Trump’s Way: Insulting His Employees

President Trump celebrated Russia’s expulsion of American diplomats, saying he’s thankful they’re off the payroll: “We’re going to save a lot of money.”

He treated his own party’s Senate Majority Leader like a loser on his former TV show, “The Apprentice.”

Trump appealed to many voters because they wanted a CEO to run government like a business. Is this how successful business leaders operate? Ridiculing their own workers?

He’s turning his own government against him, and my guess is he’ll regret it. No more so than how he’s alienated the intelligence community, which is obviously behind stirring the pot against him on several fronts. They’ll never forget how in January he compared them to Nazis: “Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to “leak” into the public. One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?” he tweeted.

If there wasn’t a “Deep State” before Trump got here, there is now. And he is in their crosshairs.

  1. God what an idiot. Predictably  McConnell’s Senate colleagues are rallying around him in support. They’re discussing this on morning Joe right now. The consensus is that he’s being politically idiotic. Joe estimates That now he’s got 46 or 47 votes in the Senate for any of his agenda items.

And he thinks that the savings that we will see from not having diplomats and Russia is on balance better than the benefits we receive from those expenses if they were there? Lewis Carroll and Jonathan Swift would be baffled.

  2. Doesn’t this risk adding to his appeal in some quarters? Martyr to the cause; he was right. His calling out McConnell, while not Washington smart, may be middle America smart. Plus the opposition has no “better deal” than we’re not him. If #45 survives into 2018, odds are so will the Republican incumbents. When will the Dems light a fire? Strange flatness. An a-hole take no prisoner arsonist is much needed. However this would be an outsider, so …..

    Snake swallows tail.

  4. Sj,  Kentucky is in middle America. What Kentuckians think might give a hint to how that plays. And I would venture to say that if Coal doesn’t “come back” the news for Trump won’t be good. And call me cynical, but I suspect that the people who are using opiates, and Kentucky is one of the states that has an extremely high percentage of people who do, won’t be all that enthralled with trump when he’s taking their opiates away.

That tweet got over 5,000 retweets so far.  Somewhat heartening to know that many people got the joke.

  6. wapo:

The Global Times newspaper is not an official mouthpiece of the Communist Party, but in this case its editorial probably does reflect government policy and can be considered “semiofficial,” experts said.

In an editorial, The Global Times said China should make it clear to both sides: “when their actions jeopardize China’s interests, China will respond with a firm hand.”

“China should also make clear that if North Korea launches missiles that threaten U.S. soil first and the U.S. retaliates, China will stay neutral,” it added. “If the U.S. and South Korea carry out strikes and try to overthrow the North Korean regime and change the political pattern of the Korean Peninsula, China will prevent them from doing so.”

  7. Only in America. Stupid Fuck calls out Mitch for being ineffective, which is true, and the troops rally around Mitch. I guess being bad at your job is not such a detriment after all.

Indeed we live in strange times.

  8. Patd,

From your linked article it appears that China will gladly accept the role that SF and America have ceded to them.

For years, the question especially amongst republicans was, who lost China? Now they can spend the next generation asking who put China at the top of the heap? Needless to say, they won’t be looking in the mirror when they pose the question.

S!f has done for China in seven months what she couldn’t do for herself in seventy years.

  9. meanwhile back to the critter committee investigations

    abc news:

Congressional investigators want to question President Donald Trump’s longtime personal secretary as part of their ongoing probe into a controversial meeting between Trump campaign officials and a Russian lawyer promising dirt on Hillary Clinton, ABC News has learned.

Rhona Graff, a senior vice president at the Trump Organization who has worked at Trump Tower for nearly 30 years, has acted as a gatekeeper to Trump. She remains a point of contact for the sprawling universe of Trump associates, politicians, reporters and others seeking Trump’s time and attention, even now that he’s in the White House.

Graff’s position in Trump’s orbit recently gained attention after Donald Trump Jr. released a June 2016 email exchange with British publicist Rob Goldstone leading up to the meeting with Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower.

“I can also send this info to your father via Rhona,” Goldstone wrote Donald Jr. in the email, “but it is ultra sensitive so wanted to send to you first.”

Graff was not on the email chain and it’s unclear if Goldstone ever made direct contact with her.

  10. The names didn’t make a bit of difference to the inhabitants of Hiroshima or Nagasaki. The code names did reflect the significant design differences of the weapons involved. Each functioned in a way that brought an end to the war that Japan brought unto all the nations of their side of the world to include the United States.

  11. Flatus, it appears to me that SFB doesn’t get teh gravity of the brinksmanship he’s engaged in.  Perhaps if he had visited Hiroshima or Nagasaki, or ground zero for that matter, he might have some understanding about what this war thing does to like, real, living people.  If he has visited them and still acts like the dipshit he is, shame on him.

Jace, to me it is laughable that anyone as bad at his job as SFB is calling McMcMertle bad at his job, notwithstanding that at least with respect to the healthcare wars has a been very ineffective.  On the scale of 1-10, 1 being totally effective and 10 being totally ineffective, SFB has to be higher on that scale than McMertle.

  12. “On the scale of 1-10, 1 being totally effective and 10 being totally ineffective,” -pogo

    In Trumpistan, scales go backwards.

  13. How do we, as a Americans, initiate a recall election before our fascist leader destroys the world?

I’ve often heard the average German citizen blamed for allowing a despot like Hitler to inflict so much pain in the world.  If we don’t stop this guy, we’re no different than the rank-and-file Nazis.

  14. KGC, when it comes to human qualities, by orders of magnitude Kim is a worse person than Trump. What would warrant a verbal reprimand under Trump, is a capital offense under Kim; not just for the perp, but his extended family as well. So far as I can tell, he has absolutely no redeeming social values.

  15. the twit pulled out of the paris accords. he upends environmental regs.  obviously he doesn’t care a whit about what happens  to his children’s children’s future well being.  so why be surprised about his bomb bombasting?   at 71 he knows he’s not much longer for this world.  his view is like louie said  “L’État, c’est moi”- The State? I am the State – except in his mind he’s the world, the universe.  so what does it matter if he blows it up?

  16. imagined scenario:   kim shoots off his 4 rockets. as they begin their arc over japan, japan retaliates with their own anti-missiles BUT not being as up-to-date on missiling, they miss the nork 4, one hits Pyongyang, two hit china and the last one fizzles on the ground making the u.s. think the norks nuked japan.  the u.s. retaliates, hits one of the nork nukes, misses the other 3  and inadvertently takes out most of japan and korea with a little left over for fireworks display over china.

  17. king kim even makes robert mugabe and v. putin look good. That’s an astonishing achievement. He has yet to make pol pot seem attractive by comparison, but he’s only 33 years old, for heaven’s sake.

  18. “king kim even makes robert mugabe and v. putin look good” -xrep

Putin started a civil war in Ukraine and still presides over an invasion of that country while employing unmarked Russian-national troops in that effort, all while denying it.  That’s pretty bad.

  19. Give PG time  he is itchin’ to declare martial law and suspend elections and he would just as soon have the police shoot as arrest.

    I think he is worse.

This is the inflatable chicken put up near the WH -generally I would think this is still a funny ploy except this is probably not the time to be calling Trump a chicken.

  20. How do we help the deep state move-out this enemy of the people faster?

business man tactics?  trump is bankrupt mess and his feeding tube now securely into the government he has been living-off for 40 or so years.  mcconnell , unlike sessions, has a wife that works for the brown noser cabinet…trump will fire her to get back at mcconnell.  The beration treatment is an old tactic…works to some extent in business, but not government.  china continues to play trump and maybe we should be demanding an ambassador to south korea instead of trump winging-it on a crisis.   But, the trumpence junta has been itching to dismantle the state department…hence, the lack of care about the russian explulsion…these folks will remain on payroll anyway.  Plus, we have to pay for disability for the diplomats from Cuba who have gone deaf from russia’s acoustic wars.   This is not about money, but withdrawal of influence.   Hurry deep state.

  21. I really like the way the deadbeat insulted jeff secessions and midge mcconnell. In fact, I’m a little jealous, ‘cuz I’d like to shame them in public, too. Can’t wait to hear pussypincher berate pol ryan.

  22. PG the insult president his role models are Don Rickles and Triumph the dog (puppet)
He would rather talk about NK then Russia.

  24. Each week is worse than the week before.  The idiocy increases. The stupidity increases.  Much of what would be considered impeachable the week before is now just a footnote to the current week.  When will he be stopped?  Who will stop him?  The House?  Are there enough in the House who are not under Putin control to even vote for impeachment?  I remember many months ago when the range of forty to eighty more than the WH were going to face charges.  SFB may send those down to block the path to him, but it will only add to the charges.
