  1. I’ve been told the traditional answer is “mu” to the koan “does a dog have Buddha nature?” which means neither yes-nor-no.

    personally, I opt for a yes much in the same way that our trail friend solar shares that we are all god… and so, therefore, is a dog god.

    but i’m open to hearing and understanding (even believing) alternative answers… flatus, what sayeth ye?

    wouldn’t the announced stance to bar considering both Obama’s and Hillary’s scotus nominees be grounds enough to let the prez go ahead and appoint merrick garland?  can’t imagine lame duck senate dismantling that appointment once it’s made and he’s sitting on bench.

I spent last night in heaven with three hours in the company of some of the greatest performers on the planet doing the live broadcast of Broadway For Hillary from the St. James Theater in New York.  Song after song, reading after reading for a one night fundraiser and it was magnificent.  It was broadcast live on Hillary’s channel, Facebook, and You Tube but has now disappeared.  I hope there will be a DVD but union rules that were waived for the night may prevent that.

    Sturg same here…..i still play a little softball, basketball…..but i dont watch any sports at all……cant get myself around the idea that watching someone else sweating like a (Patd, started this…so…..) dog and paying for it…..I used to play football…..but could not stand the idea of someone hitting me….i hit back….so i quit playing that sport…..about kids….yep they are great to watch……even then there is a lot of violence………….in the stands where the moms and pops are…..fighting like cats and DOGS…….ok that was the last one……

  16. As a basic pacifist, I prefer sports where those involved are not actually trying to kill each other.  Those of us who adore the Dodgers just swear at those with lesser sensibilities.  In a pinch I like Cricket and Soccer or the leisurely stroll involved with golf.

    ….dont know where that u tuber got his info…but its right on!  Google Barbara Hero.  This is where i read it the first time…i think….find the charts that she gives us the HZ for all vibrations …..Little pogo will like it also….for every illness that there is…there is a corresponding musical note…..that Barbara found to cure it……..I practice listening to DR. Rife (another great dr…please to google him also) vibrations for anything at all…..i dont get headaches or anything very often…but when i do…..i reach for a bottle of vibrations…..never a bottle of pills……..Play some soothing vibrations on that over active (must be a lawyers dog?) mutt of yours….and in a  cpl of session…i believe that the vibrations will calm him down a little…..

Lin-Manuel Miranda is our latest new national treasure.  He is so brilliant and creative with the good sense to know that history and art belong together.  The whole show was amazing.  Angela Bassett reciting Sojourner Truth’s Aint I A Woman from 1851 just left everyone stunned.  It took them several beats to scream and applaud in admiration.

    Donald Trump fan Dan Bowman overtly threatened to take Hillary Clinton out if she becomes President of the United States. One hopes the Secret Service is taking notes.     Dan Bowman also spoke to a Boston Globe reporter where he appeared even more revolutionary.

    And if Trump doesn’t win, some are even openly talking about violent rebellion and assassination, as fantastical and unhinged as that may seem.

    “If she’s in office, I hope we can start a coup. She should be in prison or shot. That’s how I feel about it,” Dan Bowman, a 50-year-old contractor, said of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee. “We’re going to have a revolution and take them out of office if that’s what it takes. There’s going to be a lot of bloodshed. But that’s what it’s going to take. . . . I would do whatever I can for my country.”

    He then placed a Trump mask on his face and posed for pictures.

    I repeat. Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to America.

    How often do you see a political campaign incorporate? Not often. Political campaigns are organizations. dot org. Well, the newest floater add for Virginia, seen in Maryland because they are too stupid to reduce costs by keeping it where it is meant to be seen, is by the Donald Trump dot com, not dot org.
    My guess is he is going to take a loss on this in his hidden income taxes. He is funding his campaign as a commercial enterprise and using a loss as an income tax loss.

  43. As to the topic of the day, our current dog, Brewster has never struck me as being very spiritual. He is  much more Dennis the menace like If he were church going he would be the reason  preacher took up drinking.

    The closest dog I ever had who could have been a Buddhist was Red dog, she was a chow mix and raised by a cat. Had a lot of cat mannerisms the only dog I ever saw who washed her face  by licking her paws. While Red was a Buddhist, her sister Miss Auggie was Presbyterian. As she aged she was very much the sweet delicate old lady . As to the cat/dog/bird argument ………  All I can say is yes for Depending on the point of view, we are a family, a pride, a pack or a flock



  44. This is Spencer.  He’s normally a fairly liberal Democrat.  He’s voted a number of times – for Obama, Clinton twice, and Gore (I think – so he tells me). We had him in the truck when we went to the Bush home in Midland – he went nuts, barking and carrying on. BTW – he is a retired champion show dog – and his grandpappy was a Canadian national mushing champion. He is my bestest friend.

    On Tuesday, a woman can be seen on video taken by a reporter for the New York Daily News dragging the life-size structure of the Democratic presidential nominee to the ground, stomping on it and even sitting on top of it to prevent a man from standing it back up again.

    “We shouldn’t be treated this way. Period,” another woman can be heard saying.

  47. cbsnews: FBI helps Czech police nab suspected Russian hacker

    Police in the Czech Republic have detained an unidentified Russian man suspected of participating in cyberattacks on the United States, according to a statement published Wednesday on the police website. 

    The statement said the Russian was arrested in cooperation with the FBI within 12 hours, thanks to a rapid exchange of information with American officials. The arrest took place on Oct. 5. It was not immediately clear whey the Czech authorities waited so long to publicize it.

    According to the statement, the Czech judiciary was considering extraditing the man to the U.S., but it was not immediately clear Wednesday morning whether the U.S. government had made a formal extradition request.

    The police said the man had been travelling with a woman in “a very expensive car” prior to his arrest, which they said came as a surprise to him.

This latest “quid pro quo” nonsense demonstrates exactly why modern news channels make me crazy.  It has been repeatedly explained that the question asked was totally separate from the interview taking place as the result of a FOIA action.  The request was made of the Kerry State Dept not the Clinton one.  Both State and the FBI deny any action taken on the question.  Nobody got anything and it didn’t concern Clinton at all other than classification of an email AFTER THE FACT.  No change was made.

    Now every 15 minutes you get some news reader (there are absolutely NOT either reporters or journalists) asking the repeated interpretation of this FOIA request as being a smoking gun to some sort of Clinton evil.  This will be followed by some form of vague disclaimer and then 15 minutes later back to the charges and refutations again.

Supposedly the current system is that the Dept that originated the base document gets to classify it.  So even if another dept draws on something in public domain it is supposed to be classified internally the way the original was classified.  As you can imagine this causes all sort of turf war stupidity all the way around.  This is why the “I did not KNOWINGLY send any classified material” is so important and why having an otherwise legal server becomes pertinent.

    As close as I can see from all the mountains of “evidence”, Hillary did not do anything evil.  Comey was right.  She was careless.  What is needed is an agreed upon standard or a central board of some sort to assign and/or adjudicate classification so everyone knows how everything is to be handled.

    …..just want to report that ive been watching the Spanglish stations very closely and have noticed that there are many Mexicans becoming US citizens and voting against Trump.  There are a lot of Latin Movies and television actors/actresses from all over the world becoming citizens…..just to vote…and they are appearing in a get out the vote commercials…..there is always a get out the vote segment with big stars….same with the news portion of each channel…it usually appears right after they show some thug/cop video……anyway, they even had a chef that was cooking a Trump/rump roast in a comedy segment…turned orange…and had to be put in the garbage……they they put water over it to stop the smoking…..great stuff!

    We have Hillarys back, so tell her to go after those that endorsed trump early on….dont let them get away with it…..that Mcain thinks he is slick…waiting to the last  minute to tell us that he wont be endorsing trump any longer……its way too late….trump is the Rs representative for potus……what is so hard about that?…..this is the first thing that should come out of every ones mouth each and every time when talking to the new or any media….

  56. I’ve kept telling myself that I don’t want to watch this last debate.  But…  just like trying not to watch a train wreck or car accident…  I’m positive I won’t be able to resist.  I’ll be watching with most of the nation.

    Played cards yesterday with a friend who has already voted absentee because she won’t be here the week of the election.  She voted for every Democrat on the ballot.  But even she wants to watch this debate….  says it’s more entertaining than watching anything else on tv.  I guess that means if Trump’s real motive for running for prez was to shore up his entertainment business…  he seems to have succeeded.

  65. Yesterday, my completed South Carolina Ballot was placed in the mail. My signature on the envelope was witnessed by my grandson, Jasper. I had enough information to make informed votes in all the races except the local school-board.

    I really searched for info. Only one candidate took advantage of the ‘stage’ provided by the election authorities; he received my vote. I had two more votes, but I figured none of the other candidates deserved them–too damned lazy to create an Internet presence, take advantage of Election Board help, or enlist the support of a young teen to show them the ropes.

That’s positively huge, particularly when you consider that she has a strong ground operation to get people to the polls, and for all intents and purposes he has none at all. As a point of comparison, in 2012 Barack Obama’s lead over Mitt Romney never went above four points during the general election, and at this point the two were tied.

    So he’ll probably try something unusual at tonight’s debate. It’ll be aimed squarely at the voters who already have their “Make America Great Again” hats, not at the ones Trump actually needs. And it will almost certainly fail.

    Re becoming a citizen…I meant that the test is something that must be studied for. I wager that even many average natural born citizens would have difficulty answering the questions unless they studied. My guess is you’ve been there, done that but this info is for general audiences: This link provides the 100 questions AND the acceptable answers. Future citizens would have to memorize all of them since they wouldn’t know which 10 questions they would be asked.

    This makes me sick! This is the culture that breeds something like Donald Trump and it must end!

Flatus – good work.  The Maryland ballot I get has the circuit court on it.  Not having much to do in court these days, I do not know who is who.  The old joke: who votes for judges?  Answer: their family and friends and those who have been in front of them.  I read an article in the local paper about a Dem running for circuit court and not given the same opportunities to meet the voters as the Republicans.
