  1. The former president’s campaign staff reportedly didn’t notice the documentary crew filming at the White House before, during and after January 6th, and Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson is doing a lousy job of distancing himself from a scheme to submit fake electors to the Vice President.

  2. Wait, it’s only Thursday.  Did I miss the live hearing last night or is it tonight?

  3. There is a hearing today at 3 pm est which means I can get almost a full day of work—the cherry office and the pantry are close to completion—and still catch every last word.  Thanks Nancy, Kamala, and Biden. Keep up the good work and disregard the Nay-Sayers—merely ill winds which blow no good. 🙂

When you can get past those 2 creeps “on your side” there’ll be some good change.

    A change is gonna come.

  5. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/23/politics/mayra-flores-capitol-riot-qanon-kfile/index.html

“Newly elected Republican Congresswoman Mayra Flores spread conspiracies on social media that the January 6 riot at the US Capitol was caused by members of the far-left group Antifa and repeatedly used a hashtag of the QAnon conspiracy theory in tweets that have since been removed.”

“Flores won the special election for Texas’ 34th Congressional District last week, giving Republicans an additional seat in the House of Representatives.”

“Before running for office, Flores was a local Republican activist who tweeted under the handle “LaRepublicana86,” where she spread false claims about election fraud and immediately began suggesting on January 6, 2021, that the Capitol riot was caused by Antifa and “infiltrators.”

“Media Matters previously reported Flores had used several different QAnon slogans on Facebook and Instagram, including in at least one pro-Trump ad that ran on Facebook. Flores previously told the San Antonio Express-News that she did not believe in QAnon, saying, “I’ve always been against any of that. I’ve never been supportive of it.”

There’s a sunspot 3 times the size of the Earth , and it’s pointed right at us. If it burps out a flare we’ll all be shopping for ice, and new I-phones.
I hope they threw enough virgins in the volcano the other day .

  7. Russian Troops in Ukraine Face ‘Extraordinary’ Casualty Rates: U.K. Intelligence

As the war in Ukraine finishes its fourth month, Russian losses appear to be reaching unsustainable levels as Western officials fear a grinding, bloody war of attrition.

The Institute for the Study of War, citing the BBC’s Russian service, noted that new Russian recruits receive only three to seven days of training before being sent to “the most active sectors of the front.”
Real Stalingrad stuff if true.  They sent you into the line with no rifle , you “foraged”   a dead guy’s weapon.

  8. Jack expressed  a valid , and sadly  true doubt about these hearings, just before their start.
My misgivings were there as well.
But  that is not what is happening .  Things are cracking open  , they are  adding more days to the hearings.  We’re going into July .
All because Kevin  screwed the pooch, and boycotted  the  whole thing, and the entire committee has maintained  a discipline that congress hasn’t seen in years.
As a result ,  the wingnuts  are flyin’ blind.  They have no idea where this is going.  And that makes jaybirds sing .
Their are no Trump spies inside   ,  McCarthy   could have planted them, and blown the whole thing up.
Kevin no matter what happens in Nov,. will not be the next speaker of the house

  9. So SCOTUS confirms our worst fears about its disingenuousness and rules NYC’s requirements for a handgun permit are too onerous.  Need?  You don’t need to show us you need a gun. You can have one without any of that. WaPo.

The Supreme Court said Thursday that Americans generally have a right to carry a handgun outside the home for self-defense and that a New York law requiring special need for such a permit is too restrictive.

The vote was 6 to 3, with Justice Clarence Thomas writing for the majority and the court’s three liberals in dissent.

“The Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home,” Thomas wrote, saying New York’s requirement of a specific need to carry a weapon violates that right.

“The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not ‘a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.’ ” Thomas wrote, referring to a previous Supreme Court ruling. “We know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need.”

Now about that privacy right … we’ll deal with that soon…

  12. Given the current and probable upcoming SCOTUS decisions, this is my favorite tweet of the day.

    liked your Retweet

Maybe if we renamed vaginas to “pelvis-mounted semiautomatic baby launchers” the Supreme Court would stop regulating them altogether.
  13. A local ardent failed-coup-leader flag flyer, this week, took down his failed-coup-leader flag an replaced it with an American flag.
i can’t say revelations from the Jan. 6 committee hearings were the impetus for the disassociation, but it sure seems like the hearings are getting under republicans’ skin

  14. It’s plain that Nancy totally outfoxed McCarthy in setting up this comission.

And that fool, McCarthy, thought he was going to take her place. lol

  15. Nancy, still a chess champion playing with checkers-playing newbies.
    Italian satellites,  Ha!

  16. I was finally able to watch the hearing…   and that was interesting.
Some of it was sad and some of it was hilarious…  yup BiD…  Italian satellites!  Thank you Dept of Justice people for upholding your oaths of office!

  17. Hi OM.  I’m around – just busy.  Trying to keep up here and there.
Love the Clark story in WaPo.  Shit’s heating up.

Clark, an environmental lawyer, now works at the Center for Renewing America, a conservative advocacy group. His boss there, Russell Vought, who during the Trump administration was director of the Office of Management and Budget, offered this description of the search:
“Yesterday, more than a dozen DOJ law enforcement officials searched Jeff Clark’s house in a predawn raid, put him in the streets in his PJs, and took his electronic devices. All because Jeff saw fit to investigate voter fraud. This is not America, folks. … We stand by Jeff and so must all patriots in this country.”
Clark’s attorney, Harry W. MacDougald, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Bwahahahah.  Let me get this straight, the Trump OMB director (not involved with voting) is standing up for a mid level DOJ environmental lawyer (again, not involved with voting) and claiming that the FBI searching his home regarding a plot to install  fake electors to overturn the will fo the voters in 5 states “is not America” and that Clark is patriot?  Yep, I’ll bet Clark’s attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.  And PJs? Clark does strike me as a PJ type.  It did make me think that maybe I should get some PJs in case a knock comes on my door some night – I’d just be standing there in underwear otherwise.

  18. Former Solicitor General Neil Katyal on MSNBC: “Donald Trump is not fit not only to be president of this country, but even to be in this country.”

  19. I know that trump is a moron…
but now I know that unequivocally that trump is an utter fucking moron!

  20. It’s pretty clear to me that hell is coming to breakfast with the militia-types regardless of indict-him-or-don’t-indict-him.   This is a boil which has long been begging to be lanced.   My most hopeful conviction is that most of those guys will turn to shit in front of a Judge or a real army.

  21. oooooh……Olbermann says Andrea Mitchell has lost the ability to perceive the present reality of american politics and needs to be retired.

  23. https://www.newsweek.com/keith-olbermann-supreme-court-twitter-rant-reactions-1718631

“…Keith Olbermann is facing backlash after tweeting that “[i]t has become necessary to dissolve” the U.S. Supreme Court following the Court’s ruling regarding a New York case that could help shape the national framework on gun laws.”

Well, they didn’t acknowledge the “regulated militia” clause, so SCOTUS has lost a lot of credibility.

I love NY. Those saying how gritty and scary it is now, well, they should’ve seen it 30 or 40 years ago. However, if a gun is the hottest accessory, it’s going to play havoc with tourism.

Republicans have blood on their hands, once again. They are the death party.

ps – Sturg, I didn’t see anything about your KO posts.

  24. So, if SCOTUS says states aren’t capable in the case of guns, how are they going to say states are capable in the case of a woman’s right to choose?
Can they have it both ways? Are tRUMPsky’s picks destroying SCOTUS from the inside?  Everything he touches dies, so maybe his dirty fingerprints have undone one branch of government.

  25. OM – American Utopia was the best, live show I’ve ever seen.  Neither just a concert, nor a typical Broadway musical.  I went many times, as did others I know. We all had a great time, every time, except one friend who just didn’t get it.
Everything is wireless.  The guitar player had no pedals; a tech behind the chains handled the pedals.

When I visited my dad this spring, I picked up all of his electric guitars. Having only played acoustic, I was shocked at how heavy they were.  I can’t imagine carting a guitar (or drums) for a 90 minute show.  The band was absolutely amazing; the sound quality was fantastic from everywhere in the theater, although front row required earplugs (the cymbals – ouch).

Thanks for the world tour clip; not in the Broadway show.

The next show I want to see this fall is POTUS.

  26. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/23/politics/samuel-alito-stephen-breyer-guns/index.html

“Justice Alito is ignoring the fact that in addition to striking down New York’s law the Court is announcing a new standard for Second Amendment cases unlike anything the court has ever applied before,” said Jonathan Lowy, chief counsel at Brady. He said the new standard is going to apply to “every sort of gun law going forward.”

If SCOTUS wants to ignore the “well-regulated militia” clause, then states should regulate the hell out of them, if they don’t live under Republican control.
