  1. so  will the Jacksonville convention be his grand finale show?  Rump, in triumph basking in the  insane cheering as they announce him their official nominee, does a last hurrah? with glitzy balloons descending from heaven, he proclaims “Job done. I made America great again, I’m outta here!” and is transported in a golden chariot off the stage.

this lets him say he’s already a winner. continuing with the election, he risks forever being labeled a loser.

all the above can only be accomplished after making a deal with pence for a pardon and a big military parade in his honor.

  2. Trump's pandemic chaos — why's he doing this? Waging war on America Eric Boehlert

As America once again plunges into a pandemic crisis, with Covid-19 infections exploding across the country, and especially in red states, Trump continues to plot against America’s best interests. Refusing to provide any leadership over the last three months, he’s made the crisis actively worse by urging Americans not to wear masks,  promoting dangerous “cures,” ruminating about injecting patients with disinfectants, undercutting government scientists, ordering vital testing regimes to be  “slow[ed] down”, or halted all together, walking away from a national tracing program, filling marathon pandemic briefings with ceaseless misinformation, making empty promises about testing, and constantly lying about the state of the crisis, insisting the deadly virus would soon “disappear,” “like a miracle.” This is treasonous behavior.

  3. tRUMP’s ego must be in complete turmoil.   If he runs, he loses.  If he doesn’t run, he can say he won every election he was in…but he has to find a way out to save orange face.

  4. Rump has to be shook when even his big time supporters say things like this as reported by the hill:

Ed Rollins, the chairman of the Great America PAC, a top outside group supporting the president’s reelection, said the course correction starts with Trump. He said the president faces certain defeat if he does not convey more compassion and focus on a message that expands his coalition to include women and independents.
“The message is weak or nonexistent. The rambling on about Biden and Pelosi or Clinton and Obama is old and tired. This needs to be about the future, not the past,” Rollins said.
“He needs to show empathy, which he hasn’t, and project strength by doing what Reagan, Thatcher and Churchill did with strong speeches. Not macho bullshit, but thoughtful solutions to serious problems. This is about the future, not what the Democrats did in the past. Make people be concerned with what [Democrats] can do with total control of the government, House, Senate and the White House.”

  5. supporter Ed’s gonna be a tweet target with his negative discription of Rump ways of campaigning and with words like  “weak or nonexistent…. rambling on about Biden and Pelosi or Clinton and Obama is old and tired….Not macho bullshit”

  6. Given the GOP’s talent for cheating and suppression, this is no time to be wallowing in complacency.  Whatever the orange SOB does, Democrats need to vote as if their lives depend on it.

  7. jamie, their/our lives literally depend on it.

message has to get out and sink in that not voting or voting for 3rd party is a vote for Rump

  8. Can you pitch-in now?

Do you stand with the coward or the commander?"Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us." —General James MattisCan you contribute $13 to put this powerful ad in front of more voters?

  9. flatus, thanks for the video. sounded like an old reagan performance.  was it?

unfortunately some of the anti-maskers are mis-using that Washington quote about an American would rather die on his feet than live on his knees.   they seem to also think the rest of us would choose death rather than make them cover their pieholes now and then with masks.

  10. speaking of the pandemic politics, this from mediaite:

George Conway and Geraldo Rivera got into a heated Twitter back-and-forth over President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
On Tuesday, in response to Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale slamming Joe Biden for holding no press conferences in weeks, Conway — husband to White House counselor Kellyanne Conway — fired back bringing up the president’s comments about coronavirus.
“It’s been 118 days since @realDonaldTrump said covid-19 cases “would go down to zero,” 61 days since he suggested doctors inject household cleaning solutions into people, 3 days since he said he slowed down testing, and 6 hours since he said he wasn’t kidding about that,” he tweeted.
Rivera fired back accusing “punk” Conway of “rooting for the fucking virus”
They continued into Wednesday afternoon with Conway tweeting “it’s better to be a punk than a hack”

An interesting mythic re-creation. Although the real story would have been more dramatic. For they flew 2 flags over fort McHenry. A night flag which was a battle flag then in the morning they ran up the Stars and Stripes. After a night of naval shelling It would have been a very dramatic, fuck you, moment.
So you can see why Key was so inspired. It was one of those little moments not that important but for a reeling nation as the US was at the time you take what you can find. After all they had just burned the Whitehouse.
I’m not sure why right wingers feel the need to embellish what is naturally dramatic.

  12. Now that the far right wing nuts have a new playground, parler, I wait with bated breath for the fun stuff to bubble out of it.  There will be fruitcake for the nutters, but it will die out just like the previous hell holes for them.  They only talk to themselves in it.  The rest of the world, who they are trying to fleece, is still on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit and at least a dozen more sites.  With no reason to go into the stink, even if curious.  It is like going into Red State, World Net Daily or Free state,  those are set up for the nut jobs why do they need another?

  13. Hey, remember in 2016 when all the polls, all summer and all fall, had Hillary Clinton up big, and then a depraved ignoramus actually won?

  14. lol BB, in like, two weeks that site is going to become a repository for the worst kinds of hate-speech and all those GOP politicians promoting it will have to “distance” themselves from it.

  15. I’ve decided to learn to sing the Star Spangled Banner – as soon as it is rescored into my note.

  16. Bink…  Hillary Clinton had a high unfavorable rating…  the right did a magnificent job in trying to destroy her.  Trump was a complete unknown in how he’d govern.  Joe ain’t Hillary…  and now we know how trump would govern… it ain’t pretty.  With that said…  everyone needs to get out and vote.

  17. Well, we all vote, here.  We need to get the sideline-sitters in our lives to do so, also.

    (i’m trying- it’s so difficult😭)

  18. So how serious is the covid- 19 breakout? The Whitehouse is doing a task force presser.
    Jack

  19. KGC
As LBJ learned in his first Senate run you never go to bed before the vote is in and official. You never know when you may need to steal a few more votes..
    Jack

  20. Gotta love you tube, was never a fan of Simon and Garfunkle’s Sound of Silence, But this version  with  Dylan and Paul  Simon is mind blowing.

  21. Oh, btw, if precipitously declining poll numbers for trump get him to resign as soon as possible, i suppose there is a value in quoting them.

  22. Lets keep Trump right where he is at. Much more danger in wrapping his ideas in a pleasant personality there by giving legitimacy to them.
    Jack

  23. Bink, the pollsters were right about Hillary.  She did win by exactly the percentage they predicted by over three million votes.  Unfortunately those were national polls, not state polls counted by the Electoral college where she “lost” by about 70,000 votes spread over three states.  This is why I consider the anachronistic, slave & agriculture based EC an abomination that is getting more and more out of sync with national desires governed more by suburbs than farmland.

    STurgeone

The Star Spangled Banner as played as a bar song and now played for display of the original key is a high baritone.  Somewhere along the line it got slowed down and pitched for screeching sopranos.

  24. Twice Pence uses First Amendment to defend maskless Trump rallies. Sorry dumb ass, freedom of speech  is not a right to recklessly endanger others.

  25. I looked at that video and thought, I didn’t know Dylan was that tall.  As it turns out I didn’t know Simon was that short:  5’7″ vs. 5’3″

  26. Sonoma County numbers jumped up 40 percent in the last two weeks to 1000
I don’t think we will be going out again anytime soon

  27. how does a flimsy cloth mask keep anyone from speaking?
in addition to speaking thru it, one can emblesh a mask with favorite political & religious symbols and slogans thus enhancing their 1st amendment entitlements.

  28. okay, there is an instance where i’ll cut pence some slack on his claim about freedom of speech being curtailed by masks.  it would be a problem if  your only audience were hearing impaired lipreaders.

  29. Let us suppose that there are nuclear weapons. I presume that polecat pence would not sign on to be the last president. Besides, mommy wouldn’t let him evaporate the grandkids.

I entertain no such cheery presumption about emperor trump, ‘ O ! What a tv star the world is losing ! ‘

  30. et tu, WSJ?

    the hill:

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board in a Thursday night op-ed slammed President Trump for not articulating a clear vision for a second term, with the 130-year-old publication warning the incumbent of defeat in November and taking the Republican majority in the Senate with him.
“President Trump may soon need a new nickname for ‘Sleepy Joe’ Biden. How does President-elect sound?” the board wrote. “On present trend that’s exactly what Mr. Biden will be on Nov. 4, as Mr. Trump heads for what could be an historic repudiation that would take the Republican Senate down with him.
“Mr. Trump refuses to acknowledge what every poll now says is true: His approval rating has fallen to the 40 percent or below that is George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter territory,” it continues.
    […]
“Now the election is four months away, voters know him very well, and Mr. Trump has reverted to his worst form,” the board notes. “His record fighting the coronavirus is better than his critics claim after a bad start in late February and March. He mobilized federal resources to help hard-hit states, especially New York.
“But he wasted his chance to show leadership by turning his daily pandemic pressers into brawls with the bear-baiting press and any politician who didn’t praise him to the skies,” it added. “Lately he has all but given up even talking about the pandemic when he might offer realism and hope about the road ahead even as the country reopens. His default now is defensive self-congratulation.”
    […]
“Perhaps Mr. Trump lacks the self-awareness and discipline to make this case. He may be so thrown off by his falling polls that he simply can’t do it,” it concludes.

  31. 127,000.

trump’s present message is ambiguous. It can be interpreted as meaning that testing finds C19 or that testing actually causes C19. I’m sure the latter is the intention.

I think that by inauguration day we’ll probably have between a half million and a million dead.

  32. Fuck the wsj editorial board and the wooly mammoth they road in on.  They have no business warning trump to re-invent himself.  It’s treason, and on that trump and I can finally agree.

  33. Courts rule: military funds cannot be diverted to wall-building.
Niece can publish book on dumbass.

  34. XR, well, yes, fuggem, but they are in a large and growing club of republicans who can see what they believe is the proverbial writing on the proverbial wall.

So, Mr. Pence (and god knows Pense would not be the apt spelling of his name) I assume that right to free speech and right to assemble would also apply to the protesters who your administration had forceably removed from Lafayette Park so that your boss could go out and fake the exercise of freedom of religion?

  35. Shame doesn’t work. Reasoning doesn’t work. Pointing out their lies and hypocrisies doesn’t work.  Begging them doesn’t work. “Playing fair” doesn’t work. Showing them the rules doesn’t work.  The only thing which works with them is their utter defeat.

  36. James Carville:
My guess is today @parscale is taking a long drive in the luxury car he bought after fleecing the Trump family into thinking he has a grand plan. Open the top and enjoy the ride downhill son. It’s not gonna be pretty.

  37. Pence touring COVID hot spots.  Plans to take Birx with him.  He’s headed to the big, Baptist church in Dallas…and that church should lose its tax-exempt status, too.

  38. where are all those GOP pro lifers?  why aren’t they holding protests about the Rump’s 124,000 covid victims?

  39. critterville follies today reported by wapo:

The partisan fight over mask-wearing spilled over onto Capitol Hill Friday, during a hearing of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, because Democrats wore masks and some Republicans did not.
At one point, Raskin accused Republican members who were maskless of provoking “terror and fear in your colleagues and perhaps your staff.”
Raskin criticized Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) in particular, who is known for going jacketless, saying that going without a jacket is “a fashion statement,” but not wearing a mask is a “public health menace.”
Republicans, several of whom had worn masks into the hearing room before taking them off, contended that they could practice social distancing safely while seated maskless at the dais.
“We are six feet apart. We don’t need a mask,” said Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.), a physician.
House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.) threatened to end the practice of holding in-person hearings — something Republicans have demanded — if they don’t wear masks.
“I will stay in the safety of my home as I would ask all you to do,” Clyburn said.

  40. TT – Have you noticed more Lone Star flags than usual?  Maybe I’m projecting, but could it be a proxy,  confederate flag?

  41. Mrs P saw Pence making his absolutely stupid shit comments and she had more than a few “choice” words. Gawdalmighty is that one dumb sumbitch.
