  1. It may not be the end. It may not even be the beginning of the end. But, it is the end of the beginning. – Sir Winston Churchill

  2. Seriously, republicans in war paint ? I thought they were supposed to represent the culture of the Pilgrims rather than the Iroquois of 1620.

  3. Why aren’t attacks sticking to Biden the way they did Hillary? Because he's a man
    ERIC BOEHLERT

The Times claims the pandemic and weeks of Black Lives Matter street protests have thwarted Trump’s attempt to turn Biden into a “swamp” creature like Clinton. But that ignores the pivotal role gender plays in American politics. And it ignores the fact that sexist campaign coverage was a key reason Trump was elected president. News outlets don’t want to dwell on those uncomfortable topics, or dwell on their role in securing Trump’s win, so journalists scratch their heads and wonder why the Trump jabs aren’t landing like they did four years ago.

  4. Biden Takes Dominant Lead as Voters Reject Trump on Virus and Race A New York Times/Siena College poll finds that Joseph R. Biden Jr. is ahead of the president by 14 points, leading among women and nonwhite voters and cutting into his support with white voters.

Mr. Biden leads Mr. Trump by enormous margins with black and Hispanic voters, and women and young people appear on track to choose Mr. Biden by an even wider margin than they favored Hillary Clinton over Mr. Trump in 2016. But the former vice president has also drawn even with Mr. Trump among male voters, whites and people in middle age and older — groups that have typically been the backbones of Republican electoral success, including Mr. Trump’s in 2016.

  5. As the RNC preps for Jacksonville, voters brace for coronavirus and social unrest

Jacksonville voters surveyed gave Gov. Ron DeSantis, President Donald Trump’s top ally in the state, a job approval rating of 48 percent and a disapproval rating of 50 percent.
Trump fared the worst among those surveyed, with a 61 percent disapproval rating.
Trump, who carried Duval County by 1.4 percentage points in 2018, trailed his Democratic opponent Joe Biden by 7 points in the UNF poll.
Duval County has been trending blue, like many urban areas in the U.S. and DeSantis lost it by 4.3 percentage points in 2018.

  6. Jamie, who knows what that is?  I’m not a believer or a skeptic – I’m a Nessie agnostic.  So far, I’m not convinced.

So SFB attempted to infect what was described at Politico as a crowd of hundreds of young people in a church in Arizona.  WEll, according to him that would be just fine because they just get the sniffles and recover quickly.  Sounds about right for our idiot president.  But good idea as far as packing a place – just choose a small capacity venue et voila it is crowded.

  7. NBCnews:

WASHINGTON — The Lincoln Project, a super PAC founded by a group of veteran Republican strategists, is best known for its viral anti-Trump ads spread across social media and even aired on television. And while the group has also targeted individual GOP senators up for re-election this cycle for supporting President Trump, it’s inserting itself more directly into upcoming races by endorsing a Senate candidate for the first time — Montana Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock.
In an ad obtained by NBC News and set to be released Wednesday, the group gives its endorsement to Bullock in his race against Republican Sen. Steve Daines.
    […]
The Lincoln Project says it’s spending north of a $100,000 dollars on the ad, which is set to air across several Montana media markets on both broadcast and cable television from Wednesday through the end of the week. The spot will also be released on digital and social platforms.
Its release comes just days after the Cook Political Report changed its rating of the contest from “lean Republican” to “toss-up.”

As to whether the group plans to release more ads endorsing Democratic candidates in competitive Senate races in the future, Galen responded that: “You’ll have to wait and see.”

  8. Forget polls – in the “money where your mouth is” poll – betting odds – Biden’s betting odds lead is now up to 16.9% from when the odds lines crossed on June 2.  He took a 2 or so point drop last week but has recovered and gained 5 points since June 18.  Since SFB is all about the money, this should cause him great consternation.

  9. Well, Flynn may skate.  Wapo.

Appeals court orders judge to dismiss criminal case against Michael Flynn

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan cannot scrutinize the Justice Department’s decision to drop its long-running prosecution of President Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn and must dismiss the case, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday.

In a 2-1 decision, the court said it is not within the judge’s power to prolong the prosecution or examine the government’s motives for its reversal in the politically charged case. Flynn twice pleaded guilty to lying to federal agents about his pre-inauguration contacts with Russia’s ambassador before the Justice Department moved in May to dismiss the charges.

I’d suggest en banc review of that decision.

  10. I had no intention of poking Mr Sturgeon, Mr Pogo. I mean, you know how gets when he’s roused.

  11. We are nearing or over capacity of ICU beds in some place, but ~we have plenty of beds.~
TX is open for business, but ~stay home.~
Some jobs are never coming back, but ~you must look for a new job to get unemployment benefits while staying home.~
Gov. Abbott, Texans will remember your ineptitude.   A gathering of 100 causes harm, just like a gathering of 500. Folks will get sick and die.  The numbers might be different, but the personal result will be the same. https://www.texastribune.org/2020/06/23/texas-coronavirus-hospitalizations-icu-houston/

  12. I can’t believe that the original intent of the founding fathers was to let crooks off with clean records just because the Attorney General wants to let the guy go AFTER he’s been convicted. At least flynn should spend a night in the pokey before he’s given a commutation, and then arrested under the Espionage and Logan Acts. Not to mention contempt of court and perjury.

  13. XR, but….~ he was treated very unfairly ~.  I think I’m safe say that no white retired general who pleaded guilty TWICE to lying to the FBI can claim he was treated unfairly.

  14. pogo, does that order extend to denying the judge the ability to find flynn in contempt?  have they made the whole matter that he lied to 2 separate judges just disappear?

  15. Judge Sullivan could wait a bit, and at the last minute have the entire Court of Appeals give their opinion. If that doesn’t work, the Judge can wait a little longer and then take it to the Supremes. No hurry.

On Jan 20th the clock runs out on flynn.

  16. Patd, I didn’t read the decision so I don’t know whether it extends to a contempt order, but I would doubt so. That’s a judge’s decision in the first instance.

  17. trump supporters make small of all the C19 deaths. They say, they were old and were gonna die anywayz.
Yup. So, just letting them die is called mercy killing. It’s the assigning of innocent people to morgues by trump’s republican death panels.

  18. Tiptoe – I suspect they have somewhat limited resources to run their ads everywhere, but I could be wrong about that.  I want them in PA, MI, WI, MN and FL.  If there’s enough $$ to run them in TX, AZ, NC and VA, all the better.

  19. We don’t need the ads here. Neither does MI or VA. Save that money and flip TX and NC.

  20. Texas schools are not following CDC guidelines in the fall (no masks, no smaller classes)…but the teachers aren’t having it.  Apparently, the teachers’ union here allows teachers to take temporary/early retirement (a sabbatical) for a year or two, with pay.  They are threatening to do just that if the school districts don’t make class sizes smaller,  define what the cleaning schedule will be, etc.

  21. Beer and chocolate? Two of my top 10 foods.  Outrageous!!! Something must be done. NOW. Stupid bastard.

  22. Angry residents erupt at meeting in Palm Beach County over new mask rule
This crazy lady needs a padded cell. She actually brought up the devil, Bill Gates, Hillary, the pedophiles and the deep state.

  23. XR, I suggest leaving no states with slim margins in 2016 to chance. Nothing to chance I say.

  24. Dateline Charleston:   Statue of John C Calhoun located in Marion Square in process of removal by City Leaders.
Calhoun could not be reached for comment.   A bill is currently being debated recommending replacing the statue with one of Algonquin J Calhoun.

  25. Tony, Mrs. P, a pretty woman, tells me that you really have to beware of pretty women – they are crazy. The woman in red just goes to prove that.  Pretty, crazy.

  26. What kind of person would come up with a choke hold or a carotid hold in the first place??  What kind of people would NOT object to it? Repubes in the senate today vis-a-via the police.

Those are the people.  SAD! Vote them OUT!

  27. BiD, there are no teacher’s unions in DFW.  There are organizations like TRTA. But all the organizations do is lobby and provide lawyers.  It’s a right to work state and therefore a right to not work.  You serve at the leisure of the school board, I guess.
