Jack, great choice. That’s some of the Mozartiest Mozart, and I loves me my Mozart. Loved the cold open last night. Fell asleep for the rest, so happy to wake up to the rest.

Basketball is now in full swing and I’m loving it. SEC has up to 13 teams projected to make the tournament. That is insane.

So often when listening to Mozart I seem to hear bits of melody that have been appropriated by later songs. Can’t think of a specific example though.

What Does It Mean That Donald Trump Is a Fascist? Trump takes the tools of dictators and adapts them for the Internet. We should expect him to try to cling to power until death, and create a cult of January 6th martyrs.

Fascism reduces the unbearable complexity of history to whatever the Leader says. It weakens the government and uplifts oligarchs. It conjures an enemy.

Craig – although not a big internet ponder the demise of stupid does have many thinkers trying to come up with some answers. Demise does not need to be room temperature either. The guy makes “loony tunes howling at the moon mad and peeing on trees” a very good possibility. As nuts as he today, he could go much further.

What could happen if he is removed from office? Immediate could be he is a martyr for the magats. Would it trigger civil war? Would the moles in the military and police be involved in any civil disturbance? Would the new president, Vance or someone else, be able to change the path of the outrage? Would the Congress act or just sit back, ineffective?

Those are the easy questions floating around, there are many more questions. The speculation of what would happen is all over the place too. What I have not seen yet is speculation of him as a dictator, and now fuerer. It just makes me frustrated that he is still consider rational. At least there are many of us in the peanut gallery who are on the same page.

I am still deciding how nuts the magats, including the wannabe brownshirts, will go when he is sidelined. I think there will be some actions around the country, but would be controlled. What would happen if it happens in the next few months? Would Vance continue 2025? Yes is the answer to that, but he is not living in an alternate universe so might do somethings a little different.

https://apnews.com/article/trump-biden-israel-bomb-gaza-hamas-war-023b36984c6116c128b5e47f117bba2a

“Trump wants Jordan and Egypt to accept more Palestinian refugees and floats plan to ‘clean out’ Gaza”
“ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) — President Donald Trump said he would like to see Jordan, Egypt and other Arab nations increase the number of Palestinian refugees they are accepting from the Gaza Strip, potentially moving out enough of the population to “just clean out” the war-torn area to create a virtual clean slate.”

“During a 20-minute question-and-answer session Saturday with reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump also said he has ended his predecessor’s hold on sending 2,000-pound bombs to Israel. That lifts a pressure point meant to reduce civilian casualties during Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza, which is now halted by a tenuous ceasefire.”

“We released them today,” Trump said of the bombs. “They’ve been waiting for them for a long time.” Asked why he lifted the ban on those bombs, Trump responded, “Because they bought them.”

Question for you legal types. What amendments and decisions state Native Americans are citizens? Magats are trying to declare that NA are not citizens and ICE is starting to detain and send them to Mexico.

blueINdallas

BB – It’s because NA are bound to their tribes, first.
Not that US has kept treaties, but this is to access their lands to exploit resources and prevent them from voting or accessing benefits other US citizens get.

I find it interesting the Orange Adolf had called for the federal government to recognize a tribe in North Carolina. They should be careful what they wish for, as Shitler wants to disenfranchise them. They’ll get nothing for their votes.

https://www.npr.org/2025/01/25/g-s1-44677/lumbee-tribe-recognition-north-carolina-trump

“The Lumbee Tribe has more than 55,000 members, making it one of the largest Native groups in the United States. Located in the impoverished and diverse Robeson County, Trump had pledged during his 2024 campaign to recognize the tribe and won the county with 63% of the vote.”

“For private prison companies, ICE contracts remain their most significant federal revenue stream. In 2023, ICE accounted for 30% of CoreCivic’s and 43% of GEO Group’s revenues, according to the Brennan Center.”

My suspicion is that these will turn in to labor camps, since the 13th Amendment allows for slave labor of the imprisoned.

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2025/01/birthright-citizenship-article-v-mark-meckler-constitutional-convention-convention-of-states/

“We’re in totally uncharted territory.”

“A provision in Article V of the Constitution states that if a majority of state legislatures petition Congress, there will be a convention to propose amendments. This would allow states to shape federal policy. But an Article V convention could also open the floodgates for other sweeping changes to be proposed and potentially ratified by states. (Constitutional law observers and critics of this idea have long warned of the risk of a “runaway convention” that throws away the Constitution and rewrites it from scratch.)”

“When we started Convention of States and I was there at the beginning, I knew we had to have a spiritual revival, a Great Awakening, and a political restoration for our country to come back to its roots,” Dunn, a pastor who has built a powerful political machine in the Lone Star state to advance his theocratic agenda, said at the Convention of States summit in 2019. “What I did not expect is that Convention of States would be an organization that would trigger the Great Awakening, and that’s what’s happened, and it’s a miracle, and that is why we’re doing the Lord’s work if we go around it the right way.”

Tim Dunn is a TX oil billionaire and Christo-fascist. They will also try to take away the right for anyone but white mom to vote. Believe it.

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/01/26/trump-columbia-tariffs-plane-migrants-00200642

“President Donald Trump said Sunday he is slapping an emergency 25 percent tariff on all goods imported from Colombia after the country’s president turned away two U.S. military aircraft full of detained Colombian migrants.”

“The punitive duties, which Trump announced in a social media post, would increase to 50 percent in a week as the U.S. president ignites another fight with a foreign leader over his tariff and immigration policies.”

“Petro later appeared to back down, posting in a statement that he has arranged the presidential plane to “facilitate the dignified return of the nationals who were to arrive today in the morning.”

Fuuuuudge! No appeasement, folks!

The US isn’t going to be the biggest consumer block for long because unemployment is going up, and prices are increasing internally for locally-grown food. And, how stupid of Adolf to decide instead of increasing the price of Colombian imports 25%, they’d be 50% more expensive. Nobody but the upper class will buy anything beyond necessities six months from now. MAGAt-n@zis are killing the consumer base.

Tariffs
I think I wrote about this a few years ago, during the first reign of terror.

Although sfb thinks just scribbling some idiocy (that sylized scribble of a trademark) on a big piece of paper so he can hold it up to the camera like a three year old showing mommy his drawing of a cow, makes stuff happen immediately, it does not. Tariff changes need to be published (hopefully the Government Printing Office (GPO) is not shut down, the changes go into various documents for governments, trade, and people to read.

The federal government needs to update documents, harmonized tariff tables have to be updated, computer data tables need to be updated, brokers need to adjust pricing, import bills need adjusting and various government entities need to adjust their computer data tables. There is a lot more that has to happen.

Often new tariff codes are needed, and for an entire country to have a uniform change means even more work. If you have programs that act on certain tariff codes you need to update your programs, which probably require Customs and Border Protection to update their computer data and programs.

During the first era of sfb we had to update tariff codes all the time. It was not nice and often required hours working with other government agencies to coordinate the changes. For grins I put the link to the harmonized tariff table website. Please explore, you will see much that makes no sense, but it does. Everything imported is in the tables. The basic table is what was created last year and became official this year. Every change sfb causes makes a new pain in the ass for many thousands of people.
