Save the Dates

Planning your June calendar? Make sure to leave room for prime-time history. Order in those super-size buckets of popcorn, plenty of ice and beverages.

Excerpt from today’s The Guardian:

According to the draft schedule, the June public hearings will explore Trump’s efforts to overturn the election, starting and ending with prime time hearings at 8pm on the 9th and the 23rd. In between, the panel will hold 10am hearings on the 13th, 15th, 16th and 21st.

The select committee appears to be planning for the hearings to be extensive affairs. The prime time hearings are currently scheduled to last between 1.5 and 2 hours and the morning hearings between 2 and 2.5 hours.

A select committee member will lead each of the hearings, the sources said, but top investigative lawyers who are intimately familiar with the material will primarily conduct the questioning of witnesses to keep testimony tightly on track.

As the witnesses – most of whom are being subpoenaed to appear at the hearings – give evidence that the panel believes will show how Trump and some allies violated the law, committee attorneys will simultaneously flash texts, photos and videos to illustrate the testimony, the sources said.

  1. george on some of those same insurrectionists now running for office and more

George Conway tells CNN’s Jim Acosta that CPAC’s decision to hold their conference in Hungary is a sign the Conference is “heading toward full fascist.” #CNN #News

  2. Will Faux News provide alternate programming on those days?  Or, will they air the hearings with a large font, noise crawl spewing lies…or one that simply loops the words “witch hunt”?  Who is the point man to counter or follow hearing programming? Will it be Fluffy “Goebbels” Carlson or some other fascist schmuck posing as an American journalist?

“After his loss, Cawthorn tweeted ambiguously about the rise of an apparent political faction within the Make America Great Again banner, calling it “Dark MAGA.”

“It’s time for the rise of the new right, it’s time for Dark MAGA to truly take command,” Cawthorn said in an Instagram post. “We have an enemy to defeat, but we will never be able to defeat them until we defeat the cowardly and weak members of our own party. Their days are numbered. We are coming.”

Ya know how the Buffalo shooter was indoctrinated with right wingnut hate? Well, it sure sounds like Maddie has been drinking the same, violent, kool aid.

  4. Some years in the future.
MTG sady reflects:  “Geez, all i had to do was keep my big fat yap shut and maybe try to do something or other for my constituents —  I coulda been there forever.”

People like that……does it ever dawn on ‘em ?

  5. Which girl has beauty, which has grace?
which has her hate etched into her face?
which girl would you ask to the prom?

  6. The Watergate hearings were a big hit about fifty years ago (yeah, scary is that thought).  Will this version be as exciting?  Is there a hidden secret as deadly as the “tapes”?  Will it cause SFB to go off into the night? I doubt there is anything that can do that, but it maybe have the same result if he ends up in Florence, CO.

  7. After all this time (in the Deep South), I know “what” it is.  I just can’t figure out the “why”.  That eludes me.

  8. The more he skated, the faster he went……Now he’s moving at the speed of light and the only thing to stop him is a big fat mc-squared.  I hope they got one of those in their quiver.  I watched old Waddygate a lot.  And Bush1’s splendid little war. And the OJ trial, top to bottom.
    “MIST-ter FUHR-man…”
I’m gonna watch this one, too, and keep my eye out for square mc’s.

  9. former loser guy yesterday on his wannabe-twitter-net shared a “call for civil war.” that is just one more example for DOJ to note when drafting their hopefully coming indictment charges his intent to coup

  10. I love the look on Bailey’s face when he actually realizes what Fuhrman has just said—that he’d NEVER EVER used the n-word. Bailey and them have him on tape using it.  In a “context” but using it just the same.  Bailey was momentarily pole-axed right between the eyes.

  11. His dumber minions have been snowflaking butt-hurt civil war yapping forever.  He must follow them for he is their leader.

  12. Seems like that Conway woman is trying to dismantle him much like you would a big Lego statue after you’re through playing with it.

  13. Haven’t (and won’t) read Kellyann’s tell all, but I did see an article on it that said while she took shots at almost all those around TFG, she did not ready, aim, fire at TFG.  Figures.

Had a run-in yesterday with a very sturdy branch that juts out into my yard from a right of way between my house and the house next door while I was rushing to get the north 40 mowed before the rain rolled through. I thought, OW, that’s gonna leave a mark.  It did.  Mrs. P told me to tell the judge in my afternoon hearing today that we had a disagreement and that she prevailed.  Better story than the truth.

  14. She fired at him at least twice….one that he tried to have sex with her and she refused, and the other that he was going to quit after the “grab em” tape but she talked him into hangin’ in.  Both sure to leave a burr under his saddle.

  15. a bigly burr, sturge.

and expect him to hit back bigly-er at her (and george just for kicks) with some sort of “not my type” snarl.

  16. The OJ trial turned out as expected. I am a native Angelino and totally aware of the police department’s interaction with the black community.  My only comment after the fact was, “Of course they screwed up the conviction, the police tried to frame a guilty man.”

  17. Well, i caught whatever bug is going around Cali, first time being sick in 3 years, do not enjoy😭
    …not COVID, took a test

  18. Pog……yep, taking it down like a Lego statue… little piece at a time  🙂
She’s just getting started, she’s got an important ass to save—her own. lol

  19. She also might be letting him know what other cats she might just let out of the old Conbag

  20. tRUMPsky calling for civil war?  Sounds like a domestic terrorist to me.

  21. Dear Joe Namath,
Are there some zip codes which are ineligible?     Asking for a friend.

  22. What’s Broadway Joe selling, now? Gold funds, catheters, or reverse mortgages?

  23. Medicare supplement insurance.  They’d like for you to feel very special if your zip code is somehow magically APPROVED.

  24. I’m glad to see all those old dorks getting nice gigs in their declining years. It’s hell being broke.

  25. I did not know he was still alive.  But, he was from an era that did not pay well and did not do anything for the talent in the future. ESPN has cleaned house of expenses, sometimes labeled ‘the talent’.
Back when he was playing I lived around the corner from several Detroit Lions players.  Middle class.  Not a lot of money.  He was not making a lot more than they were.  Sad is that for many linemen the same is true.

“Fourteen Republican members of the state House of Representatives have pledged to introduce bills in the coming legislative session that would bar corporations from doing business in Texas if they pay for abortions in states where the procedure is legal.”

“This would explicitly prevent firms from offering employees access to abortion-related care through health insurance benefits. It would also expose executives to criminal prosecution under pre-Roe anti-abortion laws the Legislature never repealed, the legislators say.”

“But doing so would likely mean targeting companies that the state has wooed as potential job creators. Tesla, for instance, announced this month that it would pay for employees’ travel costs when they leave the state to get an abortion. Abbott celebrated the electric car company’s move to Austin last year and this year urged its CEO, Elon Musk, to move Twitter’s headquarters to Texas, too, if he completes his purchase of the social media firm.”

I hope big events and sports teams boycott Texas. It’ll be nothing but NASCAR races down here.

“Leveraging their contacts network to establish transport routes into the country, and supported by disaster relief nonprofits on the ground, they began by sending LED lighting equipment and headlamps to hospitals, before expanding the program to include portable solar microgrids, which can recharge the LED kit as well as other essential medical and communications equipment. They also sent microgrids to a refugee camp in Moldova, a country bordering Ukraine which suddenly found itself hosting tens of thousands of people fleeing the war.”

“It’s these last items, the solar microgrids, which are being touted as a game-changer in disaster relief settings.”
