According to the AP, Cohen refers to himself as the “star witness” of a hush-money conspiracy that could lead to charges against the president once he’s out of office.
“It never pays to settle these things, but many, many friends have advised me to pay,” Trump said, according to Cohen. “If it comes out, I’m not sure how it would play with my supporters. But I bet they’d think it’s cool that I slept with a porn star.”
    […]
Cohen reportedly writes in the book that after Trump called people crossing the border from Mexico rapists and murderers during his campaign launch in 2015, the then candidate’s children asked Cohen to convince Trump to drop out of the race because his rhetoric was “killing the company.”
Trump reportedly dismissed the concerns, claiming he “will never get the Hispanic vote.”

“Like the blacks, they’re too stupid to vote for Trump. They’re not my people,” Trump said, according to Cohen.

I suppose the actor who role played Obama for tRUMPsy had to sign an an NDA.  But wait, there’s an overhead mic in that picture.  Could there be audio?   I don’t think it’s unusual to role play to prepare for a debate, but tRUMP never had to debate Obama.  So, what was the point of this exercise?  For Orange Julius to get his jollies by belittling an actor pretending to be Obama?
Honestly, tRUMP is a nut job and, as Dan Rather noted, you can’t vote twice, but you can impeach the bastard twice.
Still praying for that lighting storm on the links, with crime family in tow.   Hopefully, the sinking of the tRUMP boat brigada was just a warm-up for what’s to come.

Mars is big and bright and red —look to the moon and there’s Mars, too!

  4. BiD, thanks for that cnn link on cohen.  hope this quote gets some attention with the folks who consider D’ump the chosen one:

If Putin is held in the highest regard in Trump’s mind, Cohen writes, Trump’s own voters rank among those in the lowest. Speaking to Cohen after Trump gathered religious leaders at Trump Tower in the lead up to the 2012 presidential race, an encounter during which they asked to “lay hands” on him, Trump asked Cohen, according to the book: “Can you believe that bullsh*t?…Can you believe people believe that bullsh*t?”

  5. and i agree with cohen’s  last quote in that cnn piece:

But in a way perhaps even Trump could appreciate, Cohen reserves some of his harshest judgment for the media, which he blames for falling for Trump’s attention-grabbing tactics and propelling him to office.
“Donald Trump’s presidency is a product of the free press,” he writes. “Not free as in freedom of expression, I mean free as unpaid for. Rallies broadcast live, tweets, press conferences, idiotic interviews, 24-7 wall-to-wall coverage, all without spending a penny. The free press gave America Trump.”
“Right, left, moderate, tabloid, broadsheet, television, radio, Internet, Facebook — that is who elected Trump and might well elect him again.”

  6. Well now. The leader in the king of the mountains competition is off the back of the pack on the longest Cat1 climb of the day. The polka dot jersey will change hands today.

Hahahahahaha. Dumbass is starting to lose Faux

Jennifer Griffin defended by Fox News colleagues after Trump Twitter attack over confirmation of Atlantic reporting

Jennifer Griffin caused an unexpected media firestorm Friday when she did something fairly routine for a reporter: A competitor had broken a story on her beat, so she set out to see whether she could match it.

In this case, it was the Atlantic’s blockbuster report that President Trump had made disparaging remarks about veterans. Griffin, a national security correspondent for Fox News, found sources to validate key aspects of the story, sharing her reporting on Twitter and on anchor Bret Baier’s news show.

Other beat reporters had confirmed aspects of the Atlantic story, too. But the fact that Griffin works for Fox, whose opinion hosts and corporate owners are seen as reliable supporters and defenders of the president, turned her revelations into a watershed development. It led to Trump’s call for her firing late Friday on Twitter — and an impassioned pushback from Fox News colleagues defending her journalistic honor.

  7. pogo, he’s still got RT*, mitch and lil lindsey to speak for him

*from wiki: RT (formerly Russia Today) is a state-controlled international television network funded by the Russian federal tax budget. It operates pay television channels directed to audiences outside of Russia, as well as providing Internet content in English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, and Russian.

  8. speaking of D’ump friendly spokes-media, bloomberg had this story 2 weeks ago:

American Media LLC’s David Pecker, the executive who oversaw the National Enquirer tabloid and was an ally to President Donald Trump during the last election, will step down as head of the company as part of a merger deal.
    […]
Pecker, 68. has been longtime friend of Trump, and he struck an immunity deal with federal prosecutors as part of an investigation into the president’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. The company entered into a related non-prosecution agreement covering crimes including perjury and obstruction of justice.
The deals stemmed from the company’s alleged efforts to aid Trump by purchasing the rights to potentially damaging stories and declining to publish them, a practice known as “catch and kill.”

sooo wonder what’s happened to that infamous safe full of goodies that pecker squirrelled away about D’ump’s various peccadillos

  9. about that Khachaturian video, hope you stayed with it long enough to see the sunlit crowd scene starting around 7:07 thru 7:32.   what a great work of combining music with photography.

  10. I visited the Thumb area of Michigan. I saw way too many Trump signs yesterday, as well as a few “MI Governor is an idiot!” signs. Although my favorite sign was a homemade sign that read: “ByeDon 2020”.

  11. As the Russian folks said about their two media outlets back in the day, Pravda and Izvestia:  There’s no truth in the news and no news in the truth.  As September 11th approaches, can we assume that Cadet Bone Spurs thought the first-responders who went into those towers were suckers, and that those who lost their lives trying save others were losers?
If there’s anyone who loved America, democracy, and/or Jesus, they should release whatever tapes they may have of Orange Julius.

  12. That ByeDon homeowner was brave to put up that sign.  (Maybe the neighbors aren’t bright and just read “Don”?)

I haven’t received my Biden/Harris mask yet, but I’m not sure I’ll have the courage to wear it before or after Joe is elected.    The MAGAts seem like they would be spitters.
Use your words and your inside voices, please.

  13. BiD, am not sure i have the courage either to put up my signs, one for biden and one for amy mcgrath.  too many gun nuts in ky.

here,  they even have machine gun tourneys (some even thought to be the circular firing squad kind).

  14. So remember, Jack, when you’re feeling very small and insecure, how amazingly unlikely is your birth; and pray that there’s intelligent life somewhere out in space, ‘cause there’s bugger all down here on Earth!

  15. the hill:

A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to temporarily stop efforts to wind down the collection of data and processing of timelines for the 2020 Census.
U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh issued a temporary restraining order late Saturday blocking Trump administration officials, including Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, from implementing plans that would shorten census efforts, including “winding down or altering any Census field operations.”
The restraining order was filed in response to a legal motion from a coalition civil rights and advocacy groups that claimed such plans would illegally impact the accuracy of the Census data and possibly inflict harm on certain communities as a result. The Census helps determine federal funding levels for state and local governments.
The restraining order will remain in effect until Sept. 17, when a court hears a separate motion for a stay and preliminary injunction.

  16. i have a theory that trump and Dejoy scrapped those sorting machines for parts to build a giant pardon-printing machine, which might behoove them to get operational very quickly.

  17. There have been a couple of interviews with a Time reporter who is trying to make herself relevant.    Instead she is is stupid and venal.

  18. wapo:

Louis DeJoy’s prolific campaign fundraising, which helped position him as a top Republican power broker in North Carolina and ultimately as head of the U.S. Postal Service, was bolstered for more than a decade by a practice that left many employees feeling pressured to make political contributions to GOP candidates — money DeJoy later reimbursed through bonuses, former employees say.
Five people who worked for DeJoy’s former business, New Breed Logistics, say they were urged by DeJoy’s aides or by the chief executive himself to write checks and attend fundraisers at his 15,000-square-foot gated mansion beside a Greensboro, N.C., country club. There, events for Republicans running for the White House and Congress routinely fetched $100,000 or more apiece.
Two other employees familiar with New Breed’s financial and payroll systems said DeJoy would instruct that bonus payments to staffers be boosted to help defray the cost of their contributions, an arrangement that would be unlawful.
    […]
Another former employee with knowledge of the process described a similar series of events, saying DeJoy orchestrated additional compensation for employees who had made political contributions, instructing managers to award bonuses to specific individuals.
“He would ask employees to make contributions at the same time that he would say, ‘I’ll get it back to you down the road,’ ” said the former employee, who, like others interviewed for this report, spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retribution from DeJoy.
    […]
Although it can be permissible to encourage employees to make donations, reimbursing them for those contributions is a violation of North Carolina and federal election laws. Known as a straw-donor scheme, the practice allows donors to evade individual contribution limits and obscures the true source of money used to influence elections.
Such federal violations carry a five-year statute of limitations. There is no statute of limitations in North Carolina for felonies, including campaign finance violations.

  19. when wondering about what D’ump has done for vlad, consider these numbers discussed back in sept. by  david leonhardt oped NYTimes:

Here’s a jarring thought experiment: If the United States had done merely an average job of fighting the coronavirus — if the U.S. accounted for the same share of virus deaths as it did global population — how many fewer Americans would have died?
    The answer: about 145,000.
    That’s a large majority of the country’s 183,000 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths.
No other country looks as bad by this measure. The U.S. accounts for 4 percent of the world’s population, and for 22 percent of confirmed Covid-19 deaths. It is one of the many signs that the Trump administration has done a poorer job of controlling the virus than dozens of other governments around the world.

are those estimated 145,000 avoidable deaths not just casualties caused by ineptness, stupendous stupidity and lack of compassion OR are they victims of a strange new form of warfare?  could D’ump indeed be in cahoots with (or the useful idiot of) an old time adversary bent on destroying this country?

compare 145,000 deaths in 6 months to the 58,209 american military deaths in the 20 years of the vietnam war to see my point of a new way to wage war without the enemy ever having to send troops. only took 1 idiotic nutball.

  20. crackers – Good point about Cohen/Russians/Prague.  Was the poisoning of Navalny a message to Mickey C? Donald?  Lindsey?  ???

  21. Bink – Mars was right next to the moon…~that’s only like a 45-minute commuter shuttle away.~It’s a Violent Femmes/Strokes/Ramones/Old 97’s kind of day here.

  22. Wilbur Ross – Democrat – US Russian Trust – USRF/Delta Private Equity – Deutsche Bank – Trump 2016 – Republican -Wilbur Ross

  23. New York (CNN Business)Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, said his magazine’s story about Trump calling Americans who died in battle “losers” and “suckers,” was just the tip of the iceberg.

  24. Well, out with it if you’ve got more dirt on tRUMP.  Voting starts early in some places.  Let’s get this show in the road!

  25. This here thread is a love letter to Mr Jack, but we’ve all been to damned shy to call it by its proper name.

I hope you’re feeling strength, vitality and some pain relief today, Mr Jack. I hope you are feeling the love being beamed at you.

  26. So SFB says the military has benefitted from his reign.    What about the money he stole from he military for the stupid wall.  Money for schools and other necessities

  27. The US military is overcome with gratitude for trump letting them conquer Syria – and then giving it to the russians.

  28. 193, 207 Americans dead of C19.
    LBJ : We’ve turned a corner
    nixon : We’ve turned a corner
    george w bush : We’ve turned a corner
    trump : We’ve turned a corner

What they all failed to admit was, when they turned the corner they all knew that they were completely lost.

  29. More than half of likely voters, 52 percent, said they would cast their ballots for Biden, and 42 percent said they would support Trump, according to a CBS News-YouGov pollreleased Sunday. The poll found 3 percent said they are “not sure” who they would vote for, and 3 percent said they would vote for someone else.

The American swing voter  is as dead as  Julius Caesar.

  30. Funny how the world’s “dream factory” , has turned into  hot ashes  and nightmares.
This breaks my heart , that California  dream  has fueled it’s own demise.

  31. The polling ……………….  I hope my gut is right , the young are coming to the polls  this year.  And they ain’t in the polls,  whether  we like it or not this season has been a giant civics lesson ,  for us all .  And the young  voters  are the key.  And they have a lot on their plate,  I never spent one day of my school years  thinking I could be murdered in class.  These new voters grew up in that shadow,
I have high hopes  for the turn out , there’s a lot  pissed off   18 to 30 year olds  with a lot of time on there hands.
That metric ain’t being measured  at all.

  32. Trump’s boat rallies  are very telling about us ,

  33. Mules , a female  is called a “Jenny”  a male is called a “Jack”.
There is a lot of mule  in our friend Jack.

  34. Years ago I came across  this picture  from the Comstock  Load.
A mule about to  descend  into the Earth forever.  He was on his back in this giant canvas sling  , feet pointed skyward , he was  looking right at the camera.
How they did this  I have no clue, but they did.  The Romans  bred the first mules , Washington was the first in America.
Mules have been a source  of  strength for thousands of years.
Being named Jack has been a source  of  strength for thousands of years.

  35. The Cohen book drops Tuesday.
How come all these felons  and liars were  drawn to working for Trump?
I mean he has told us he’s a stable genius.  How could he hire  these people?

Biden’s first question at the debates.

  36. They hurled every charge at  Cohen  possible.
But he worked for 10 years.  If he is that bad ?  Why was working for Trump for ten years ?
Cohen knows where  the bodies are buried.  He’s going to peel Trump like an artichoke.

  37. In coming  the shelling of president.  One does not attack  if one is under shelling inside the wire.
And the rounds are landing  every minute.  And these dogs  have know idea  how to fight back.
They are  on the ropes. With a bleeder above Trump’s left eye.

    Punch , Punch, Punch.
