History: His-story and Her-story are Our stories

“Madame Speaker. Madam Vice President.”

“No president has ever said those words from this podium, and it’s about time.”

  1. A picture that’s sure to make racists and misogynists shudder.
I’ll say it, again.  I love POTUS Joe.
How does Tim Scott live with himself?  Biden’s plan will help his constituents.

  2. in case you missed it, fell asleep in the midst or just want to read it to spot favorite passages here’s

Full text: Biden’s speech before a joint session of Congress – CBS News

and an excerpt worth repeating and repeating:

Our Constitution opens with the words, “We the People”.

It’s time we remembered that We the People are the government. You and I.

Not some force in a distant capital. Not some powerful force we have no control over.

It’s us. It’s “We the people.”

  3. Well, if it was just one hundred days, what have the gqp cult been moaning about when they said “Biden has not accomplished anything he talked about getting done in one hundred days” two months ago?

The shame of Tim Scott.  In history there are few so far out of touch as he.  There are gay people who are gqp cult members, but they are in it for the money and are unable to see that the gqp hates them and would likely kill them if not for the greed.  There used to be a Republican Party and Black people were members of that party.  But that was long ago and that political party no longer exists.  Shame on Tim Scott, may he realize the cult he is a member of do not like him.

  4. I just went back and re-read Tim Scott’s rebuttal.  You can’t accuse him of being unable to hold 2 thoughts at one time.

I have experienced the pain of discrimination. I know what it feels like to be pulled over for no reason. To be followed around a store while I’m shopping.

Then a bit later in his speech –

You know this stuff is wrong. Hear me clearly: America is not a racist country. It’s backwards to fight discrimination with different types of discrimination. And it’s wrong to try to use our painful past to dishonestly shut down debates in the present.

I guess that means America is not a racist country, it’s just full of racist people?

  5. I loved that speech last night….  and yes…  I even managed to stay awake.

I watched a few minutes of the Republican rebuttal….  went to bed after giving it the mighty finger.

  6. Sturg, I’m thinking this Liz Cheney as reasonable Republican thing is just a head fake. I can’t imagine she is, nuts not falling far from the tree and all.

  7. I dig that, no doubt…..but so far I’m liking the head fake.   I’m sure it’ll pass. That fist bump was just a needle to the audience of one (or two) and well played.

  8. the hill:

Biden argued in a speech to a joint session of Congress that if you “talk to most responsible gun owners and hunters,” they will “tell you there’s no possible justification for having 100 rounds in a weapon.”

The president then went off-script and added,“What do you think — deer are wearing Kevlar vests?” prompting laughter from lawmakers.

The remark, which White House press secretary Jen Psaki later confirmed on Twitter was an ad-libbed line, prompted a series of memes and jokes on social media, with several users sharing edited images of deer in the woods and other grassy areas clad with bulletproof vests.

  9. Love the pic of the armed and armored deer.  I’ve always said there should be a way to level the playing field between hunters and prey.

  10. the hill:

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber,” Cohen said Giuliani knows “he’s in big trouble.”

    […]

“And here’s the interesting thing, it may start with just the Ukraine, but that’s not where it’s gonna stop because Rudy is actually a stupid guy. And Rudy has no idea about technology. He says very dumb things when especially he starts drinking and he starts wanting to be this… Tom Hagen to Donald,” said Cohen, referring to the fictional right-hand man in movie “The Godfather.”

“As they say, the chickens coming home to roost, and he knows he’s got problems,” Cohen added.

“He knows that it’s not going to end well. So, unlike what happened with me, unlike you know Manafort who took it to trial or Roger Stone who went to trial, I didn’t — I pled guilty, and I got 36 months. So he’s only right now imagining what does he have to do in order to stay out of prison because Rudy Giuliani, has no interest in being in prison during the golden years of his life, that I can assure you.”

    […]

Melber asked Cohen if he believed Trump was worried following the raid of Giuliani’s apartment.

“Yes, I think he’s scared,” Cohen said. “We have seen this before. We saw it when they came and they raided my hotel, my home and my law office… [Trump] was very angry that they had raided one of his attorney’s offices. Donald Trump doesn’t care about Rudy Giuliani. Donald Trump didn’t care about Rudy Giuliani until Rudy was actually doing free legal work for him.”

  11. Joe was amazing last night! VP and The Speaker, women was a long time in coming! I’m still angry about Hillary. I will be forever. Trump is a monster. No telling how many deaths he’s responsible for :0(
