during the election seasons, add the ad companies to that corp. greed list. they and the media companies are raking in the $$ selling time for them. here’s trevor on some political ads
Why does it seem like there's more lying in political ads this election season than ever? pic.twitter.com/WpeQLn17Ie
The gutting of Twitter is happening today. With little left of staff who know how to run the site the day and weekend should be interesting. Somehow bringing in staff from a car manufacturing plant to run a tech web site seems weird. But, we taxpayers will end up covering the destruction and demise costs so the super rich white guy can write of taxes for the rest of his life. Yay.
Back when I booked commercials for a radio station, we loved election season. That was where we made the year’s profit. That being said, the level of lies in modern commercials is astounding. Even the ones for politicians I support are out of context if not out and out prevarications.
Twitter is getting weird. The guy who was so worried about bots is now allowing them to flood the place. There is obviously no oversight even by the remaining employees.

Michael Moore, if nothing else a shrewd observer, predicts democrat win.
I do too.

i’d love to know what the hell “corporate greed inflation” is, is that when companies try to make a profit?
Liberals need to avoid discussing economics, at all, they either don’t understand it or pretend not to
There is an easy way to stop corporate greed, just don’t buy what they are selling.
They own it we want it. It is what I do. Chicken is $6 a lb, I don’t eat chicken. Pork loin is $1.89 plus a $5 dollar off coupon. (costco btw)
Gas high? I park the pickup and drive the hybrid.
Blaming corporate greed is a copout for bad policy.

I some ways I’m lucky, my only real vice is Jim Beam whisky and it is the same price it was 20 years ago and baloney has come down in price. I will admit now that I have the money I buy the better baloney.

Some of the country folks around here used to call it “Boneless Ham”
Have one for me, good Sir, haven’t had a drop in 9 months and am likely incapable of ever having one again 😭
i wouldn’t mind a tasty liverwurst sandwich with thinly sliced raw onion, though 😋
On rye with good mustard. We had a liverwurst shortage for a while. It seems to be over.
i do have memory of the old man, ambling in with a sneaky grin on his face, a recognizably yellow package in his hand, held protectively about his waist.
”Yo, Dad, is that liverwurst??” i inquired excitedly
”Get the bread,” he directed with joyful arrogance
We ate those sandwiches like escaped criminals, knowing the moment couldn’t last, and savoring it
Yikes Jamie, how is Patty Murray suddenly in a close race?
Pâté is just a fancy way of saying liverwurst IMO. usually stingily served with great flair.
WEHT) – The National Park Service this week posted “ribbiting” content on social media about the dangers of licking toads.
Calling it “toad-ally terrifying,” officials said the Sonoran Desert Toad (Bufo alvarius), one of the largest toads in North America, secretes a potent toxin that experts say can make people sick if they handle the frog or get the poison in their mouths.
“As we say with most things you come across in a national park, whether it be a banana slug, unfamiliar mushroom, or a large toad with glowing eyes in the dead of night, please refrain from licking. Thank you,” the Park Service said Monday on Facebook.
According to The New York Times, the toxins can be strong enough to kill full-grown dogs when the toad is threatened.

HOUSTON, July 29 (Reuters) – Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) on Friday posted its biggest quarterly profit ever on the back of soaring energy prices and as it kept a tight rein on spending.
The top U.S. oil producer reported second-quarter net income of $17.9 billion, or $4.21 per share, an almost four-fold increase over the $4.69 billion, or $1.10 per share, it earned in the same period last year.
Oil and natural gas prices have scaled multi-year highs this year as Western sanctions against major exporter Russia squeezed an already under-supplied global market. Margins for making fuels like gasoline and diesel surged worldwide, boosting the profits of oil giants, including European majors Shell (SHEL.L)and Total Energies (TTEF.PA), both of which reported results on Thursday.
Half of the inflation in the energy sector is corporate profits. Get that? Half. Yes, the response is to reduce purchasing – but that’s like trying to get the horses back into the barn. Let’s see a windfall profits tax. That’s a policy that’s as popular as free chocolate with everyone except corporate windfall profiteers.
The US crippled the Russian energy sector and enriched its own, sounds like a ‘win’ by the Biden administration to me.
I think the DEms will do well. The latest polls show Fetterman back with an ok lead and a better GOTV operation a strong gov candidate and he isn’t an asshole.
Having closely watched the news coverage I see the media leapt on the opportunity to dump on the dems and declare the dem incompetence was giving the Goops an opportunity. I don’t think any of that is true never really was.
I have voted. I live in a vote by mail precinct — there is a drop box in front of a near by fire station. In California people are encouraged to vote and the local boards do what they can to make it easy. The boards of elections here would supply water if people having long waits. It is so hard to imagine public officials trying to keep people from voting.

Which is why Biden is threatening a war profiteering tax. Doesn’t sound like Biden thinks it’s a win and I doubt Americans paying close to $4 a gallon for gas feel like it’s a win as Exxon announces its highest quarterly profits in the company’s 152 year history. But Democrats don’t understand economics so they shouldn’t talk about them.
