, shows the Base has real plans for a national gathering this summer where members intend to train in paramilitary drills as in years past.
“The Base in [the] USA is preparing for an upcoming national training event,” reads one of its recent posts soliciting crypto donations. “This one might be our most attended training event in [the] USA in a while. We could really use some financial support to help our members with travel expenses.”
The post continued: “When you donate money to the Base, you’re investing in a White Defense Force that’s aiming to protect white people from political persecution and physical destruction.”
The Base then published a new photo of armed members claiming to be in the midwest, which follows a trend in 2025 of the group bragging about its unafraid American presence. As a sort of taunt to its enemies, on the day of Trump’s inauguration the Base released a photo of four members somewhere in Appalachia, in what was the largest number of American members in one photo in over a year.
“The upcoming national training event indicates that the group is seeking to grow and is willing to take the risk of advertising it publicly in advance,” said Joshua Fisher-Birch, an analyst of far-right terrorism who has been following the Base’s movements for close to a decade. “The Base appears to be actively seeking to grow in the US.”

  3. “I have not checked yet but due to the event type the Metro may be shut down too. The subway tubes go all over the D.C. area. Many are not buried very deep so having a tank drop through and on too the tracks is not out of the possible. The metal sheeting spreads the weight, as do the tracks, but it does not make the total weight go away.”
BB, if you lay a metro map over the planned route shown in article below, how much of it could be affected/damaged in your opinion?
    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/06/05/trump-military-parade-route-map-dc/84030219007/

The parade will take place along Constitution Avenue NW, starting on Constitution Avenue NW and 23rd Street and ending on 15th Street alongside the National Mall, near the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
The procession will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, passing by Constitution Gardens and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the direction of the White House. It will cut through the National Mall between the Washington Monument and German-American Friendship Garden on one side, and the long grassy expanse of President’s Park in front of the White House on the other. The parade is set to cross in front of Trump’s viewing stand on Constitution Avenue south of the White House.
The parade is expected to end at 7:30 p.m. ET, organizers say. A concert at the Ellipse is scheduled to start when the parade ends, and Army officials say a firework display will begin at 9:45 p.m. ET.

  4. Same with me, Poobah. Jazz piano is something that I’ve never spent much time listening to. Chick is pretty special.

So California is the second step toward authoritarianism, following ignorance of constitutional rights. Looks like we’re on the road and the momentum is growing.

  5. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posse_Comitatus_Act

    POSSE COMITATUS ACT

“The Act originally applied only to the United States Army, but a subsequent amendment in 1956 expanded its scope to the United States Air Force. In 2021, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 further expanded the scope of the Act to cover the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Space Force.”

“The Act does not prevent the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state’s governor.”

“ The United States Coast Guard (under the Department of Homeland Security) is not covered by the Act either, primarily because although it is an armed service, it also has a maritime law enforcement mission.”

*IF the National Guard is called out by the state’s Governor.
Since Gavin didn’t call out the NG, they have no legal authority to attack civilians, right?
Should Gavin have called them up to protect civilians from ICS, DHS, etc.?
Should other governors get ahead of the game and do that?
Can Orange Adolf actually “federalize” the NG or is this just a dic(tator) move?

  6. Jack, Thank you. This one brought back some memories. First got acquainted with Chick Correa about 45 years ago. He is a great artist in his field.

  7. jack, a belated thanks for today’s selection. really got my attention at 37:10 when he so tenderly snuck in “someone to watch over me.” always loved the many variations done with that song.

  8. for instance like willie’s version… it’s not the traditional ella, barbra or frankie renditions of their youth altho’ they still have appeal.

  9. Thanks Jack!

Wow… I completely spaced the Belmont Stakes. I guess it comes from coming home to a mostly empty fridge and a mountain of laundry. Everything is getting back to normal much slower for me nowadays.

  10. https://www.newsweek.com/ice-agents-detain-us-marshall-mistake-2081834

“A Deputy US Marshal who fit the general description of a subject being sought by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) was briefly detained at a federal building in Tucson after entering the lobby of the building,” the U.S. Marshals Service said in a statement on Thursday.

The White House has ordered ICE to reach quotas as high as 3,000 daily arrests, raising concerns among advocates who say such targets encourage indiscriminate enforcement practices and undermine due process protections.

*Could my California Republicans wake up when my cousins who “fit the general description” get nabbed by masked goons who may be ICE, or bounty hunters, or just rando pervs who want to abduct women?

  11. https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/tony-awards-cap-record-breaking-post-pandemic-broadway-season-2025-06-08/

Best musical nominees like “Dead Outlaw,” “Maybe Happy Ending” and “Operation Mincemeat” tell unique and untested stories. On the play side, “Oh, Mary!” and “Purpose” offer vastly different takes on belief, identity and power.

*The show must go on, despite Orange Adolf’s attempts to blow up things in LA and then make it national. Tony Awards tonight.

  12. Gotcha Renee, just back from one trip and headed out on another. Going to see Mt. Rushmore before it’s unseeable. Looks like we will miss the big parade.

  13. Yep, that’s what Marcos did in the Philippines. Those protestors didn’t bomb themselves. Then, a dozen years of Martial law.

A general strike a few months ago could’ve prohibited this abomination.

A general strike immediately and for as long as it takes may or may not help, at this point, but something’s gotta give.

  14. After watching the 2025 Belmont Stakes, we can say Sovereignty’s win at the Kentucky Derby was no fluke.

Once again, the horse beat out race favorite Journalism on Saturday with Baeza coming in third.

Spent all day yesterday at Emerald Downs. Most of my horses except for the bet on Sovereignty kept coming in in the wrong order.

  15. I’m becoming very fond of George Conway. He protested against ABC forcing Terry Moran to take down this post. Moran was just posting known facts.

  16. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proclamation_No._1081

Proclamation No. 1081 was the document which contained formal proclamation of martial law in the Philippines by President Ferdinand Marcos, as announced to the public on September 23, 1972.

The proclamation marked the onset[1][2] of a 14-year period of authoritarian rule, which would include eight years of Martial Law (de jure ending on January 17, 1981, through Proclamation No. 2045),[3][4] but not de facto : followed by six more years where Marcos retained essentially all of his powers as dictator.[5][6]
Marcos was eventually ousted on February 25, 1986, as a result of the EDSA People Power Revolution.[1]

While some historians believe Marcos’ logistical and political preparations for proclaiming Martial Law began as early as 1965, when he took up the Defense Secretary portfolio for himself in an effort to curry the loyalty of the armed forces hierarchy,[17] the preparation for the actual document which became Proclamation 1081 began in December 1969, in the wake of Marcos’ expensive 1969 presidential reelection bid. Marcos approached at least two different factions within his cabinet to study how the implementation of martial law should be structured in the proclamation.

  17. More from Conway

What Moran reported was demonstrable fact. Indisputable fact. Yet they suspend him. This is the advantage that Trump and his ilk have. They are so beyond the moral pale, so beyond normality, that it is considered impolite, impolitic, or intemperate to describe them as they are.

  18. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5339013-trump-says-protesters-will-not-be-allowed-to-wear-masks/

“These Radical Left protests, by instigators and often paid troublemakers, will NOT BE TOLERATED,” he wrote on Truth Social early Sunday morning. “Also, from now on, MASKS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED to be worn at protests. What do these people have to hide, and why???”

*Hmmm, Orange Adolf is always confessing. PAID INSTIGATORS.

*Plastic nose & glasses, fake mustaches and wigs are not masks. Just sayin’

  19. https://newsukraine.rbc.ua/news/trump-diverted-20-000-anti-drone-missiles-1749396100.html

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with ABC News, said that Ukraine was supposed to receive 20,000 specialized missiles to counter Shahed drones. But the current administration of US President Donald Trump decided to send them to the Middle East instead.
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was facing serious problems with the Shaheds and other threats, and that they were fighting them and would find every tool to destroy them.
He noted that Ukraine had earlier agreed with former US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on a separate project. According to Zelenskyy, that project was initiated under the previous US administration, during President Joe Biden’s term in office.
“We counted on this project. 20,000, between us, 20,000 missiles, anti-Shahed missiles. It wasn’t expensive, but it’s special technology. So, we counted on these 20,000 missiles. Today in the morning, my Minister of Defense told me that the United States has moved it to the Middle East,” Zelenskyy said.
    Russian drone attacks
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has actively used Shahed-type attack drones to strike Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
This makes it critically important for Ukraine to have effective systems to destroy the Shaheds. Recently, Russia has ramped up domestic production of these drones, leading to a rise in the scale of attacks.
On the night of June 6, Russia launched a massive drone and missile strike on Ukraine. The capital, Kyiv, was among the targets. Debris fell in several districts of the city.
In just one night, Russian forces used 407 attack drones.

  20. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/israel-hamas-war-netanyahu-arming-gangs-gaza-clans-activated/?ftag=YHF4eb9d17

Former Israeli Defense Minister and opposition lawmaker Avigdor Liberman on Thursday accused Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of authorizing weapons transfers to a criminal gang in Gaza that he likened to the ISIS terrorist group.

Late on Thursday, Netanyahu acknowledged that “on the advice of security officials, we activated clans in Gaza that oppose Hamas. What’s wrong with that? It’s only good. It only saves the lives of IDF soldiers.”

  21. Nobody is talking about Taco Don’s big, awful bill, nor the Epstein files.

This seems like it was always the plan; total lockdown for the military parade…although Project 2025 lists 7/4/26…meaning no more elections.

  22. they’re trying to condition the populace to accept domestic militarism

The hope is if they repeat it enough, it’ll become normalized

media is complicit or being extorted

  23. https://www.thetimes.com/us/news-today/article/nick-stern-shot-la-riots-british-photographer-ftk9sh22x

A British photographer has undergone surgery after being shot by police while covering the anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.

Nick Stern was hit with what doctors believe was a 14mm high-velocity “sponge bullet” that tore into his thigh while he was taking pictures of a stand-off between protesters and law enforcement on Saturday evening.

“I had a press ID round my neck, a large camera, a video camera … I was making a point of making myself visible as media,” he told The Times.

Stern, 60,from Hertford but who emigrated to the US 18 years ago, mobilised after hearing reports that federal agents had been carrying out immigration enforcement operations in the city’s Paramount area.

“I thought by the time I get down there it’ll be over — it’s about 30 minutes away — but as the day went on things seemed to escalate. There was a car on fire, there were helicopters; there was a Black Hawk that landed right by the Home Depot and it was dropping off ammo for ICE, boxes and boxes of it”.

He arrived on the scene to find a stand-off between protesters and “probably about 50 sheriff’s deputies with those civil disorder vehicles”.

He saw that officers were armed with “less-lethal weapons” that are used to deter and control subjects without resorting to deadly force. They included flash-bangs — or stun grenades — and sponge rounds designed to deliver a painful blow.

*This member of the media was not complicit.

  24. ideally, while at your family barbecue today, someone says “oh did you hear that congress guy say they might be bringing the Marines into LA” and then you’re supposed to say something like “oh those crazy lefties in California, huh?” and then you both chuckle a little bit and eat a burger. Meanwhile, you both casually accepted the concept of United States Armed Forces acting in a domestic law-enforcement capacity

  25. If nobody buys anything, and everyone who can stay home from work (use sick days, or vacation days) and those that have to go in go into quiet quitting mode, things will grind to halt.

And then there are cranks like me who have no problem calling members of Congress, even those from other states, with complaints and suggestions.

  26. Martial law might get a mention on tonight’s Tony Awards.

If the NBA would just refuse to play tonight.

  27. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jun/08/abc-news-suspends-journalist-stephen-miller-trump

ABC News has suspended its senior national correspondent after he described top White House aide Stephen Miller as “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred” on social media.

In a now deleted post, Terry Moran, who recently conducted an interview with Donald Trump, said that the president and his deputy chief of staff, Miller, were both “world-class” haters.

According to a screenshot of the post, Moran said that Miller was not the brains behind Trumpism and his ability to translate the movement’s “impulses” into policy was “not brains. It’s bile.”

“You can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment,” Moran added. “He eats his hate.”

He added of Trump: “Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only a means to an end, and that end [is] his own glorification.”

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, described Moran’s rhetoric as “unacceptable and unhinged” on Fox News. “I think this speaks to the distrust that the American public have in the legacy media,” she added. JD Vance, the vice-president, described Moran’s post as a “vile smear”.

*My distrust of legacy media comes from lack of coverage of protests and issues that I can find from the wire services or international news outlets.

  28. Old Joe eh? We have seen many examples of sfb unable to walk over the years. Here is krasnov almost doing the c vertebrae death fall.. Stable genius he is.

  29. When the LA police acted like the current actions in California in 1965, it caused the Watts Riot. It may be time for another riot to re-establish Civil Rights in the state. Every 60 years seems like good timing.

  30. This weekend the 2025 is declaring martial law and there has been no response from Dem leadership, if there is any. Someone tell me otherwise. Sfb stated more troops will be dispersed before June 14. When will Dems respond?

  31. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-authorizes-officials-take-action-necessary-liberate-la-2082562

In a post to Truth Social, Trump wrote that Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi have all been directed “to take all such action necessary to liberate Los Angeles from the Migrant Invasion, and put an end to these Migrant riots.”

“A once great American City, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals,” Trump wrote. “Now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations—But these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve. Order will be restored, the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump also shared a post by Reuters showing a video of dozens of law enforcement officers in tactical gear at night opening up a garage gate and pointing weapons and shooting at protesters.

While it was not clear what the weapons were, they appeared to be non-lethal, as they were dispersed into the crowd and people went running.

*Likely what happened in the story of the journalist I posted earlier. Keep telling on yourselves, you horrid n@zis. The ICC will use it at your trials, unless you just run to a bunker and go the way of H/tler and Goebbels.

  32. Meanwhile the fireflies flicker while floating beneath a dizzying display of bats feeding in the twilight sky dominated by a near-full moon above my flourishing garden, it’s rather nice

  33. So, apparently Team Adolf wanted 2,000 National Guard in LA, but only 300 showed up. They had no orders beyond that, and were just present. It wasn’t them with the tear gas and flash-bangs and sponge bullets. The NG don’t wear masks, and neither did protesters (and now they are being told they are prohibited from wearing masks), so you can recognize the bad guys because they’re wearing masks.

  34. full disclosure: posting chillest tracks from Don Was’ satellite show on John Mayer’s channel:

  35. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2025/06/08/national-guard-los-angeles-protests-live-updates/84103374007/

Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 Guard members over the objections of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who said Trump wanted to create a “spectacle.”

U.S. Northern Command said about 300 soldiers were on the ground at three locations in the greater Los Angeles area to provide “safety and protection of federal property and personnel.”

The protests were not widespread, and most of the city was quiet on Sunday.

Videos showed law enforcement officers firing tear gas and rubber bullets at demonstrators. As the clashes continued, some officers were seen shooting smoke-filled canisters and “less-lethal” munitions for crowd control. Much of the crowd then moved to block traffic on the 101 Freeway and was immediately confronted by officers in the area.

Law enforcement and hundreds of protesters were in a standoff in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, according to The Los Angeles Times. The confrontation began at around 3:30 p.m. local time as officers were seen pushing a crowd of people away from the Metropolitan Detention Center, the Times reported.

In an emailed letter released on Sunday afternoon, Newsom formally asked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to rescind Trump’s order to deploy the National Guard in Los Angeles.

*Newsom just needs to give the NG their orders; protect the protesters. Protect civilians.

  36. Cole Escola Becomes the First Nonbinary Performer to Win Lead Actor in a Play

Star-playwright Cole Escola won the Best Actor in a Play Tony for their riotously funny work in the outlandish comedy “Oh, Mary!,” marking the first time a nonbinary performer has scored a Tony win for any play category for acting.

*Oh, Mary! is hilarious and this is a well-deserved win. Would I see it, again? Yes, even if I had to climb all of those stairs to the cheap seats, again…but I’d get to the theater earlier.

  37. Kudos to NBC for an appropriate TDF to end the SNL 50 show…Sir Paul performing The End, and to ABC for having Lin Manuel Miranda hand out the Tony award for best Musical. Both productions beat shit out of the 2nd game of the NBA finals.

  38. poetic, acoustic and peaceful:

    ✌️

Olbermann just posted a new episode commenting on “trump’s terrorist attack on LA” fyi

I hadn’t checked his site in a couple days so I thought I’d look for some entertaining skum/brump feud commentary, but I guess we’re talking about this now 🤷‍♂️

  39. Last Saturday Svengoolie was Joan Crawford and a very young George Kennedy in “Straitjacket” a psychological thriller film by Wm Castle. Pretty lame all in all, from premise to execution, but then I’m no fan of psychological thriller films or”horror” films in general, I just like the old “monster movies”
